CAH, you may appreciate this:

I'm listening to Sgt. Pepper as I work. I love this album! It was my dad's favorite album of all time. It's making me think if him, but that's okay.

On a side note, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds always makes me feel like I'm on an acid trip or something.

To clarify: I've never been in an acid trip! The song is just kind of "trippy." :)

Great album!
That's nice that it makes you think of him~

Forgot to mention this earlier but I baked Halloween cookies yesterday. I needed my son's honest opinion of them since I am unable to eat them due to food allergies. He ate one and said they tasted different from last time, not as good. Then he kept sampling them but couldn't quite figure out what was missing. 15 cookies later he still wasn't sure. Psst... I think he liked them!

I passed them out to the grandkids and other family members. No complaints yet. :D

LOL!!!!! Maybe I need to come down and try them to see what is off about them!!!!!

Last night my mom and I went to my grandson's basketball game. They are both on the same team. They didn't win this game but it was close! My mom and I have so much fun watching them play. We cannot wait until the next one!

Did anyone else watch the Halloween home decorating contest show last night on ABC? Those decorations were amazing! It seems that more and more people are into decorating their homes for Halloween. When I was little about the only Halloween decoration you would see is a lighted pumpkin on the porch. It won't be long to where so many houses will be decorating their homes that we will load up the car to go look at Halloween lights just like we do for Christmas! :pumpkin:

I missed it!! Jim came home from work & then left again to go help our nephew hang some drywall. Supper was in the oven & I had turned it on broil to get the cheese crispy on top. The doorbell rang & it was my Mom #2 (my best friends mom)....she wasn't there 5 minutes & the doorbell rang again (thankfully b/c I forgot about the casserole being under the broiler...eek) & it was my niece & my SIL. They all stayed awhile...Jim came home, we ate supper, then I took Gracie for a walk - it was 9:00 by now & I realized there is only 1 house in our whole subdivision that has Halloween lights. So we have a ways to go to get to the point of decorating like we do for Christmas in our town!! I'm glad you enjoyed the show...and the game!!

:pumpkin:

Good morning, MMC!!

Happy Pines Day!!!

Wishing you a blessed & beautiful day~

Ah! Great album for sure!!! I am glad it's giving you good memories of your dad! Yes, the song is very trippy!

Do you know the real story behind Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds? In case you don't, she was a classmate of John's son Julian. Julian brought home a picture he drew to his dad. He asked what it was and Julian said, "It's Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". Julian stayed in touch with her until she passed away several years ago.

Poor Lucy was made fun of growing up when she told her story because other kids didn't believe her. But finally Julian came forward to confirm it was true!

Okay, you might already know all that but wanted to tell the story in case I don't get a chance to get back on here!

Well, come on down!!!

When I do my annual holiday baking you can come down and test all of it for me. Ryan, you too since you want to try them out!!! Heck, all of MMC come try it out! :D

My mom asked me why I would want to bake a bunch of stuff I can't eat but I told her I love baking for everyone! She had no problem with that response because she knows she gets some of the goodies! I do bake some gluten free stuff too but if I did it all gluten free it would be expensive!!!

That is a great album. 'A Day In The Life' is one of my all time favorites. Saw McCartney sing 'For The Benefit of Mr Kite' in concert a couple of weeks ago.

I'd heard that a few years ago when Lucy passed away. That's a great story!

I love A Day in the Life. It's probably my favorite song on that album. What's yours?

Good Morning. My Many Merrry Mid-Weekers!

And indeed, 'Pines Day is again upon us.
And what a 'Pines Day!
(More about that later)

First off, let's look at today's count numbers:
Days to Halloween: 2 (DAY AFTER TOMORROW!!)
Days to the Season: 15 (TWO WEEKS FROM TOMORROW!)
Days to Christmas Day: 58 (Eight weeks from tomorrow!)

(A couple of those numbers are getting pretty frightening, aren't they?)

Nearly too warm yesterday (for late October, that is). Today should be a bit cooler but still into the 70's for our last real nice day before chilly weather moves in starting tomorrow.
For now, we have started off at 63 degrees here in central NC.

OK!
What's on tap tonight at the 'Pines?
Well, of course, it's the final 'Pines open house before Halloween and as such, Carl's big pre-Halloween bash will be this evening.
There will be the usual orange and black-frosted fired twinkies, carved pumpkins and the traditional apple bobbing.
(A bit of advise on that one -- take your turn before Carl does!)

But the big news is the "haunted wing" tour.
(This explains the tarp-covered section of the Shispering Pines last week.)
Carl promises chills and thrills and says he will "personally be invovled in the frights". (Oh! Oh!)
As usual, it sounds too interesting to miss so I'll be there. How about you?

Regardless, you have a Wonderful Wednesday, Everyone!

I'm so scared & so excited!!! Woo HOO!

Oh yeah, I must clarify too that I have never been on an acid trip either but was around others that did! I got with a group of people one night who wanted me to try it and I said no. They all did and when they said they saw ducks swimming on the livingroom wall I said, "Umm... I need to go home"! I was out of there real fast! Their "trip" scared the heck out of me! Not sure how that was any fun for them. I decided those are not the friends I need!

I love that song too!

Mr. Kite is good as well. I bet it was great live! I didn't know if Paul would do any Beatles songs or not at his concerts.

I even DVR'ed it so I can watch again! It was a really good show!

Sounds like you had a very busy and fun evening!

I shouldn't laugh...I know that's serious stuff. But you had it right! When ducks are swimming on the walls it's time to call it a night!

Good morning, everyone!

Not much time this morning. I have my prep first. It is followed by four hours of teaching - with the exception of lunch, of course. I don't like prep first. I was hoping to be in Art all day again today, as she is away for a second day in a row. Unfortunately, I have a schedule of difficult classes. Well, they are easy in the sense of workload for the students, but the students can become aggravated and aggressive quite easily. I'll just have to be extra firm with everyone today, I guess.

With that said, wish me luck. It could be worse! I have had these classes already this year. They know how I work. Hopefully it goes well again on my end.

Have a great Wednesday, everyone! See you at the 'Pines this evening. And, of course, how about that count?! Two weeks from this evening, we will be gathered at the 'Pines and counting down the hours, minutes, and seconds to the Christmas Season in real-time. Until then, let's keep enjoying ourselves!

You went to a Paul McCartney concert???

We just saw him earlier this month. We have seen him 4 times and the last 2 concerts he sang, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite and Lovely Rita - both off of Sgt. Pepper. The first 2 times I saw him he sang, A Day in the Life and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (reprise).

I can't wait to see him again! He puts on an excellent show!!!

Hope all goes well today, I'll be thinking of you.
See you at The Pines!
Have a great day!! :)

I'm laughing about it now but it seriously scared me then. I am very happy now that it scared me because it kept me from doing that kind of stuff!!!

Good news about it is that 2 of those people in that group turned out to be successful good citizens so thankfully they put a stop to the nonsense. Not sure whatever happened to the others!

Sounds like a rough day ahead but hopefully it will be stress free! Think Christmasey thoughts!!! Good luck to you!!!

That sounds great! On the album, though, doesn't John sing a Day in the Life? I know Paul sings that middle part but is it John the rest of the time?
