Nice to see you Brent!! Hope we get to see more of you when school is out! Have a good day!

Thanks, Holiday. I hope so, too. As crazy as it seems, I think I will have much more time with having to teach one class in three weeks during summer school rather than three classes I am teaching until the end of the year. English is just that much easier for me than Math.

My wife is a 6th grade teacher also Brent, she was just saying last night to me that the kids are starting to get a little nuts with the Spring weather and the looming end of the year coming soon. It's getting more and more difficult to keep them focused and to keep them reigned in. She's been coming home wiped, almost every day with the constant testing, inputting of grades, kids not behaving and being disrespectful and such.

Good to know that it's everywhere, xmastidings. As of Sunday, we will have exactly one month remaining until the last day of school (before exams). To say that I cannot wait for that day to come is an understatement.

Special message to Minta.
Looks like I will be unable to go to the cottage now after all. We have a major plumbing leak to deal with here in Raleigh.
Thanks for volunteering, though!

Happy Hump and Pines Day!! We had a terrible storm last night and lost power until 1am so not too terrible. A tree fell on a power line at the end of my road. And then last night after my husband got the generator going water started pouring out of water tank, the plumber came this morning and we need a whole new tank...ugh always something! Just work for me today...hope you all have a great day!

Sorry to read about the leaks. Finger crossed you get them sorted soon. So disruptive.

Anyone want our rain? Last nights storms kinda fizzled out by the time they reached us .. We got hours of rain, thunder and lighting but it was not as severe as they were calling for the wind was next to nothing which was good. We have had a lot of rain in the last week and they are calling for more rain everyday through Sunday. We haven't been able to cut our grass in the last week .. so by the time the rain clears out and the grass dries out enough for us to cut it the grass will be at my knees
I will take some rain AFTER I get my flowers planted & my tomato & pepper plants in! AND not on the weekend! ;)
Hope you dry out soon!
Have a good day Minta!

It was our water pressure tank...and he had to replace all the piping and valves. I hated writing out that check...lol but I think we will need to pull up our carpet where it got all wet.
Always something but what are you going to do?? I think I may watch a Christmas show today to help with my mood!

Sorry to hear this, Crown. We are dealing with a leak issue too and need to pull up the carpeting as well.

The storms we terrible!! I could not believe how dark it was...Leo hid under my bed the whole time and my boxer Andre sat on my lap. They are never fearful of storms either! Have you seen all the pics of the damage? Crazy!

We had to replace our water pump several years ago. No fun!!!
Poor Andre & Leo!! Give them a hug from me!!! Sounds like a lot of you had nasty storms.

Hope your summer classes go well!! Come visit when you can!! :)

That really stinks Crown. I'm sorry to hear about the water damage. You are so right, mold...., is a very bad thing! And besides that, it's like the wood, drywall, carpeting, padding and materials like that, just seem to soak up the water like a sponge. If you don't get it up/ dried out; you got mold. And if that does not happen, there's the warping of the wood, which screws up your floors, etc...

I feeling for you Crown. I hope that insurance can cover it all 100% for you.
You've reviewed it well, xmastidings.
The heat/blower fans are humming along as we speak, drying out the wood. Afterwards, they will spray for mold abatement.
This was a second floor toilet drain seal leak so the issue is the kitchen ceiling which is under the bathroom in question. That section of sheetrock has been removed so the blowers can do their thing. No carpeting involved, though. We have hardwood floors.
It should be an entertaining next few days. Interesting to watch them work and see hidden areas of the house we have not seen in the 49 years we have lived here!

Good Wednesday morning, Christmas friends!

My goodness, if this pollen doesn't ease up soon, I'm going to go crazy. And not in the fun way like Prince was singing about. I was up at 3 am sneezing and sniffing, and it's still going. Grrr.

I was mowing the lawn yesterday, but it was pouring rain while I did it, so I thought I'd be safe from the allergens. Alas, no such luck.

The yard looks good, though! The grass is green and the pool is not, so maybe it's worth it.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D
Is there any medicine you can take to help with the symptoms? I sometimes have random allergic reactions (no clue why) and for years I fought taking medicine but now I reach for the Reactine right away, I have no patience anymore. Hope you can get it under control and get to sleep.

Very sorry about the leak Crown. You seem to be taking it in stride though. Really nothing more you can do than wait for the work to be done. It is fascinating though seeing what’s behind those walls and ceilings. Our bathroom pipes leaked downstairs some time ago and the landlord had to open a wall in a closet adjacent to the bathroom and I couldn’t help but take a look. Hope your situation gets resolved quickly.

SnowflakeMom I hope the leak did not ruin more than the carpeting. It’s an extra expense to replace, not a fun situation, but at least they could come and replace the tank and plumbing quickly. And poor Leo and Andre during that storm. They say to unfortunately expect more extreme weather like that due to climate change. Hope you’ve had a quieter evening after this.

Morning MMC. Into the 2nd half of May and another rainy morning here. We have probably had one of the cloudiest 1st half of the years that I can remember. Just seems like we haven't seen much sun since the 1st half of winter. Just planning stuff for the weekend now. Hope you're having a better day today Crown. Hope you all have a good one as well.

Everything is proceeding smoothly and the workers seem very competent. The blowers are humming along for the second day.
(Actually, the white noise is rather soothing!)

Good Morning, Everyone.
Rise, shine and read the count numbers while sipping some tea and enjoying that extra fired twinkie you brought home from the 'Pines yesterday evening.

Days to the Season: 180
Days to Christmas Day: 222

Now that you are well fortified with tea and twinkie, perhaps you can handle this:
The 200-Day Christmas Day window will be here three weeks from tomorrow.
That's right.
In 3 WEEKS, both of our counts will start with the number "1".
(And you know how fast things start to move after that.)

Well, yesterday was dominated by the sound of air blowers trying to dry out wet wood from our upstairs bathroom drain line leak. They will continue to blow all day today and most of tomorrow before the anti-mold chemicals can be used.
Then the bathroom floor and kitchen ceiling below can be rebuilt.
And the weather is not cooperating by bringing lots of rain which hopefully won't hinder the drying process.
It is overcast as I type this and our opening temperature is 69 degrees.

Have a Thrilling Thursday, Folks.
(And a word of advise. If you notice a water leak inside, don't delay in having repairs done!)
