Christmas Countdown - 2017

Good morning MMC! This is my 1st post of the BERS!!! It sure has been feeling like the BRRRS too! Yesterday was nice (but WINDY) - tonight we're supposed to get down to 47º! Cold weather doesn't need to move in SO fast!!!

I believe little Lucy has already become a big fan of the lake & the people! She got very spoiled over the weekend! There were a lot of tears too! It's amazing how loved my Gracie girl was! Everyone thought getting Lucy was the best thing for all of us! She's a nut!

Our groomer texted us asking if we or any of our animal loving friends would be interested in fostering or adopting dogs from Texas. Our local animal protection league is getting a shipment of TX dogs at the end of the week. I filled out an applications, so we'll see what happens. So sad!

Good Morning, MMC!!! I'm dragging so far today but I really need to get myself in gear. The apartment is trashed from the nieces and I want to give it a good deep cleaning before I leave. If something were to happen I don't want people coming in and saying dang they were slobs. I want them to be saying, where in the world did he display all of these Santa Clauses at in this apartment. And my god, how many ornaments do you really need? Lol!! Well I better get something going. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Hi MMC! Maybe it's the start of the 'Bers tomorrow or knowing Christmas is coming soon, but something said to me to check out the site tonight. Thinking now that the season is getting closer, I'm going to try and visit more often. Hope all is well with everyone!

Good morning, beautiful people!

Semester and uni work has got me from the very first week and since I'm an early riser today (don't have any classes but an appointment at the hospital early in the morning, so I made it out of bed at 6am), I thought I'll pop in and congratulate everyone since we are now in 'Bers months! ^^ I listened to Holiday music last night for the first time since last Season and it was SO nice! I'm really happy we are finally in fall and winter. Not sure how excited everybody else is but I sure am. (I was told that winters in the part of Norway I'm in tend to be quite harsh and stormy, so I think I'll get to the point when I won't no longer be excited myself but for now, I'm not complaining.)

I truly hope that everyone is well. And for those who were on the path of hurricane Harvey, I hope you survived it without any major loss - in any shape or form.

Good Friday morning! A 4-day weekend for me. It's so cold this morning, a measly 7°C/44°F. First time in a long time that I'll have to wear a jacket to walk Loki. As much as I look forward to the Christmas season, I wish Summer would last longer. This will be a day for chores and running errands, trying to get a lot done so there will be less to do this weekend. Hope everyone has a great day!

And how can a 4 day weekend go so fast???? I hope you had a great one!!!

Happy FriBERday?! I don't think it works like that, does it?

As many of you have already said, we have reached the 'BERS! It's that time of the year where everything seems so much closer than before. It's wonderful!

I'd love to stay and chat, but I still have far too much happening. I need to do some cleaning, hopefully go to the gym, pack my clothes and a few other things, pickup some groceries... I'm sure there's more. Kim and I are heading to a campground setting for yet another wedding. Our friends Cassie (who lived with us for about five months) and Craig will be getting married tomorrow afternoon. They've rented an entire summer camp/plenty of cabins for the weekend. It's going to be a different wedding, that's for sure. Anyway, about 50 of our closest friends will be there, so it's going to be a wonderful time. The only real issue is the weather. It's going to be chilly! Temperatures yesterday and today are in the mid teens (upper 50s). Tomorrow, we should reach the lower 20s (70s) with plenty of sun. Phew!

I hope your all having a good day. I have so far stuck to my early morning walks with Bruno my boy and today there was a definite nip in the air so the colder weather really did make me feel all festive this morning.

Holiday - glad to see your little newbie is keeping you busy......Ive attached a photo of our littlest newbie who comes home in 18 days - we took the kids to meet her today and she is a little sweetheart - tiny - but definitely the boss we have chosen to name her Nicki

Oh gosh! Nicki is adorable!!! Let the fun spoiling begin!!! I bet it's hard to wait for her to come home!

What a wonderful initiative from your local animal protection league. I really hope that those poor pups find a new loving home. And how nice of you to volunteer as well Holiday. Did you apply to foster or adopt? Glad to hear that Lucy loved the lake and that she is helping everyone heal through the passing of sweet Gracie. Enjoy your day!

Dismal wet day here again but not too cold. Kids are enjoying their last couple days home before they return to school on Wednesday. Usually mum has gone by this time so it has been nice to have her here when the kids go back. The time is going quickly She is already more than half way through her trip

Happy Labour Day, friends!

