I can stand the vintage-era horror films, partly because the horrific stuff was suggested rather than shown in gross detail. I think it's scarier if they DON'T show it---as though it's too horrible to show!

We saw "The Corpse Vanishes" with Bela Lugosi yesterday. Pretty cheesy, actually! We were laughing at some of the dialogue.

I'm with you. And some of what they implied in the vintage horror films was very disturbing (I'm thinking of The Black Cat with Karloff and Lugosi).

I know I have mentioned this a year or two ago but worth repeating for anyone who missed it. I mentioned my neighbors decorating for Christmas on Halloween night, well my uncle had them beat about 6 years ago. He put up his Christmas tree in mid October!!! Most of my family kind of freaked out but I was very proud of him!!! No one made mean comments toward him, just was a little shocked is all. Lol! I think his kids enjoyed it though. He was handing out candy on Halloween night to the kids with a fully decorated lit up Christmas tree glistening through the front window. :D

He passed away in 2012. I sure miss him, we had the best time at his house on Christmas Eve!!!

That sounds great!

I'm sorry he passed but I'm so glad you have those memories!

Tough when our Christmas traditions have to change. With Dad & Mom both gone, our Christmas will certainly be different.

I don't think I have seen part 3. Was Linda Blair in it?

I haven't kept up with the newer scary movies in the past 15-20 years. Most of them I saw go further back.

No...apparently the priest and a detective from the first one were the characters in this one. The detective is investigating a case that he thinks may tie into the past events. I got online and read...the author of the first one had nothing to do with part two and hated it! So he made his own sequel that the studios called part three, but it had nothing to do with part two, if that makes any sense.

Good morning everyone. Much too warm here. Today's forecast high is 71. The good news is we finally start cooling off with Saturday's forecast high of 45 and low of 29. We've had a few frosts already but looking forward to nice freeze.

We don't really celebrate Halloween. We live on the side of a mountain with few neighbors and no kids. In 15 years here, we've never had a trick or treater.

Have a blessed day.

Hope you can get through the heat today and then enjoy the cool down that is coming!!!!!

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year but I am not into the scary stuff, I am more into the whimsical childlike part of it. Halloween TV lineup consist of kid friendly shows, cartoons, cooking shows and house decorating shows. I will watch some of the shows on the Travel Channel featuring Haunted Houses across America. They show a few in my area but I have yet to go to them. That's about as scariest as it gets! =)

The one scary movie that I allow myself to watch, an old classic, The Exorcist! That movie scared me enough that I am not interested in watching any of the new scary stuff they have out now. I have seen other classics, The Shining, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street and a few others but I only go back to the Exorcist. I have not seen that in a few years but my son and I do plan to watch it this week. (He's an adult!) No matter how many times I have seen it I still get freaked out over it! Wish me luck!

TV Alert!

Tonight on ABC is, The Great Halloween Fright Fest, competitive Halloween decorating show. A Family will be award 50,000 prize for the best display

Good luck CAH!!! Thanks for the info!

Good morning everyone. Finally it is cooling down here with a high of 69 today. Sure beats the 90s we saw over the weekend.

Hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Enjoy Ryan!!! Have a good day!

Merry :mrbones:Scary Tuesday everyone !

The weather today has been perfect for the season. Very Dark, grey but strangely warm. We seem to be having summer temps here at 16C! We just came back from a walk out to the shops. We have been enjoying all the fallen leaves everywhere. As the children are off school this week, there is a festive, cheerful atmosphere out as people get in the spirit of holloween. I hope that this weather keeps up.

We were out picking up Halloween decorations for Mr Festive 's office and managed to find a couple reduced Halloween things for us too! Bargain!

Hope you all are having a great week and enjoying the build up! I am off to watch a Halloween episode of Bewitched with the kids- *twitches nose* lol

Sounds like you are having a great day!!! I love Bewitched!!!

Wow!! you all get weather reports that far ahead!!!!! Even tomorrow's weather is speculative here hahahaha!

I hope you get the weather you want and this year 's Thanksgiving goes to plan !!!Excited for you all!

The extended reports will change 30 times between now & then...just fun to look ahead! www.accuweather.com

LOL!!!! I dreamed that mom was in the hopsital and that they were having a mexican cooking competition among all of the patients.

xx

WOW...lucky patients. LOL!

Good morning, everyone!

Have a look at that count. Halloween is so close. The Christmas Season is getting closer by the second, too! Apparently, I failed to visit yesterday. Oops! Yesterday, I was stuck at Passport Canada for the day. I am really hoping it was my last! My contract ends on Friday. It's been great having a fall-back place to ensure I am always making money, but I will just expand my teaching area after this week. As for today, I am back to teaching.

