Good Morning, Friends!

We have arrived at the one-week mark!
(Explanation to follow.)

Today's data:
Days to the Season: 65
Days to Christmas Day: 107

And, of course, by the ONE WEEK mark, we are referring to the fact that we are now exactly 7 days away from the 100-DAY CHRISTMAS DAY Window.
And it also goes without saying that the following day, our count becomes a binary double-digit one.
(Starting to get exciting, Guys!)

Wonderfully cool, fall-like weather was had here yesterday with highs in the low 70's, plenty of sun and no precipitation of any kind.
But even better news than that, is the fact that Hurricane Irma is now expected to pass well to our west, taking central NC completely out of the cone of probability.
The winds are also supposed to be below tropical storm force by the time it reaches our latitude. Let's hope those predictions hold!
We currently are at 59 low humidity degrees here in the capital city.

Have a Sensational Saturday, Everybody.
And may your Weekend be a great one!
Thanks Crown! Glad you will miss the hurricane!

Good morning and Happy Saturday!
It's going to be sunny today with highs near 70, we're currently at 54 degrees. I'm heading out soon to make a big food shopping trip. Back home afterward to work on some chores around the house. I may take a ride to JoAnn's this afternoon to look at their Autumn decor. We'll be grilling burgers & hot dogs for dinner later tonight. That's about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful weekend.
Thoughts and prayers for everyone in the path of the hurricane. Be safe.
Our local Jo-Ann's has plenty of autumn/Halloween/Thanksgiving decor on display! Enjoy your visit there! (And save me a hot dog, pls ... )

Happy weekend, everyone! Just having a cup of tea and dropping in on my digital friends ...

I'm enjoying the weekend, but my heart is aching for Florida residents who are waiting for the hurricane to hit ... even those who are evacuated, because they will be wondering if they will have a home left to return to. I pray that people will be spared too much suffering.

And even more glad it will miss us!
Lol..I once saw a alligator rolling down our dirt road during a hurricane. I think I actually thought maybe we should have went to Greenville or Wilson during that one... good times!!

It looks like it may miss us! Whew!! Although I still don't trust it one bit and worried about all in it's path.

Christmas lights and the mountains? My two favorite things! I've been through Maggie Valley a few times. Wanted to see what Ghost Town looked like now compared to my childhood. We mainly spend time in Cherokee and Bryson City when we go. I don't think any food beats the Cork & Bean in Bryson City. Almost worth the 3 1/2 hour drive just to eat!
Ghost town has been closed for a few years now. We go to Cherokee, Bryson City and Dillsboro a lot, too. We like to picnic at the Islands Park in Cherokee, and rent pontoon boats on Fontana Lake. Lots of fun!

Good Saturday evening, Christmas friends.

We've decided to stay home since Irma seems to be tracking farther west. I hope that's a good decision. It's a toss-up between fighting the wind, or risking the overcrowded roads.

While I was closing the pool and moving lawn furniture to the shop, we got the call that our niece had suddenly passed away while watching her son play a baseball game. She was only 33 and hadn't been sick. She left two children, 10 and 4.

The storm is also demanding our attention, and we can't even plan her funeral yet because of it. It's just so very sad.

I hope you all stay safe!

Brad, how awful. My heart goes out to her family and to you.

Wow Brad that is so hard to comprehend. I'm sorry to hear that.

Greetings everyone!

Its been quite some time since I've posted anything. I pop in occasionally and read, but in the past months our family has been through a great deal and I haven't been posting much of anything anywhere. We're in Florida, so this evening instead of sitting and watching local weather forecasts updating on Hurricane Irma every 10 minutes, I decided I'd rather have some fun and post on the forum, think about Christmas and all the wonderful things still to come.

I'm going to peruse the site for a while, get caught up, see what Christmas trouble I can get into, but just wanted to post to say I think about the members of this site on a daily basis. I have never met any of you in person, nor spoken on the phone, but the conversations and sharing are always with me and mean more than you may know.

Hope everyone is well and blessed and looking forward to the upcoming Christmas season!! I did buy my first autumn home decoration a few days ago at Hobby Lobby. It made me entirely too happy to see this display:

Many season greetings to you all!

Evening gang. Got up a little earlier than planned, but that's alright as it gave me some more time with my wife and a leisurely dinner. Now the clock tells me I need to get headed out the door and to my last shift for this week. The storm coverage on the Weather Channel looks ominous for the people in the southern regions of the country. I hope and pray that people in the path get away. I can only imagine the possible possession losses, but certainly nothing compared to the loss of a neighbor or loved one.
Sure makes the occasional mid-western blizzard seem trivial. For the rest of the community, stay safe, have a restful evening and a great Sunday.
Holiday, last time I checked, it didn't look like much of an offense on either side of the ball between Ohio State and Oklahoma. Go Buckeyes...
Have a good night.jpg

Morning everyone,
Dismal and raining here but I'll take it. The havoc of hurricanes in the Caribbean and the US is an immense tragedy. We may live with rain every day but grateful we are not in dangerous weather.
Prayers for all.

Had a nice day out shopping on Friday. Halloween is making it's debut across our town now. good bye summer indeed.
Off to work , have a great day.

Morning all,
Pretty much the same as Festive :-) rain and wind here this morning, its dismal and cold but weirdly quite nice being cuddled up inside. Just me and the smallest person are up and chilling out watching videos :-)
Halloween has hit some of our shops so far so have the kids deciding what they want to dress as now so I can get in there quickly. No doubt we will be trick or treating again this year :-) provided the weather isnt too bad

Hope all those affected by the hurricanes are ok and safe. My friend is in Orlando at the minute and so far seems to be ok but hoping to hear from her in the next few hours.

Stay safe and have a good day!
x

Good Morning, Guys.

Continuing on with our count, we present another data release:
Days to the Season: 64
Days to Christmas Day: 106

And there you have it.
We are now UNDER the ONE WEEK mark to the 100-DAY CHRISTMAS DAY WINDOW!
Then, we begin a double-double-digit count to our two goals.
(Wow!)

The incredible, fall-like weather continues here unabated.
It normally feels like this in mid-October, not early September, but believe me we will take it!
Currently, we see another rather chilly 54 degrees here at this hour, with the promise of another nice, sunny, dry day ahead.
(On the negative side, we do have several relatives down in Florida, but they are either in sturdy structures or have evacuated, as Irma bears down.)

Have a Super Sunday Folks, wherever you may be (which hopefully is not in Irma's path!)

Very sorry to hear this Bradmac. Sending warm thoughts to her family and everyone close to her. I lost my mother when I was little too, I'll be keeping her two children in my thoughts.

I've always said that we shouldn't complain about major snowstorms because compared to what we see elsewhere (tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes), the worst we get is maybe a power outage and closed roads. Hoping for everyone to be safe.

I'm so sorry for your loss Brad, that is heartbreaking. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Be safe in the storm.
