Well mom's blood level hadn't really changed since the last time we where there a week and a half ago. So the doctor today left her on the same dose of blood thinner and said he would let her normal doc make the decision as to whether she thought it she be lowered or not since she is right at the highest number they want her to be at.

I've got all of my other running done too. So now I can just kick back and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Happy Thursday morning. I've been away a long time. Time is going by too quickly. Can't believe the wife and I have been married 32 years today.

It has been a year of 'last time'. Our only child (Ethan) is finishing up his senior year of high school. His baseball career is now over. Senior day at our last home game was tough. He has played organized baseball since he was 5. We attended our final high school academic and sports banquets this week. The Baccalaureate service for seniors is at our church on June 4. He graduates high school June 6 and will give the closing prayer at graduation. I'm sure I will lose my manhood that day.


Move-in day at Gardner Webb University is August 15. We will begin a new chapter in our lives. Not sure I'm ready for it.

I just had a cone of Friendly's Red Velvet ice cream a little while ago---it's red-velvet-colored ice cream with bits of red velvet cake and a cream-cheese-icing swirl … and they sell it at the supermarket!

Boy, do I miss the volunteer firemen's carnivals in my home county throughout June and July!! The one in our town was always the week of my birthday. I get teary-eyed nostalgic for a carnival this time of year. Go to the carnival on my behalf! And if there's a game there called Fat Albert's that involves white rats, give the operator my love. (I think he's retired by now, though.)

Have you heard about the limited-edition Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Oreos that are coming out? I haven't tried any, but I heard that they're really good.

The neighbor's cat just dropped by for a visit. When he wants some attention, he climbs up on the railing of the deck and beats on the kitchen window screen with his paw. So I had to go out and say hello!
