Christmas Countdown - 2018

Good Saturday morning! It will be a beautiful, sunny weekend but without the high humidity. Temperatures were even at the freezing point in some areas in the province this morning. This will be my last day at my current store. I expect a lot of tears, I’m an emotional person and cry at everything. Hope everyone will enjoy a great day!

Good Morning, Weekend Warriors!

Warriors for Christmas, we are. Fighting the battle daily to keep our season of choice alive until November, when the public at large finally wakes up and smells the eggnog!

With that said, we turn to the daily count numbers:
Days to the Season: 164
Days to Christmas Day: 206

And with the numbers presented, we turn our attention to 2018 Milestone marker number nine, the 200-Day Christmas Day Window.
It's UNDER a week away, now. Just 6 short days from this date.
Then, we're in double-100's territory.
(Wow, Guys!)

With all the recent rain, the humidity is just about at record levels. Even with the temperature in the 70's you break a sweat with just a short walk outside. At least we have gone a couple of days in a row now with no additional precipitation.
We are at a sunny 77 degrees right now, but have a pretty good chance of seeing a return of the wet stuff at some point later today.

Good Morning .. well we finally broke down and turned on the central air yesterday. Although it was only in the mid 80s the humidity was way up there. Expecting thunderstorms later today and a big drop in temps and humidity tonight. We picked a big flat of strawberries yesterday so I am going use about half today and make/can strawberry jam.

Happy Saturday everyone! Not too much planned today, other than staying inside in the air. Making a lemon/garlic/rosemary roasted chicken and potatoes and carrots for dinner, that is about it! I do need to run to Hobby Lobby but after finding out there is now some Christmas stuff out it probably isn't the best idea for me as I am weak and can't pass up browsing (ok purchasing!) anytime I see Christmas stuff! I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!

Good morning. I’m just so happy that it’s the weekend, I slept in till 10, been relaxing and drinking coffee since then.

We have a 50% chance of storms today, and the humidity levels are really up there. We’ve got both AC units running go knock the humidity levels down to a more comfortable range.

We got to stay put today for a few hours while the landlord has some showings on the apartment here. Then we’re going to do some running and more packing later. Hope everyone had a nice day.

I do need to run to Hobby Lobby but after finding out there is now some Christmas stuff out it probably isn't the best idea for me as I am weak and can't pass up browsing (ok purchasing!) anytime I see Christmas stuff! I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!

Mmmmmmmm, strawberry jam, that sounds really yummy. I haven’t had any homemade preserves since I was a kid and my grandmother would make them all the time. They sure do beat the store bought stuff.

What!!!! Temperatures were at the freezing point? I have to ask, What area of the world are you at? Because so many of us are getting pounded with heat and humidity combination; which just sucks the life from right out of you.

And today is my Daddy’s birthday, we’ll be getting together later tonight to celebrate!

We are thinking outside the box just a bit, we bought some mosquito traps for our property at our new home. QVC, has got these great prices for the Dyna Trap indoor/ outdoor mosquito/ insect trap.

We got a 1 acre trap for the backyard and a 1/2 trap for the front yard. You guys ought to see how QVC is showing these things and just how well they work. They attract and gather mosquitos, wasp, stink bugs flies, gnats, moths. Im looking forward to sitting outside and not get eaten up alive.

Every summer I made homemade strawberry jam, peach jam and sometimes cherry berry jam among other things

Despite the heat, I still like to bake. The house smells nice and the heat of the oven doesn't really add to the already warm temps. I've made some chocolate bourbon cookies, some rhubarb squares, squashberry cake, and some poppy sesame bread. Some may even last the rest of the week.

Ah, the agony of installing the window a/c’s for the summer, followed by the pleasure of a cool shower and cool rooms to relax in ... that annual ritual was today. We should sleep comfortably tonight.
