Good morning all- Happy Friday! Sorry I have been so MIA...work has been crazy and I am starting to get a head cold so I have been going to bed early! Not too much planned for the weekend...my oldest daughter is having a friend sleepover tonight and we have a soccer game tomorrow night. Hope you all have a good day! View attachment 14964
It sounds like a fun weekend. I hope you feel better soon, SnowflakeMom. :(

I had no idea there were any fans of Mrs. Brown here! I hear it's the number-one-rated show on Christmas Day in the U.K.! Someone sent us link to a clip on YouTube last winter, and we wound up buying the entire series. (We have a DVD player than will play PAL.) And yes, definitely not for the kids, but SO funny! It's so profane, I don't know why I enjoy it so much, but it never fails to make me laugh. "That's nice!"

I've heard of "The Vicar of Dibley," it's been on PBS, but I haven't seen an episode. Wait, maybe I have ... we have a DVD of U.K. Christmas episodes, and there might be one on there.
Hmm...now I have to check this out too.

Good Morning, Weekend Eve Arrivers.

Sure enough, just as Weekend Eve arrives, so do the latest count numbers.
And they just keep getting more and more shocking by the day:
Days to Halloween: 8 (ONE WEEK TOMORROW!)
Days to the Season: 21 (Three weeks from today!)
Days to Christmas Day: 63 (Nine weeks from today!)

Wow.
So near, yet so............NEAR!

Beautiful here yesterday for late October.
(Well, actually beautiful for most any time of the year!)
Moderate temps, no precip, gentle breezes, low humidity, plenty of sun.
Who could ask for more?
(Unfortunately, it will just make the inevitable crash that much more difficult to bear!)
Right now, we record 52 degrees here in our little sector of the great state of North Carolina and the weather service says we are bound for the upper 70's by this afternoon.

Well, I shall leave you now in the very capable hands of our tag-team guest counters, Edge and Brent, and will see you here bright and (not too) early Monday morning.

Have a Fabulous Friday, Friends, and a Wildly Wondrous, Wacko Weekend, too!
Thank you, Crown! Have a wonderful weekend!

TGIF, my Christmas friends!

What a busy weekend we have in store! Tomorrow is Bellville's Tom T. Hall Appreciation Day. For those who have never heard of him, Tom T. Hall is a (now retired) country singer/songwriter from the 60's & 70's, when he was a superstar. Anyway, back in the early 70's, when the school that my kids attend was first opening, they had several fund-raising concerts, and Tom T. Hall was booked to play. Before his show started, he walked over to the train depot (the same one across the road from Bernie's store) and was moved to write the song "God Came Through Bellville, GA". It wasn't a smash hit, but it was on his biggest album, "Country Is".

We've decided to dedicate a plaque on the depot in his honor, I've already signed the resolution declaring tomorrow as "Tom T. Hall Day", and we're having an art exhibit. Then later that evening we're having a huge pancake & sausage dinner, and live music. It should be fun!

Here's the song, if you're interested:

We invited him to attend the celebration as the guest of honor, but he said his health won't allow him to travel. He recorded a 10 minute note of appreciation that we'll play during the dedication, and we're sending him a second plaque. I'm looking forward to my last official function as mayor.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Thank you ... I'm at the shop now, and it will be $110 just for the diagnostic, not counting the repairs!!
And to make it worse, I grabbed my backpack on the way out, but my wallet and phone and credit card are in my purse ... Mr. is fetching them and will drive here with my purse ... IF he can find where I left it.
It's one of THOSE days already!
I hear ya...one of THOSE days...but that only means tomorrow will probably be a lot better (since it can't get too much worse?).

Thanks Crown. Brent and I will try to fill your shoes (hard to do).

I'm sorry, I know how you feel. Our car died last weekend on me while coming home from grocery shopping. We knew it would die soon and it did. My husband has been looking at cars all week. He might be picking up a new one today. We haven't had a car payment in years. I HATE cars!
I joke sometimes...the only bigger expense than a car...is a woman :). Then again maybe jokes like that are why I'm single lol.
But seriously...cars are very big expenses yet I can't imagine not having one. I'm not a public transportation type of person at all.

Happy Friday, Brad!
Thank you for sharing Tom T. Hall's song about Bellville! How neat!
Enjoy the celebration tomorrow!
I'll be thinking of you, I know tomorrow will be bittersweet.
Have a blessed day :)

Good Morning, Everyone!
So far a cool cloudy day here (highs in 50's today), but with some hot coffee and music it's not so bad. I have a birthday party to plan and prep for. I have two daughters whose birthdays are both on Oct 31 and my husband's birthday comes shortly after. So, a party for three!
I did not get to making my Christmas cards yesterday, but I will try to get at them today. Very soon it will be time to send cards!
Have a great Friday, Everyone, and a nice weekend too!

Hope you find a reliable car, for a good deal!
They sure can be a pain...! ;)

It is a chilly day! The temperatures aren't too bad, but we have rain and wind here, so it's that damp type of chilly. Hope you guys see some sunshine.
Good luck and have fun with the birthday party prep!
Enjoy your day =]

Bring tea and sympathy!
Holy cow, I've never seen so many large unexpected expenses in such a short amount of time. I hope too that this is the last for a while!
One bright spot is that I have a lot of audio-editing work to do, and thanks to a laptop I can work on that while I wait for the repairs. So my time at the shop isn't being wasted.
Wait, two bright spots ... I can also talk to you while I wait!

That's great that you can work on your audio editing. At least you won't fall behind! I completely understand about all the costs at once. We had an expensive car repair also a couple weeks ago and it ended up needing something else a few days later Grrrrr! Let's hope this is it now for all of us.

Sending tea and shortbread biscuits :D

Hi Festive Spirit

Hope your having a good day

Thanks Irish. It's a good day even though very hectic but it will be slowing down soon. I only just saw about the storms this weekend. I'm glad I don' t have to leave the house tomorrow. Stay safe and cosy.

Would you believe ... on Mr.'s car, the same component has just failed that was damaged on my car a week or so ago. For about the same cost. Ka-ching!! When does the Unexpected Expenses support group meet?? I may need an emergency session!

(Our dealership's service department is honest, so they're not pulling our leg on this.)

That's crazy MerryCarey, sorry to hear that.