It's a comfortable morning in Ottawa. Temperatures are currently around the upper single digits (high 40s) with highs of 16 (61f) and rain in the forecast. There was also a bit of rain on the way down to work, but it was still an easy drive.

My dad left yesterday. It was good to spend some time with him, as always. Kim and I had the opportunity to take him out for dinner to celebrate his 60th birthday, which was on October 10th. I assume he made it home safely. I guess I will now see him again when I return home for Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, I managed to take a few photos over the weekend. I just haven't had the time to upload them. Thankfully, I don't have many plans this evening. I went to the gym and had hockey yesterday. I had tryouts on Saturday. My body is quite sore and needs a rest! What better way to take a rest than upload and share Christmas photos?! I don't know of many.

Well, we're a day away from the final 'Pines Day before Halloween. I hope everyone has all their tricks and treats in place. As for our favourite countdown, it will look quite nice on Thursday when we all see that the Season is only two weeks away! Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

Tough when our Christmas traditions have to change. With Dad & Mom both gone, our Christmas will certainly be different.

I am so sorry for your loss and the changes you have to face. It is really hard but somehow we pulled it off and had a wonderful Christmas Eve that year he passed. His house was real small and we managed to cram 20 + people in it to celebrate. This was the tradition for over 30 years, wouldn't have it any other way. It felt like you had to step over people to get to another room but it was the tradition. He was a comical happy man and I knew he wanted us to stay happy and laugh. I have taken over the Christmas Eve tradition and have it at my house. I joked that first year to cram a bunch of furniture in the house to make it feel as small as his. Ha ha! We did up Christmas Eve real big in his honor that first Christmas without him. All his kids and grandchildren came over and it went over real well. Everyone seemed really happy even though we missed him tremendously. His kids gave me all of his Christmas decorations because everyone knows how much I love Christmas and will proudly display it all.

We went through the same thing on Thanksgiving when my grandma passed away. I always went to her house to cook for the big day but it all changed after she left us.

I hope that you all can enjoy this Christmas in honor of your parents. It's hard but hopefully you can make it happen. If this year you are not ready for it, you always have next year - it takes time. You will all be in my prayers.

Glad you had a nice time with your dad!

Looking forward to the photos.

I love this story!

You know, someone needs to invent an outdoor light string that is orange and purple for Halloween---then you flip a switch and it becomes multicolor for Christmas! You'd only have to put up the outdoor lights once, and when trick-or-treat is over, just flip the switch for instant Christmas cheer!

Awesome idea MC!!!

I will be keeping your family in my prayers!!! And I agree - this is the 1st year Christmas Eve will not be at my parents house. It's just getting to be too much for them & they are not enjoying it anymore. My sister has offered to have it at her house, which is great, but still, it kind of makes me sad. My sister lives in another town (many of my family live here in the same town as my parents) & it just seems odd. It will still be great - my sister has a beautiful big home - she loves Christmas like I do - and it's not really about the location, it's about family being together, but I can't help to have this feeling of sadness about it. Just a little!!
I do hope your have a wonderful Christmas with your family!

Good morning!

I hope this finds everyone well!

A raindy (and I do mean raindy!) day here ~ perfect for fall and Halloween. However, I am walking around humming Christmas songs!!!! Speaking of which, the other day I was sampling various versions of Jingle Bells that I have loaded on my computer and every time there was a distinct sound of bells, Palmer would start playing with her jingle balls. Too cute!!!

Well, I need to get something to eat so that I can start work on time.

Be MERRY!!!!

Thank you. Haven't really made plans for how we will celebrate other than we plan to drive down to our families on the 23rd and stay a couple of days. My brother, son and I always through the town of McAdenville on the night of the 23rd. It is known as Christmas Town USA and is where Seawaters grew up. Neat town. Here is a link to their webpage:

Good morning MMC!! What a warm morning!! Last night we slept with windows open & the attic fan on! Really! On Oct 27/28! It was 74º at 3:00am!! We set a new record. Rain is moving in as I type this! That's ok - water that new grass seed we just planted. xx Lol!

By Saturday we have a high of 42 & a low of 26. I'm thinking about making a new drink recipe I just came across for our last weekend at the lake. It's served warm - apple cider, orange juice, pineapple juice, sliced oranges, nutmeg, cinnamon stick & cloves. Of course people can compliment with an adult beverage if they prefer. We will need something to keep us warm!!!

Hope you all are having a great day!!!

Look out, folks! MerryCarey is our new millionaire! =)

That is a fantastic idea!!! You could make a fortune with that invention!!! I would buy a few sets!

Unfortunately, I'm not an electrical engineer. Maybe xmastidings could develop it. (But I want a cut of the profits!)

I'm with you. And some of what they implied in the vintage horror films was very disturbing (I'm thinking of The Black Cat with Karloff and Lugosi).

Ooh, no spoilers! Haven't seen that one!
