Christmas Countdown - 2017

Hi MMC! I'm headed to work today-never fun on a weekend, but must be done. Today's still fairly hot at muggy here, but looking ahead to Labor Day weekend, the humidity and heat break and it looks phenomenal!! Not wishing any time away-just enjoying what I can out of each day. Hope everyone has an enjoyable Sunday (and doesn't have to work!!)

Its a dark and cold wet day here in South Wales. Trying to figure out what to put in the slow cooker for tea and getting on with some housework. Not much Christmas preparation done today as Im focused more on the kids going back to school soon.

More of the same old same old except that today it's supposed to be even worse with highs in the mid 90's. (And I don't even want to thinks about the heat index readings.)

What is it about August that turns on my Christmas spirit? Before bed last night I was shopping on Amazon for concert-quality sleigh bells and daydreaming about walking around the neighborhood after dark on Christmas Eve ringing them in the streets ...

Not too much excitement here about tomorrow's solar eclipse, as only about 63% of the sun will be covered here, but it should be interesting to see it get dark during the daytime. If it's slow at the office I'll run outside with a paper plate with a pinhole in the middle to see if I can project the crescent on the ground.

We are going to be at around 94%. As a former science teacher, I'm pretty excited! I would be out there with ya, but some professors from our local university are sending up weather balloons to around 50,000 and streaming from those balloons. We are also keeping kids in...

Some parents are upset, but I was worried about advertising to this crazy world that our kids will be outside at a certain time...just Friday, we had a man pull a knife out on someone a few houses down from the school. What is wrong with this world?

(They just need a little more Christmas in their lives!)

Greetings Sugarmuffin. Yes, there will always be those who think the season comes to early. Probably because for them, that's all it is... one day. For those of us who have arrived at this location, we understand how much more it is than just a tree, a present or what can be a hectic time of year. It is a feeling that holds a place in our hearts far above (and beyond) the 25th of December.

That is a very good way to explain it!! SO many people consider it a one day affair...but to me (and I am sure all of you), it is a feeling I love to have and stretch it out as long as possible. I think about and plan for Christmas all year through!

Just relaxing today...my daughter has soccer camp from 3-5 and i may go to the gym later and I would like to relax on the deck and maybe read for a bit. The weather is beautiful out there!

85 Days to the Christmas Season? I think you may have check your calendar again, Crown! Oh my goodness... We are so close to the Season! As a matter of fact, I always consider the 20th of August as a reminder of just how close we are, indeed, to the Season. We're inching our way toward a lot of wonderful things.

Good evening, everyone!

A quick stop-in for me. It was non-stop pretty much all week. I was busy with some last minute training and getting some wedding stuff done... After all, we're only about a month and three days away from September 23rd!

In terms of training, I played in my first (Ultimate Frisbee) national championship in three years. It was here in Ottawa and my friend that now lives in Calgary asked me to play for his team. We didn't finish exactly where we wanted, but I had a blast playing. It was a lot of fun and I'm happy that I decided to "unretire" from competitive Ultimate for a few days.

As much as it pains me to say, it looks as if I only really have two more weeks of summer. I thought August would be my quiet/rest/recharge month, but it hasn't been so. Hopefully these next two weeks will be a little more calm and allow me do more things for myself. We'll see how it goes!

Well, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We're inching closer to those "'BER" months!

Thank you Merry! I'm good now, actually better than I've been in a long while. I've sorted through all of the small things and the bigger bads, prayed, thought and adjusted. I've evaluated my failures and sins and accepted it all. As Leonard Cohen says, "Forget your perfect offering, There's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in".
