Good morning MMC!!! Merry Christmas Season!!
-merry-
I'm looking forward to catching up on the special posts & the countdown! I fell asleep on the couch last night & woke up at 11:45 - my 1st thought was to log on for the countdown, but I was just too sleepy!!!!
My sunroom tree is up & decorated, & so far Little Lu has let it alone! xx I loved yesterday ~ Christmas music cranked through the house, decorating. Then I sat by the tree & watched Garfield Thanksgiving & then Hallmark Christmas movies. That's was a good Sunday Funday!!

I want to go back & do it all over again! Ah well - Monday, Monday!

Have a good Monday everyone!!!

A very pleasant morning to one and all. Was sleeping during the countdown and now I'm taking a break from cleaning my garage. Yes, even at 1AM, there are things that I can be doing. The Halloween crate has been stowed away and the Thanksgiving one is off to the side for storage in a mere eleven days. Some of the Christmas boxes (or very large plastic totes) are coming out so I can see what is available this year and while the wife and daughter are sleeping, I may finish the lights on one of the trees (that one will be all green this season).
One of the things I love most about Christmas, besides the most important in our Savior's birth, is the way it affects and causes change within so many. You can hear it in the songs, view it in the writings, feel it in the generous spirit and of course see it in the eyes of both young and old alike. The magic, the wonder, the joy, the peace we feel are but a few of the presents all who truly believe in this time of year receive freely. What gift from a store could possibly equal it?
I actually feel sorry for those who view it as only once a year or take offense at the early arrival. Over commercialization has indeed ruined it for some, but those who carry it all year round in their hearts see past the greed and those who would try to encompass every manufactured product under the banner of Christmas. We know and understand better than many, to our joy and their unknown loss.
So to each, a very happy holiday season and whether you still have Thanksgiving to look forward to our if it has passed, the best, as they say, it yet to come...

Good morning MMC ~
Just popping in quick to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas season of 2017!
I only have a few minutes, I have an early morning MRI appointment. I’ll be back later.

Wow, gorgeous tree! And you know what, the exposed brickwork and dark-wood accents of your furniture + window frame really gels with the colour of the tree decor.

Fung Shway, baby.

Merry Christmas Season!! Your tree looks beautiful!
Great news about Lucy!
Have a great Monday!

Well, the Season is here again one more time after another year of counting down together.

The years are really starting to pile up, now. We have been at this for a long time.
In fact, the Countdown has slowly made itself into a wonderful Christmas tradition! A tradition it has been my pleasure to share with each and every one of you over the last ten years here at MMC.
And thanks to our annual real-time count last night, I'm really starting to feel once again in the Christmas spirit! (And that's really the whole idea, isn't it?)

A heart-felt thanks to all of you, both newcomers and old-timers, for helping to make this year, and the decade's worth of years that have come before it, really special here at MMC.

Now full speed ahead into Christmas Season 2017!
Have fun, my friends.
Put on some Christmas music.
Dust off those ornaments.
Pop in a Chritmas movie.
Start thinking about that eggnog and sugar cookies.
And above all, don't waste a moment -- enjoy the Season experience to the fullest.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Ah ok, so pretty much the same as what I remember - once halloween is done, wallop - chrimbo.

Not complaining mind you, happy to see it arrive asap. But yes, in today's world, everything is rapid-fire, go-go-go, out with one celebration in with another.

It's almost paradoxical in its nature - we wish the time would fly only to get to the point where we wish it would slow to a crawl.

The ramp-up has begun here - but until "Wham! - LC" is blaring out over the lautsprecher in the supermarkets, Switzerland has not truly arrived :)

The chocolate displays are up, "Lebkuchen" and things, but the full-on Xmas-themed foods and deco (other than basic lighting) is not yet there.

HOWEVER - just this morning, on my way in, i passed a few cars from just across the border (Germany) which were caked in snow!

The air is more crisp, too - the wetness has gone - it's going to snow, and soon!
Must be gorgeous in winter over there.
You are so right about wanting it to get here and then wishing it would slow down. Ain't that the truth!
i saw Lebkuchen yesterday and I regretted I did not get some in along with a bottle of mulled wine. With the freezing temps outside , I am feeling the festive spirit! lol
First snowfall of the season is extra special. Enjoy when it comes!

You'd think so, but tbh, only my first xmas was white - the rest were miserable weather-wise... "green christmas" as they say. Felt really ripped off :-D

The snow tends to come and stick around in Jan/Feb... more like Feb, and of course that's no good at all!

These are my favourite Lebkuchen:

Those look great!! I may visit the german market this weekend and get some.

Yeah we have had pretty mild winters for the last few years with only a dusting come Feb / March ... May even
Last big snowfall was 2010!

ahh a German market - well, then - your "Gluehwein" shortfall can be addressed nicely!

There used to be a "Winter Wonderland" in Hyde park - i went one year, was quite nice.

Are you in the northern or southern part of England? I ask, because my Dad is in the northern part, country-side - and his little village and those dotted around maintain a Ye Olde England vibe around Christmas. Alas, no German market though!

Enjoy it!

Proud to be a Northerner :D:D

Oh yes the old small towns you can't find on the maps are always the best. Where are you from North ? South?
