Christmas Countdown - 2014

Hey there all! Just getting the chance to log in today for the first time. I left the house early and drove to a job site to review the construction progress. Got there and was wrapping things up, Ha, went to the car to leave,.....nothing! There I was, 100 miles from home and the dag-gone starter went up in the car. Had to get it towed to a near-by garage, at least it was owned by a Christian man, who needlessly did not rake me over the coals. Towing and installing a new starter - 350.00, I didn't think that was too bad!

Home now, waiting on a moving company to come to the house at 4 o'clock, to give us an estimate to move everything. Then it's back upstairs to remote log-in and do some work on another engineering project for the VA..... I'll be out there all day tomorrow doing some field investigations...

Glad you found a decent mechanic and that he got you fixed up and on the way quickly!!!

Hopefully the movers are just as nice!!!

Hope your trip to the VA is less eventful than today's trip!!!

The three day forecast shows that there is a threat of tornadoes for my area on Wednesday. I'm sure the forecast will change before then, but it is still a bit worrisome. After Wednesday, it is all fall temperatures for the foreseeable future. Woo Hoo!

Good evening!
I just read through the posts quick, its the first time I've had a chance to sit down and relax. I thought it was going to be a pretty quiet day for me but I got an unexpected call from the preschool this morning asking me to come in because they were short handed. I went in to help them out for a few hours and of course my entire day was thrown off. While I was there the school director was begging me to work all five days instead of just Tuesday & Thursday. I originally turned down working all five days because I thought it would be too much for me. This time they offered me shorter shifts on M/W/F instead of full days. I guess I'm going to try it and see how it goes. I have to be back there at 8:00am. I might not be able to pop in here first thing every morning, I'll have to see how it goes. If not I will definitely check in at some point during the day. I hope everyone had a nice day and enjoys the rest of the evening!

Good evening,

The usual long day at work today, day off tomorrow, I get a bonding day with Turtle tomorrow. Most of the cats are having a hard time adjusting to Turtle, Gomez especially. He hid for over 24 hours straight, poor thing, he is afraid of his own shadow to begin with so this is really tough on him. Sidney seems to be the only one who likes him so far.
Just listening to some Quo before bed, it is one month from tonight that the Bruins season opens, I cannot wait!

Hope you're enjoying your day off and the day with Turtle as well! It may take a little while for the cats to adjust to Turtle, as he is new to the family, but I'm sure they will all soon see, that you guys love him, and once he becomes part of the routine, they won't even be bothered by him. Well, my son's Guinea pig Norm died overnight. The kids are upset and my wife and I will miss that little guy too. He was part of our family.

Other than that, not much going on. I hope everyone is having a great week!

We are trying to remain hopeful & stay positive. Had a lovely chat with Dorothy over the weekend, she is such an inspiration. She has been having some good days now that the temps have dropped & humidity has lessened, she is breathing better. And when breathing better, she feels better & eats more, which gives her strength & energy. Dad's surgery was just moved up to tomorrow, so I am worried a bit but glad for it to be here too. Our friend,Brett, started treatment in Ensenada over the weekend. So, we are praying a lot!

Good evening, friends! It's been busy here today and I didn't get very far in the Countdown. Hopefully I get caught up tomorrow. Hope you've all had a great day so far and the evening will be great too! TTYT!

Ok, the moving company rep has just left. The moving company has given us their estimate to move, so we just signed that contract tonight. Also, for the house we are buying, the apprasial came in, and it appraised for 45,000 more than we are paying for it.....Sure glad the guy selling it to me, doesn't get to see that! Well, at least he signed all the addendums to the contract as well, so, with all of that behind us now, I suppose we can say it is now a 99% chance, that we are getting that house....

As soon as I go to settlement, I will then sign up for the Christmas exchanges; (don't want to jinx myself)!

I had the door and windows open to let some air in, but turned back around and closed them again. It must be at a minimum of 95% humidity outside. I had to turn the air conditioning back on again to wring out some of the moisture and get the temperature back down again to 71 degrees. It looks like it wants to storm outside, but it is not doing anything yet.

Hope everyone is having a nice evening tonight. Me, it's time for me to chill out for a little while then head to bed. 4am comes around too early for me now-a-days....

On a farmers sad note: My brother called me and told me a fox got into his hen house last night and killed all his chickens. Boy- o-boy, that was one peeeeoood brother of mine. I think he's sitting out hunting tonight with his 12 gauge.....
