Christmas Countdown - 2018

Good morning folks. Well, all the schools in the area are either closed or on an early dismissal. There is a big wintery storm moving in. We were almost 60 degrees yesterday, but now the temperature is dropping. It is raining now, but by about 10:00am we will be below freezing and will have ice/ freezing rain. Then in the afternoon it will turn to snow. So... another 4 day weekend since Monday is Martin Luther King Day.

So, time to relax... and get some grading done.

We’re expecting lots of rain today, heavy at times. Praying it’s not too bad, my husband and I will be heading in to the city later this evening with my in-laws. We’re going to see Hello Dolly on Broadway, starring Bette Midler. This is the last weekend she will be performing in the show. We’ll also be going out for dinner as well. Should be a nice night.

It's a great idea ... however, I'm not crazy about changing it for each holiday --- I'm thinking of something that won't take too much time and effort. That's why I was thinking of just quickly draping a string of white lights on it for a few weeks.

Can we see your Valentine's Day tree?

Its not up yet. Still Christmas here..lol. I throw on some clear lights also on the changeover. I did find some felt Valentines envelopes last year and bought white and red roses that have the clips on the back of them. Kinda have to just keep a watch for appropriate items to use.

The 300-Day Season Window. It's nearly here, already. Just FIVE days off, now.
(Yep. We are definitely moving right along!)


Outstanding weather yesterday, despite a sprinkle or two. The high reached 64 degrees and it was nice and calm. Lots of birds on our backyard bird feeder (at least until the squirrels came).
Today? Well the weather service says 72!
It will come with rain, but who cares. After the 201 consecutive hours below freezing we had recently, I'll take a downpour!
We stand just over 65 damp and humid degrees here at this hour in the capital city and it looks like it could start raining at any moment.

Morning all!! More nasty weather..rain all night and every bit of snow is gone now. Creeks are full and alot of flooding going on. On a bright note severe winter storm warning for tomorrow..freezing rain,sleet and now 10-12 inches of snow is forecast. And here we sit with windows open and me grumbling its to hot inside the house.

Good morning MMC! Merry Friday!!! And a rainy/freezing rain/sleety/windy morning at that!! All the schools are closed. It's going to be an interesting weather day!! But all the same, I'm SO HAPPY it's FRIDAY!!! Looking forward to another "Chill" weekend!!

Lucy & I are going to stay with Mom after work today. Her papa will pick her up when he gets off work. Not sure how long I'll be there - weather pending if relief can come tomorrow! (I do hope they can!)

Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend?

It's pouring rain right now. The freezing rain is supposed to start late tonight & turn into snow overnight. I went to the grocery store last night so I'm ready. We have a propane camping stove to cook on & coolers for the cold stuff, so we should be prepared should the power go out.

Morning MMC and Happy FRIDAY! Forgot how long a 5 day week is haha. Anyone off Monday for MLK Day? I'm not but it's all good. I'm ready to enjoy my weekend. We got my mom the LAST tree they had at 70% off that was 6.5 feet. The others were too big 7.5 and a few were too small. Even then she was indecisive if she really wanted it but she came up with a solution and that was to put the old tree still up and put the new one up in a different room that she has more space in now that my other brother is moving. Pretty great decision huh? 2 trees is better than 1! Have a great Friday! I'm getting some pizzzzzza tonight.

That is great your Mom will have 2 trees and great deal!
I am off on Monday...our company closes. No real plans but it will be nice to relax. Enjoy your weekend!

Good Friday morning! It's a balmy 9°C/48°F and raining right now but temperatures will be plunging and a snowstorm is coming later tonight into tomorrow. A day off for me and much needed, as I woke up around 2:45am and started coughing, to the point where I woke up my husband and he couldn't get back to sleep. As long as I'm not moving too much, the coughing is somewhat under control. Unfortunately we only have cough syrup in the house and I refuse to take syrup (I have this weird hang-up), so David will get me some Dayquill/Nyquill pills after work. Hope I'll be ok to work tomorrow. Have a great day everyone!

The women that work in the HR office took off the Christmas ornaments and lights off the small tree and put heart lights on it for Valentine's Day.

Nice idea!
I love seeing lights up until the evenings brighten up a little bit, about the time the clocks "spring forward."

Late night unintentionally for me, I was downloading some new Christmas music for next year, and saving some of it on my "offseason" music micro-SD card for my phone. I still have my full Christmas Micro-SD going strong now, probably change it next week.
I need to get some sleep.

I'm the same way ... when I start messing with my various music libraries, I lose track of time. Organizing it on micro-SD cards as you're doing is a brilliant idea! I have mine in separate iTunes libraries, but then I can only have one library synced at a time.

Icy weather ... ugh. We're getting the rain today and tomorrow, then the temps drop tomorrow afternoon so everything will freeze. Happily, we're both off Monday for MLK Day.

A valentine tree full of roses! That sounds gorgeous. And the flowery decor would work well into the spring. Just add different flowers!

Crabtree is now almost completely undecorated, with one noteworthy exception: Santa's village is still fully intact!

Crabtree's main indoor tree is now dismantled and gone, but you will note "A Christmas To Remember" is still open. They told me they will be there for the rest of this week. Items there are marked 70% off!

Unfortunately with the new medication I am on I can have very little caffeine, so waking up is a little tougher for me now.

Love the 2 tree idea!! Enjoy your pizza. I picked up a Digiorno pizza last night for Mom & I for supper tonight. I figured with the weather being icky it will be a quick & easy supper! I don't think I've ever had that brand before. I've been seeing their commercials constantly on tv "It's not deliver, it's Digiorno's?" LOL I hope it's good! If I decide to make something for supper, we'll have pizza for lunch tomorrow!
