Yes!!! The wife likes my pulled chicken barbecue. I've been playing around more and more in the kitchen, trying to learn to cook by just doing it. I go to my grandmothers recipe book for help and ideas and if that doesn't work, I go on-line.
This morning for breakfast, I made this dish that my grandfather used to make for breakfast, when I was a kid and all thru my years. I would watch him cook this at the kitchen stove, when I was little, while standing on my little step stool so I could see him better. He'd tell me stories and I would listen and watch him with all the wonder in the world.
You cook some hamburgers in a pan with salt and pepper and a little bit of butter or oil. Keep the burgers in the pan and do not drain the pan. When the burgers are almost done, then throw in a largely chopped onion, let them get soft and full of the juices of the cooked burgers. Then put some water and beef broth in the pan then add a can of hominy. Let simmer for a bit, season to taste, then grab a soup bowl and dig in.
You want to talk about a warm/ good/ hardy and tasty breakfast, that will stick to your belly for hours, that's it. Wash it down with a hot cup of coffee, he used to call that a cowboy breakfast!
