Christmas Countdown - 2014

Good morning, everyone! I wanted to stop in and say hi! It's been a crazy couple of days at my house - my kids have been sick with cold, fevers, and such, they're both still not feeling 100%, but they'll get there.

We've also been doing a lot of things to keep busy - a lot of things at school, things for Thanksgiving, baton, decorating for Christmas, rode the Santa train yesterday, and we have a Christmas parade today, for EA to march in today.

Needless to say, I haven't had much time to check in. Hope all is well with you! I've been thinking about all of you and keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers! Hope you're all having a great weekend!

HoHoHo and a pint of Egg nog!

I'm really looking forward to participating in the parade this year instead of just snapping photos. I imagine, I'll be warmer walking about than standing still. When the coordinator heard about my snowman costume, she asked me to be the one to hand out special stickers and fridge magnets to children along the route!

I have to reach back into my drama club days from High School to bring my snowman-self to life so the kids can feel extra jolly! I remember having to toss on a Santa costume one year when Santa was a no-show for my friend's kindergarten party. I had a great time.

Good Morning, Folks.

Like sand through the hour glass,
so are the days of our count.

The numbers, for the 2nd half of the weekend:
Days to Thanksgiving: 4 (Just over HALF a week left!)
Days to Christmas Day: 32 (One month from the day after tomorrow!)


Warmer this morning where we stand just over 40 at this hour.
The cold weather is supposed to back away for a couple of days......so we can properly welcome the wind and rain.
Oh well.


The Raleigh Christmas Parade yesterday was nice as always.
This is a REAL parade, not a "Broadway Side Show" like the Macys parade has become. I counted 21 Christmas songs played by the marching bands!
(Actually, if the truth be told, I prefer our local parade to the Macys one.)


Well. I don't have to worry about the Panthers loosing today -- they don't play.
Will focus on my other favorite team, the Packers!

My oldest daughter turns 21 today. Can't believe it, the years have gone by so fast. She's such a doll and I'm so blessed to have her. She went out last night with her sisters and a group of friends to celebrate. Today will be a family day, we'll be going out to dinner and then back home for birthday cake.

I was listening to Carol of the Bells in my head and then noticed it was playing on Kringle Radio - maybe my eyes scanned it in the header and I didn't realize it until I was humming it.



Elf on the Shelf reminds me of when I was little and my brothers used to pretend the characters from Land of the Giants were living in our house. They would stick needles and thread here and there and point by the rad and say, "There goes one!" and you know I'm sure I saw one once. I would have had such a grand time if they had Elf on the Shelf when I was little.




3/4 for me as I feel like I'm a wee bit behind - completed the shopping for the youngest grandchildren, who are the most fun to buy for because the others are content with gift cards or cool clothes, but I like buying board games, craft kits, toys and such and something Christmassy like an ornament or a merry novelty item. Getting into it BIG TIME now that the rest of the world is beginning to decorate, play music and catch up with the merriment of it all!



O'Malley doesn't know what to make of the snow. whines more than I do about it because he won't go on the balcony if there's snow on it and I think he wants to chase the snowflakes thinking there's a huge flock of small birds flying about. He's getting a carnival-sized dolphin for Christmas to replace the snake I had to throw out because he tore into it's jugular and the stuffing was coming out and when he was sick I thought he might have digested some cotton. He's my special education cat - but I love him.

Good Morning, MMC!!!!!! It's going to be a warm day here with a high around 60 degree's!!!! WooHoo!!!!! Of course there is a catch. Heavy rain is supposed to be moving in this afternoon and it's going to continue through tomorrow morning. I'm not quite sure what is going to be happening here today. I have a long list of stuff to do today and tomorrow but today is also my aunt's birthday. So if we can ever decide what we are going to do for it, that will move to the top of the list. If no one can agree, I guess we will just celebrate it on Thanksgiving. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's so nice & "warm" here! (normal temps for this time of year) At least for today! It's currently 45 degrees & raining, snow is melting. Harlowe seemed bummed when I took her out, but snow is in the forecast for tomorrow & Wednesday!

:dance: All showered and ready to go - listening to some Christmas tunes as I prepare to depart. I don't know what I'm worried about, I might be over 50, but my heart is somewhere around 7 this time of year. I'm sure the crowd will feed off of my energy.


Hope all the ailing merry folk and their kin are improving - positive thoughts continue for all.

As I was drifting off to sleep last night the image Made shared of the snowstorm that crippled Buffalo popped into my mind and I was thankful for not having to endure all of that - it was raining overnight and most of our snow is gone, but there's enough to keep it cheery for the parade.
