It is and the heaviest bands are still an hour or two away.
I just went out and shoveled the sidewalk and it was covered again by the time I reached the end.

A few notes on that pattern:
* It's worked longways, 182 stitches long. The various sections use pattern stitches that have to work out to certain multiples. So it's helpful to count the stitches before starting each new section to make sure you still have 182 stitches.
* To avoid the edging problem I encountered, on the first row of the edging, work (142? 144? Not sure which, 'cause I fudged the shells to make it work) stitches evenly spaced across the short edges instead of 140. One of those numbers will make the rows of Woven Stitch work out correctly. (You need the spaces between the Woven Stitches to equal a multiple of four, or 72 spaces.)
* On the edging, the pattern shows the final row of shells on Row 7, which is a wrong-side row---but the photo shows the shells facing right-side. I think the shells look better done on a right-side row. Just leave out a row of Woven Stitches, or make an extra row.
None of this will make much sense until you actually get to the edging of the afghan---just save these notes and tuck them away with the pattern.
I love the "cheat sheet" with the symbols! I'll download the PDF and keep it with my patterns.
That's an excellent suggestion. I considered doing that for the problem section, but that section is 140+ stitches wide, and I just didn't want to sketch all that out in symbols. Now that I know where the pitfalls are, I made careful notes on my pattern for next time. I can see where the symbols would help to visualize a complex pattern. Wouldn't it be great if there was a download, like a font, that would let you use the symbols on the computer?
I made a lot of good progress on the afghan while working at home today (no jobs have come in yet), and I'll be close to finishing it this evening.
:???:
Crochet fascinates me---a hook, a length of yarn, and it grows into a blanket! It's like magic.
Thanks.
I don't have to be in until noon, and we have all wheel drive in the Equinox, so if I take it slow I should be fine.
Hello all. Well we didn't get any more snow but that storm is now over Made's place now and it sounds like he is getting some snow!
Temps are going to get crazy cold with wind chills at about -10 tomorrow!
Hope y'all have a good night!
That is crazy! I give you so much credit. Everyone is so luck they have you. How much did you end up getting?
Good evening!
I already mentioned that our school district has a two hour delay opening for tomorrow morning. I'm still hoping it changes to a snow day. Not sure if it will though. Especially since they are already talking about the next snow storm on Sunday night. The snow is supposed to turn over to freezing rain tomorrow and I'm worried about the ice accumulation. We'll see what happens.
I'm feeling a little headachey so I'm going to turn in.
Everyone please be careful and stay safe tomorrow.
See you in the morning.
Goodnight and sweet dreams!
