There was a power outage and it affected the church, but being on Main Street it didn't affect us so Sandy brought her Sunday school class to the house -- a total of about 11 13-year-olds sitting in the living, which is all still fully decorated.

I wasn't expecting them and having broken my toe in the dark of night I was still in my PJs when they came over.

They ooohed and awwed the lights but then someone asked, "What will be your new colors?"

Since we moved into this home we have lit our porch with lights, just changing the colors of the lights with the seasons.

Summer is always white, because that's when we spend so much time on the porch. We love summer evenings out there.

Post Halloween is always red and green -- very festive lights that we love when they reflect inside the house. Something about them seems perfect with the snow, too.

The rest of the year is kind of unplanned...they are usually the color of whatever I can find where 60 bulbs can be found, usually online.

But I think what surprised me was that we had no idea the house had become a landmark because of those simple lights.

One reason we kept them up was because they made it easier to find the house in the dark. But over time, I'm learning, others depend on them too...why, I'm not sure.
That is so cool ! Love the idea, Now if only I had a porch LOL

They're still playing Holiday music on Music Choice Sounds of the Season. At least on the west coast they still are. Not sure how long it is going to last, but I know it is scheduled to change at some point today. Does anyone know what time it typically happens? Midnight? 9pm? I'd like to see it, I've never actually seen it transition from a Christmas song to that dreaded Pulse music. I've had it on before around this time in January when it was still Christmas music, then left and came back a few hours later and saw it had already transitioned. But never from one song to the next. That ought to be cool to see. And it's not that I hate Pulse music, it could be anything really, it's just that it's the one that replaces Christmas music. And further, Sounds of the Season Holiday is often times literally the very last thing to go in terms of anything left still happening from the season.

Today we went out and did some post Christmas decorations shopping. We totally scored big time, we were finding sales of 75-80% off of ornaments for the tree, decorations for the house, the wife found a bunch of ribbon that I must say was really nice looking. We were having a good time. We also picked up a bunch of things from yankee candle that were 75% off.

Well, back to the working world tomorrow, it will be the first week that I will work a full week in three weeks; lol... so you know darn well this week is going to just drag on and on and on!!!!
Wow, nice finds !

Morning MMC! The chill is easing this week. I never knew that 15 degrees could feel mild but it does right now and we should see a high close to 30 degrees. That's going to feel balmy. We have gone 2 straight weeks (14 days) without getting above 32 degrees/freezing. It's one of the longest stretches we've had in many years. Tuesday that should end finally. Hope you all enjoy your 1st day of the week. This cold/snow kept the lights up for another week for many!
LOL it’s the same here Friday it was -24 today it’s only -3 downright balmy

Good Monday morning! A day off for me, but I have to go grocery shopping and do some housecleaning. The fun never ends. I do however plan to catch the US figure skating championships on DVR later today, so there will be some relaxing at some point. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good Morning, Friends.

Hard though it may be to believe, we have already arrived at SINGLE DIGITS to our first Milestone maker of 2018.
Stay tuned for the details below.

To begin though, we present the first count numbers of the new week:
Days to the Season: 309
Days to Christmas Day: 351

Yep. One glance confirms it.
We are indeed just 9 days away from the 300-day Season Window and the beginning of a 200's level Season count sequence.
(Wow. That first digit is about ready to turn over already!)

We had one final nasty day yesterday, with the temps remaining well below freezing after an overnight low of 9.
Today is supposed to see us into the 40's for highs, with 50's arriving for tomorrow and the 60's by Thursday.
(What a nice change that will make!)
For now, though, we have again started out cold at 20 degrees, here.

Have a Marvelous Monday, Folks!
(Now that the Panthers are out of the playoffs, I'll have to pick another NFL team to pull for. Any suggestions?)

Happy Monday! I hope everyone is thawing out a bit. We're supposed to get a couple degrees above freezing today.

I'm starting the day with an unscheduled trip to the dentist. From past experience, I can tell that a tooth that was recently crowned is a candidate for a root canal. It's very sensitive to hot, cold, and touch, and I can feel pressure building up. I hope it can be treated before the next phase starts, which is steadily increasing pain.

Merry Monday!
So happy that we are moving into warmer temps, that artic cold is terrible.
Not too much going on today, I need to go to the grocery store later for a few things.
Hope you all have a great day!

The freezing rain started this morning just as I was heading to work. I made it just fine, but now I hear reports that there are wrecks all over the county. School still hasn't started back after the winter break. It's supposed to be in the 60's on Thursday, so that's something to look forward too!

I'm not sure how others feel, but seeing lights on a house is very heart-warming. There is something dependable about seeing them every night. Even if you had never met the people who live in the house, it is almost as if you knew them. Should the lights not be lit for a night or two, you would worry that something was wrong. Besides, there is just something merry about them! :)

Praying your toe heals quick!

Merry Monday!

We were under a winter weather advisory last night. This morning I woke up and saw several inches of snow had fallen. Swept a few paths so I could take care of the animals, but other than that I'm not doing any shoveling. It is supposed to be warming up and I'm sure there will be a drastic reduction in the amount of snow out there over the next few days. The temperature could even get into the fifties by Thursday. Then the bottom drops out again, but the forecast isn't calling for such frigid temperatures as the past week.

Be safe and merry!

We have all our outside taken down and away and if ya'll have seen my video you know it was extensive had it away by Jan. 6th. still working on my inside but also working on things for Xmas 2018 already, removed incandescent lights from our horse and carriage, Dh repainted them both and he will re-string them with LED's. He also removed and re-strung our tallest spiral tree, so Xmas prep continues for us all through out the year. Also received a few new items, (xmas décor) I ordered for Xmas 2018. In essence we keep the Xmas spirit going all year long even during our Fl. hot summers. LOL Happy New Year 2018
