SPECIAL POST DAY 5

I'm often asked why I collect Santas. I usually just say it's a tradition. My mom collected them when I was young. Her birthday is 3 days before christmas and it was my tradition to buy her a new one every year as a gift. She loved the ones that sing, dance, and otherwise do some kind of crazy thing. Me and my sistersloved to play with them and It was something we looked forward to all year long. So it just kinda became a thing. Then when we grew up and she started having health problems and was forced to sell the house, the Santa collection was one of the few things that we saved. I then took over the collection and have morphed it into what it is today.

As I've grown older, there's more to it than just tradition though. It has become about what Santa represents. It's about the ability to unselfishly give, asking for nothing in return but the feeling of joy when you see the pleasure that it brings. It's about seeing the look in anothers eyes when they are truly grateful, or the look of shock when they recieve something completely unexpected. It's about knowing that you have truly touched someone and made their life a little bit brighter than it was
before.

Santa also represents the belief that anything is possible. That miracles can happen. The hope that magic is real. And serves as a reminder that just because we can’t see something, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

In a world that seems to be full of hate, Santa represents a guiding light for all of us to follow. A shining example of compassion and generosity. A reminder that it is possible for one person to bring the world together and change it for the better.

So when I look at my Santa collection what do I see? I see a goal. A way of life that few choose to live. A path to being a better person. To finding the true Christmas spirit.

So as we approach this Christmas Season, let your inner Santa shine, help make someone’s day a little brighter and put a little bit of Joy back into this crazy world.

Nicely said, Made!! I’m a huge Santa guy too. And like you, my thoughts of Santa have morphed over the years, very similar to your thoughts. I love looking at all the Santa’s, but I have so many now and less room than before so it really has to jump out at me for me to purchase it. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate and enjoy looking at all the other one around.

Thanks for a beautiful post and a wonderful way to start the Special Posts!

Hark! Hark! What news?

So, Mrs. Bear and I watched TNBC synchronised (we live in different lands) on Halloween, which should, as you'll recall, herald the coming of myriad British Christmas 80s classics and other such yuletide frivolity. However! Somehow, i've not been able to take the plunge yet.. somehow, Scrooge still has me in hiz frightful grasp.

Having said that, i've just had "Gaudete" by Steeleye Span on, which also did feel a bit early... Perhaps the problem is the weather - currently 11 deg(C), sunny, and the leaves have barely just turned to a deep apricot, nary a carpet of leaves to be seen, the trees eagerly awaiting their deciduous purge.

We can (apparently) expect the first dusting of snow in about a week.

Great post Made. Definitely agree 100%!

Happy Special Posts Day MMC! How are we here again? But we are and it's fun to read these posts every year (and I wrote 1 or 2 before myself). Always a great time of year. Two weeks till Thanksgiving. It's all coming and there's nothing we can do to stop so we better enjoy it. Have a great day!

Here's one way you could use the afghans that have incomplete color sequences: donate them to an animal shelter charity. The dogs and cats won't worry about whether the sequence is unfinished. Here's an example of one where you can mail in the blankets. Just Google "donate crocheted blankets animal shelter."
I think that is such a wonderful thing to give to animal shelters.

This one plus Santa holding a plate of cookies piled up to like a tree.
This is such a whimsical ornament, I love it!

Good Thursday morning! Up at 5am on a day off. I don’t even get up that early when I work. It’ll be a usual day of laundry, chores and grocery shopping. I’ll be getting our Winter coats and boots out to see if they’re still in good condition, just in time for a predicted big dip in temperatures next week. Have a great day everyone!

Happy Thursday morning! I work night shift today so I will be able to take Carolina to school and my mom will pick her up. Before taking her to school it will be catching up on laundry day. It shouldn't be too had since I did a small load yesterday. Mike has mandatory overtime all weekend and will have to work his normal 3 to 11 shift on Saturday and Sunday so I am not sure what the weekend will bring.
Does anyone have suggestions for little kids Thanksgiving movies? My moms classes usually borrow our movies for holidays but i dont have any Thanksgiving ones. My dad suggested Planes Trains and Automobiles but I dont think that would go over well in a age 3 to 5 year old class

Good Morning, Special, Privileged People.

And we are particuarly privileged this week to be present during our annual Special Post Series, wherein volunteer MMC members share their posts on five successive days.

Here is the schedule:

Tomorrow (Day 4 before the Season) = Binger
Nov. 10 (Day 3 before the Season) = SnowflakeMom
Nov. 11 (Day 2 before the Season) = Ballcoach
Nov. 12 (Day 1 before the Season) = Minta

Don't touch that dial!

Now for today's numbers:
Days to the Season: 5 (Wow!!)
Days to Thanksgiving: 14 (TWO WEEKS from TODAY!)
Days to Christmas Day: 47 (Getting close to 6 1/2 weeks!)
(Time is slipping away from us as another wonderful Christmas Season looms!)

It remained warm yesterday but that's over for a while as today will see a noticeable cooling, with highs in the 50's and a 40 percent chance of rain.
Tonight will see an even better chance of precipitation and we will drop into the 40's.
Right now, we have started off this day before Weekend Eve at 56 degrees, here.

Have a Thrilling Thursday, Folks.
And with the Special Post Series now under way, I'm sure it will be!

Real nice opening post to begin the Series, Made.
And for the record, I feel the same way about Santa and will be waiting with camera in hand for his arrival at the mall!

Good Morning, MMC!!!! We are off to a chilly start here in Central Indy. There's even a chance of snow showers this evening and accumulating snow tomorrow morning. Wasn't it just like 90 degree's out? I was supposed to take my car in to the shop this morning. The passenger side rear window stopped working when I went to Michigan. As soon as I made the appointment though, it started working again and try as I might, I couldn't get it to act up again. So I decided to cancel it since I still have another 6 months on the warranty. I did run to the grocery this morning to get my turkey for Thanksgiving. Meijer has them for 37 cents a pound as part of their 3 day sale and I wanted to get one while the picking was good. I hope everyone has a great day!!!!!!!!

Great deal on the turkey!! Have a great Thursday!

Merry evening! I slept well today. So great, hopefully I sleep tonight! I’m off until Friday again and looking forward to it. With the decorations up and all the Christmas movies and specials playing, I love to be off this time of the year.

I’m just currently sitting with the kids, eating pizza, and watching Hallmark. DH is working tonight. I hope you’re all having a great evening! I’ll bring the leftover pizza to the Pines!
Have a great time off!!
