Wind chill warning for
Extreme wind chills from minus 35 to minus 40 tonight and Tuesday morning.
In the wake of the storm, cold brisk winds are expected to produce widespread dangerous wind chills of minus 30 to minus 35 beginning late today. Wind chills can reach minus 35 to minus 40 overnight tonight and Tuesday morning.
Extreme caution is advised for people heading outdoors. Exposed skin may freeze in less than 5 minutes.
Moreover, it is also suggested to help prevent freezing of pipes in buildings, one could turn on the lowest tap in the house and let it run as a pencil-thin stream or fast drip while keeping indoor temperatures a little warmer at night.
Wind chills will improve slowly on Tuesday.
A rapidly intensifying winter storm centre from Texas has moved into Southern Quebec this morning.
Environment Canada will continue to monitor this evolving situation and update warnings accordingly.

Remember when you told me you wanted snow...
Running around like a crazy person this morning. Not how I like to spend Epiphany morning, but we had an issue with a cow and some business matter pop up at 7:20am. Yippee.
Just wanted to pop in here and ask for some warm thoughts for my closest friend, Mary. She lives in Heavener, OK. Their house isn't heated and it doesn't have a fireplace either. The have several space heaters, but it's just not getting the job done. It's 8 degrees outside and inside her thermometer is reading 37. They can't afford a hotel room and the landlord refuses to fix the furnace. :-(

Our forecast is similar. We're getting a lot of snow melting this morning, with a weird fog floating on top of the snow. Tonight it will be in the teens. I hope it will stay above freezing until I can get home! Our street is curb-to-curb slush this morning, and if that freezes solid, nobody will be able to drive. I'm hoping they'll plow away the slush today, but they will probably just drop some sand and salt and call it a day.
Yipe!!! I'm glad you got through that safely. A car out of control on ice is a very scary experience. I can still remember spinning in a circle on an overpass when I was a teen. I hope the town or county or whatever will sand and salt out your way.

Indianapolis is going from a red travel warning to an orange travel warning at noon. So i guess that means it's time for everyone to go to McDonald's!!!
It was January 16th, 1994 the last time Indy was this cold. I remember it clearly!!! It was a wednesday. School was canceled and I spent the day in front of the fireplace. Then that weekend we went camping with scouts and it still got down to -10 at night.
That is a great idea MerryCarey. We have many warming centers here for people in need.
