Christmas Countdown - 2017

Hello All,

I hope everyone is well and blessed. I started posting again in September, and had intended to have more frequency in the Forum, but our family had something happen and oddly enough of all the places where I have had to say this, this Christmas forum is the most difficult for me.

On October 2nd my son was killed in a motorcycle accident. For those of you who remember me, you may recall that my son is my only child and the light of our life. He just recently turned 21, and was to be in our county's Sheriff Academy for the spring 2018 class. He was also engaged to be married.

Thanksgiving was difficult, but it's Christmas that for the first time in my life, I'm almost dreading. I don't want to be, particularly because my son loved Christmas just as much as I do and he would be so upset to know that his passing made me so sad that I didn't even want to celebrate Christmas as we always have. It would just make him feel worse. So I will do my level best to deck the halls, choose a tree that he would have selected himself, and bake all of his favorite cookies to distribute them among his friends and former co-workers.

This forum has always been a place of goodness and fun to me. I suppose it's why it took me the longest to post here.

Good Wednesday morning! This week seems really long as I'm still feeling tired after our work Christmas party. I'm looking forward to my next day off, Saturday. I'm working the afternoon/evening shift today, so I'm taking it easy this morning. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good morning MMC! Merry Pines Day! The last one of November - how did that happen??

I have to say I was shocked to hear about Matt Lauer being fired this morning. The 1st thing I thought of was the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade!! When I think of the parade I think of Al & Matt. So sad all the way around!

I got a few more decorations out yesterday. I'm really having a hard time getting it in gear this year. I think it's just been too nice outside. Lucy & I took a nice walk after work yesterday - didn't even need a coat! Crazy! I need to kick it in gear the next 2 nights though b/c those are my last chances to get everything ready for candy day on Sunday! EEK!

I haven't had Primanti Brothers since the last time we were in Pittsburgh...which has been too many years ago! Love the original one!!

My daughter chose a mermaid style. It’s funny because she was torn between the mermaid and a ball gown, opposite styles. She just knew as soon as she put it on that was her dress!

Here it is so far. My battery operated lights on the wreaths and the swag are getting a bit drowned out. I plan to keep going past the window on the right.

Looks like we will have a warmer day today and not too much going on tonight. My daughter has basketball practice and I need to fold my overflowing laundry basket of clothes!
I am going to make a roast in the crockpot for dinner. Everyone eats it so it is an easy meal!

Sitting here in a nice quiet house watching ET and sipping on eggnog.
Penny on my lap and it’s a nice evening.
Tomorrow we have to take the gingerbread houses to the competition site and it’s not done yet I should be downstairs working on that not watching a movie. But I guess sometimes it’s just nice to sit and be lazy.

Morning MMC! Anyone see Rudolph? I saw part of it but Rollins wanted to play so I had to keep an eye on him and Rudolph at the same time. But I have the DVD so I can put it back on any time this week. Wow last week at this time we were getting ready for Thanksgiving and now we're getting ready for December! Still loving the lights out there...it's awesome. Heard it's going to get colder in 7-10 days from now. We might have a cold Mid-December. Could that give us a shot at a white Christmas? Maybe...we'll see. Have a great day!

I thought of it at 8:30 last night..."I'M MISSING RUDOLPH!!!" I did turn it on but was busy doing other things, so I sort of watched it. I'll have to watch again. Have a great day Edge!

Its going to be breezy and mild today, highs near 58 degrees. I’m heading out soon to get my mid week food shopping over with. Back home afterward to catch up with the laundry. My mother is stopping by later this afternoon to visit. That’s about it for me. Dinner will be spaghetti & meatballs

Good Morning, Everyone.
Getting near to a new and very special month. The month of Christmas!

Ready for today's count?
Well, ready or not, here it is:
Days to Christmas Day: 26 (Getting close now to THREE and 1/2 WEEKS!)
(Better check that TV schedule for those annual specials. Tonight is Christmas in Rockefeller Circle and tomorrow night, A Charlie Brown Christmas.)


Right nice here yesterday, with temps in the 60's.
Today and tomorrow should be a repeat, with little to no chance of rain.
We are standing at 46 degrees here right now.


Alright, Folks. With Thanksgiving now past, our favorite inn has returned once again to Christmas decor. Be sure to stop by for this final "Pines open house of November. (Things get into full Christmas swing once we enter December, Carl's favorite month of the year. He really starts to cut loose. You don't want to miss it!)
