The Wonderful Ties That Bind

What a great year! Another fantastic countdown.
And thread participation WAY beyond what I ever dreamed possible when we first started here almost 10 years ago. (Has it really been that long?)

What keeps us here and keeps us coming back day after day and year after year?
Our common love of Christmas and its wonderful surrounding Season, of course.
But more than that, I think all of us know something truly good when we see it.
We see common ground with each other and we know that only the finest, nicest and kindest people would gravitate to a place such as this one. A site whose very topic insipires this kind of atmosphere. A haven where we can relax, be ourselves and not feel judged, all while wrapped in the contex of a deep, common interest.
(Can the same be said of many -- perhaps most -- other threads on the internet?)

So, as we proceed through the depth of this 50 day Season, hum a Christmas tune, put on a knowing smile and wrap yourselves in the warmth that this time of year and our wonderful members help to impart.

I'm getting SO excited to put up my tree! SO EXCITED!! I planned to start on in Thursday (Nov 19) but my hubby is going to be helping a friend split wood this Sunday ~ I may have to start on it?! (Wouldn't he be surprised when he gets home!)

Evening everyone!
You will not believe the kind of day I am having. So many mishaps one after the next and to top it all off as I was about to put dinner on, the cooker isn't working!!!!!!!!! It has something to do with the install of the new heating yesterday. It is a gas cooker so they obviously missed a step when doing whatever.

With the disruption yesterday, we had take out for dinner as the house was in mess so tonight was the first time using it the cooker. It shouldn't have affected the cooker but something has obviously gone terribly wrong!!

So it's take out again tonight - Pizza !

I will try my best and catch up with posts later. I have not even had time to read Brent's special post today!!! Hope everyone is having an easier day than me ! LOL!

Not to worry - tomorrow is the start of the season !!!!

I've had an account in this forum for so much time but have not written a lot, just enjoyed reading you guys! Well, i'm actually thrilled with the season so close, where I live we start summer vacations (Southern hemisphere) by the start of December, so it's amazing it is so close to Christmas. Also it's my birthay on the 18th of December so I freakin love that month!

Can't wait to end my exams and just start my classic Christmas season!

Good Afternoon MMC !

Had to take my van into the ford dealership this morning which is why I could not be here sooner. It got recalled for a defect in the rear axle. They inspected it and found a hole about the size of a dot, so recommended it be replaced. Would only cost me $300 which is my share of the cost. hmmmm, factory defect but I have to pay....is something wrong with that thinking or is it just me?

Anyway, back to the really important stuff...working on the model for my gingerbread house for this year competition.

Hope the cat is working again. And yes sounds strange to have to pay "your party".

I forgot how much work it is just to make the pattern for the gingerbread house...2 hours of work and not even half done....good thing this is fun or it would feel like work !

I just awoke from a nice nap. I needed it after my surgery today. Obviously, everything went great and I am in much less pain than I had anticipated. The real unfortunate part is that I can't really afford the $1100. Ouch. Thankfully, I am covered. Hopefully the funds return in about a month... I may have posted that, but I can't recall due to being a little out of it from the drugs when I returned home.

I am working at Russell tomorrow. The teacher said that I would be helping her class setup their Christmas Tree during the repeat period. She knows me too well! I am quite excited. I will be able to setup TWO Christmas Trees tomorrow. Hooray!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!! And Happy Fiday!! Wish I could have joined last night in the countdowns, but I've had little sleep with my work load at the university (I'm a custodian there) having doubled since Sept 1, going through a consolidation with my church and another and being a major player in that plus having a part time job at a radio station and our staff is dwindling there so I have more to do there also. My head would have made a louder crash than Jay's if I had tried to stay up. If it weren't for everyone here, I'd probably go crazy. I know I don't post much, but I do keep tabs and hope to contribute more in the little downtime I do get.