Kim and I returned from the wedding yesterday afternoon. It was an absolutely perfect day. Our good friend/old roommate Cassie and her (now) husband Craig had beautiful weather and a perfect ceremony. The celebrations (from what I can remember) were pretty good, too! It would have been impossible to find a face that didn't have a smile all night. I don't like sharing photos a whole lot on here (especially when they're not Christmas related, but their photographer has already posted this one that looks like it could be from a fairytale.

Cassie is probably my best (girl) friend from the Frisbee community that has given me so much in Ottawa. Seeing her looking absolutely stunning and so happy made me very proud... I never thought I would get emotional at this wedding, and then I must admit that choked up when I saw her walk down the aisle. So happy for her!

Kim and I can now rest. That was our third wedding of the year and we're all done attending weddings... Wait. Did I say rest? Ha... Our wedding is in a mere 20 days, so I guess there's no time for rest. Thankfully, however, Kim has been amazing with everything and we only have a few small details to finish. Before we know it, we'll be walking down the aisle on Saturday, September 23rd!

I hope you've all had a great weekend. I saw my first Halloween commercial this morning. When someone says "It's too early for a Christmas commercial, just remember that Halloween commercials are on TV 56 days before Halloween!" Until then, let's keep enjoying the 'BERS and celebrate that our time is right around the corner!

Good Evening, MMC!!! It's been a long weekend. I've had my nieces since Friday and let's just say that I may have done cartwheels out to my car after dropping them off. Nothing like a soon to be teenager to make you wish for a straight jacket and padded room. Now I've got to get cracking on preparing for our family reunion in PA on Saturday. I'm going to be leaving early Friday morning to head that way. So not much time to get stuff done. I hope everyone had a great Labor Day and has a wonderful week!!!

Merry Morning all!

It is so dark outside and pouring rain but not very cold so that's okay. Thinking about it, even though we had a wet summer , it was quite warm.

Well it's the kids last day of summer vacation and they return to school tomorrow. My youngest is going into Year 1 and beginning his primary school life while my eldest will be in his final year before high school next year!!!! I feel dizzy thinking about how fast they're growing!

I feel a little sad for them , their summer seemed to fly by! Anyway, next up will be their half term break which is placed nicely over Halloween!!!

Good luck to your kids in school this year!! Going back to work after the holiday is a little rough! I did get a nice break this morning though - the lady staying with mom asked me to come over to relieve her for about 30 minutes so she could go gather eggs. She has free range chickens & the best eggs! YUM!

Ribeyes, BBQ basted chicken breasts, potato salad, baked potatoes, corn on the cob and freshly baked bread. We did have dessert, but no one got to it... lol

Good Morning, Everyone!

Back after a successful visit to the cottage. Everything was in pretty good shape after our 47th consecutive rental season. There is always some problem needing correction but rarely anything major.
(Now, if Irma will just stay away......)

The first order of business is to formally thank both Edge and NcGunny for keeping the count running with their usual dependable class!

And speaking of the count, just look how far it has advanced:
Days to the Season: 69
Days to Christmas Day: 111

And can we really be down to just ELEVEN days to the 100-day Christmas Day Window, meaning of course, SINGLE DIGITS from the day after tomorrow?
Well, if you believe the count data, the answer is a resounding "YES!".
(But don't take my word for it. Research for yourselves! The count chart is located at post number one of this thread.)


The weather was on the warm and humid side at the beach but rain was not a significant factor, although we did get some.
This week should be warm but not hot, with a bit of rain predicted for late today and tomorrow.
We are at 67 degrees here, currently.

Happy Tuesday, MMC! Just work for me today and my youngest is playing is fall softball. She has a practice tonight and a game on Sunday. Although we may get some rain/t-storms so not sure if we get the practice in tonight or not?? Hope you all have a great day!

Good Tuesday morning! Yesterday felt like a Sunday. It's back to work for an afternoon/evening shift today. Right now I'm cooking chili for supper. Last night I dreamed that we had received tons of Christmas merchandise at the store. It's a tad too early for that, we're in full-on Fall decor mode right now. Hope everyone will have a wonderful day!

We had chili over the fire this weekend. SO! GOOD! Enjoy!!!!
