God bless you for doing that the past few years. People need to bone up on St. Nick. Getting blowback when you are trying to bring people some joy during the season is absurd.
I guess I could understand if the money come from donations and we were just shoppers for them. But when I foot the entire bill and then have to store everything most of the year...it is a slap in the face to be told what I can buy and cant with my own money. It has nothing to do with any organization, its about families with children that have no Christmas to look forward to until we arrive.

That is too bad when weird political and religious views wreck such a great campaign. How can you not have Santa or nutcrackers on a Christmas tree? Neither are political or religious symbols and nutcrackers are violent towards what? Nuts? Maybe they'll change their minds if the number of donators drop. It's such a shame. Hope you find other ways to stay involved NcGunny, it's a great thing you are doing.
I found that outrageous, too. The only violence I could think of that could be leveled against nutcrackers is aggression toward the Mouse King ... and THAT was self-defense.

It took a few tries before I realized about the tightness of the stitches. I saw nowhere in the video where the lady even mentioned it.
It's called "tension," and it refers to making consistent stitches that are neither too tight or too loose. It's kinda assumed that you know that's the way it should be. Beginners' tutorials probably mention tension. After a while, you just get a feel for it and it happens automatically.

He was going to explain the Nutcracker..but I have a very aggressive attitude and tend to intimidate people to get my way..lol..blame 23 years in the Marines. He had told my friend it was because the Nutcrackers are viewed as soldiers and this is the wrong view to show children. Just odd stuff like "Angel" tree toppers because it doesnt promote every religious view. All this and the guy couldnt even look me in the eye and spew his reasoning. I am probably the only one that they wouldnt have to worry about with religious deco. I always include a Star and a Angel though, then they can choose. Maybe we have blown it out of proportion, but I think 15 of us so far can do it on our own.

My eyes are still rolling. I hope you and the others can do your own next year without the asinine restrictions.

Good morning MMC!
Good news about my daughter..all her blood work came back normal so the Dr said she just need to up her calorieintake. I wish I had that problem..lol
My daughter has a basketball game today and my husband and I have a holiday party tonight.
Hope you all have a great day!

I’m glad the blood work was normal, that’s great news!

Good Sunday morning! We got in late from our party last night and of course I was still up way too early! I am just enjoying a cup of coffee and my youngest daughter has a basketball game and then a Secret Santa gift exchange at a friend’s house. My plan is to fold laundry this afternoon and watch The Holiday. Hope you all have a great day!

** CHRISTMAS SEASON DAY 35 **

Good Morning, MMC Citizens!

Well, the pace has certainly quickened as we move in rapidly on the end of our long count that really hasn't seemrd so long.
Christmas Day is nearly here.

The daily count:
Days to Christmas Day: 8 (ONE WEEK FROM TOMORROW, GUYS!!)
(Drawing ever so near, now.)

We managed to reach 50 for our afternoon high yesterday and should do another 5 degrees better than that today. But that's only the beginning as we are supposed to enter the mid 60's by early next week, with no chance of rain until Wednesday.
Our thermometer reads 36 degrees here at this hour.

I hope you have a Super Sunday.
As for me.....well......my two favorite NFL teams are playing each other this afternoon, so I know I will be both sad and glad at the end of the game!

Good morning ~
Happy Sunday!
Not too much going on here today. I ordered the last of my Christmas gifts yesterday. Everything is supposed to arrive before the 25th, fingers crossed! I just have to pick up a couple of gift cards and I will be finished. I’m glad I have all of next week to wrap and concentrate on my menu plan for Christmas Day. We’re getting so close!
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!

Good morning everyone.

Well, the warm air is moving back in for the early part of this week. I am not happy about that! But it is suppose to turn cold by the end of the week and next weekend. There is a slight possibility of snow, but they keep putting in and taking it out of the forecast for the 23rd-26th.

My wife and I saw Murder on the Orient Express yesterday; it was fantastic. Great cast, acting, and writing. Very well done.
This week I only have three days of school and it is semester exams. Very boring for me, just sitting there watching people take tests. Then grading those tests while the next class takes tests. Wednesday is a 2 hour early dismissal which is nice.

Today I am going to do some Christmas shopping for my wife. I have a few places to go, but it will be fun. It is strange, I really am not a fan of going to stores and shopping, except at Christmas time. Then, even with the crowds and chaos, I enjoy it. Strange I know.

Everyone have a great day!

That's great news! Thanks for letting us know that she's ok!

Morning all!! Yesterday marked my 3rd year of participating in the local Christmas for Families campaign. It most likely was my last...due to political/religious pressure they have changed the way you can donate. Each family is supplied a entire Christmas tree and all the deco to go with it. No part of the donations come from the organization, it all is supplied from the donator. This year they pushed back the dropoff date until yesterday which had me infuriated for 2 months now. This coming year they want all neutral religious ornaments. Nothing that can have a political implication. No Santa images and no Nutcracker images (nutcrackers are violent..thats what they told me) Sadly this is what we have resorted to in this day and age. I have contacted a few others who have told them they are done... It might just come down to us running our own group now.
Creating your own organization sounds like the best plan. It's a shame that recent hysteria has rippled down into our favorite time of year.
