I saw a recipe on the Web that called for smooshing together softened butter, cinnamon, sugar, and a little vanilla and/or nutmeg into a spread---spreading bread liberally with it---baking at 350F for 10 minutes---then finishing under the broiler to add a little "crust." Sounds heavenly ...
Oh my gosh - that does sound heavenly!!!!I bet that would be good on a bagel too!

All this talk about baking is making me hungry!

Elizabeth has taken up baking from my mom. She bakes three loaves of fresh bread every week, using a starter my mom gave her that she has to "feed" once a week. She uses a portion of the starter with some bread flour, kneading the dough, letting it rise overnight...the whole 9 yards. I had it at lunch today, and it's out of this world!

Now I'm craving fresh, homemade bread!!
Bless that sweet girl's heart ❤️

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

I had my procedure yesterday. I'm glad that's "behind" me! I got a great report, and was told to come back in 10 years. Nice! Nancy and I ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel afterwards, and the browsing area is FULL of Fall and Christmas stuff. I loved it!

It's rainy and cool here today. I'll live with the rainy, as long as we get the cool. It's still humid, but hopefully that'll clear up in the next few weeks.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

I'm glad your procedure went well, that's great news!

Hope your errands and chores go well today!
I am really craving those comfort foods, too- chicken pot pie sounds delicious! Enjoy!
Have a blessed day!
xx

Thank you so much! ♥

Have an enjoyable day! The chicken pie sounds so cozy!
I'm beginning to crave cinnamon and spice for fall. I wanted to buy cinnamon sugar while I was at the supermarket yesterday, and there was none! So I bought a big shaker and I'll just make my own.

Thanks MerryCarey!
I love cinnamon sugar on my oatmeal! :)

Thanks! It is exciting.
I was JUST looking at your bruschetta chicken recipe! I'm thinking about making it at the lake for tomorrow night. Have you ever heated up the tomato mixture on top of the chicken, like you do with bruschetta? Just curious! I may have to add a little Feta cheese too. I'm a big fan of Feta in bruschetta! :D

Yes, heat the bruschetta and definitely add your favorite cheese. It's so good!!!

Wow!! Awesome! My friend was just telling me on Tuesday that she was in Dollar General & "they have CHRISTMAS things out already...it's not even OCTOBER!!!" I said "I know! I love it!" :p

It's so exciting!

You're welcome! ❤️

Good for you!! I totally get needing a day off. :) Enjoy it, it's well earned and well deserved!

I get my day off tomorrow. My plan is to do some DJ work for Kringle Radio, if no one in the neighborhood is mowing their lawn or blowing leaves. And relax and get some early Christmas vibe on!

I got a surprise yesterday that made my day. My supervisor quietly gave me two days off in October that won't be charged as vacation days. They're compensation for the heavy workload and long hours in the past few weeks. I was so elated, I couldn't think straight for about ten minutes---I was so giddy thinking about what I could do with some time off!

Yay for the days off MerryCarey, so happy for you!

Have a wonderful day HMG!!

Have a great day Brad...Happy Friday Eve!

Thx so much Holiday...have a wonderful day!

Thank you so much SnowflakeMom!
I hope you're having a Happy Thursday!

Evening everyone! Whew what a day. Didn't even manage that tea break till now and it's almost time to start dinner, get the children sorted etc. Hope everyone is having a good day so far.

Merry did you manage to get your day off tomorrow? Hope so!

Hope you're having a relaxing evening Festive!

You and me both!! I am also craving comfort foods. I am making chicken and vegetable casserole with mash tomorrow when I have more time for cooking. Enjoy your delicious dinner!

Thank you so much!

I'm about to make some cozy dishes this weekend as well--it's time to break out the crock pot again I think!

Glad it went well! Love all the fall things in the stores these days!

Thanks! It feels so good. I work so hard during the week and often at least one extra day...time off is just so important. Sounds like an AWESOME way to spend your day off! Thankful your boss gave you that extra time off--you need it!!!

I'm breaking out the crockpot Merry--it's time! I want cinnamon and spice as well. Delish!!!

Love my crockpot! :)

Uhhhhh - I may need this recipe too. That sounds SO good right now! I love pot pie! I use to even love the store bought ones with mashed potatoes on top...not sure if they make them anymore? We are going to have to start a thread just for HMG's recipes!!! :DHave a great day!!!

Here you go!
This is an easier version that I made tonight. When I have the time I follow The Pioneer Woman's recipe, it's more work but so worth it. I promise this recipe is super yummy too!

Chicken Pot Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups diced peeled potatoes
  • 1-3/4 cups sliced carrots
  • 1 cup butter, cubed
  • 2/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1-3/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 3/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 4 cups cubed cooked chicken
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • 2 packages (14.1 ounces each) refrigerated pie pastry
Directions
  • 1. Preheat oven to 425°. Place potatoes and carrots in a large saucepan; add water to cover. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cook, covered, 8-10 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender; drain.
  • 2. In a large skillet, heat butter over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook and stir until tender. Stir in flour and seasonings until blended. Gradually stir in broth and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly; cook and stir 2 minutes or until thickened. Stir in chicken, peas, corn and potato mixture; remove from heat.
  • 3. Unroll a pastry sheet into each of two 9-in. pie plates; trim even with rims. Add chicken mixture. Unroll remaining pastry; place over filling. Trim, seal and flute edges. Cut slits in tops.
  • 4. Bake 35-40 minutes or until crust is lightly browned. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting.

Yum! Thanks for sharing! ❤️

just finished 3 apple crisps, I only bake them about 3/4 done then they go in the freezer when cooled down. This assures the apples to not turn to mush when reheated before eating. My wonderful son peeled all the apples for me
