DD spent the weekend on her first overnight (two nights!) trip without a family member with her---success! She sent several texts about how much she loved & missed us, and I'm treasuring them, because I know that won't last through the teenage years.
I took Mom to a Christmas open house on Saturday. At my parent's house, I put together & fluffed both of the big pre-lit trees & fluffed two small trees. Mom has five trees & loves Christmas! She will decorate the trees over the next few days. When I got home, I wrapped all of DD's gifts while she was away. Only waiting on one more of her gifts to be shipped, then Santa has done his job for our house this year.
I found out today that there won't be a home tour in my hometown this year. I guess people are afraid of strangers roaming around in their home? I don't blame them, but it was fun while it lasted. Mom & I try to cram in all the Christmasy activities together that we can.
Busy holiday week, but so thankful to have my family to spend it with! We live 20 minutes from my parents & 45 minutes from DH's parents, so we don't have far to travel.
Thursday: breakfast with DH's family. Might visit with my parents in the afternoon. If I feel up to it, we'll put the main tree up.
Friday: Taking Mom & DD to Fantasy of Trees, then lunch at Jason's Deli. We've only missed a couple of years since DD was born and she loves the tradition. Once you start something with her, she wants to stick with it! If I feel up to it, more decorating at home.
Saturday: Decorating the rest of the house for Christmas then Old Fashioned Downtown Christmas in my hometown with Mom. This year DH will be playing keyboard for one of the singers, so DD will go with us.
Sunday: church, Thanksgiving lunch with my family, church again
Most years I'm in a hurry to get the decorations up so I can enjoy them. I feel like they should all be up by mid-day on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. If I get the early start on Thanksgiving night, then I won't feel rushed!
