Christmas Countdown - 2018

The first Christmas we had our dog, Ragmop; the family who gave her to us gave us a Gingerbread House on Christmas Eve and my family gave them one from the Pastry Monk. We broke into on New Year's Day. We continued this tradition for several years.

This year, I am giving a Gingerbread House kit to the family next door to my parents. They were the only ones allowed in on Christmas Eve to visit with mom in her bed that had been moved to the dining room. The relationships they had was good for them and my parents; their children were like grandchildren. The woman of the house was the second person in the neighbourhood to learn of my mom's passing on the 27th as she rushed over to one of the triplex units when she saw the ambulance, fire truck and police pull up.

It was hard to watch the beauty of the moment they shared with my mom and so very good for her to feel love like that; I'll never forget that moment. They had just come from the 7:00 p.m. Mass that lasted two hours. There was a heavenly presence; it seemed like a scene from a Hallmark movie.

Gingerbread always bring memories forward. Thanks for reminding me.

Boy oh boy, I have to start the day here today. Why, because it’s been in the forefront of my life for the past 12 hours! WHY?

I’m telling you, at times, a honest fella just can’t win for losing.

I gotta a MMC Christmas card in the mail, which I didn’t get out of the mailbox till Sunday. I opened it and it was from a member here, that was signed “Merry Christmas, love, xxxxx”.

Well, I didn’t think anything of it. That is, until my wife saw it and she blew a head gasket. She saw that the card was signed by a single woman. Man, I’ve been hearing it off and on since yesterday, and again first thing this morning.

Of course, I knew my wife loved me, I knew that, but I didn’t know she was very jealous of me, when it came to other women, until that card came.

I have been interrogated multiple times now, she went on MMC to check out the site, and I had to get rid of the card. Plus, if I receive any more Christmas cards from any more single women, they must be destroyed. Receiving them from married women with return labels Mr and Mrs blah, blah, blah is ok and, as well as several super close friends here, is allowed also.

But wow, I didn’t know wheather to be proud, insulted or what... all I know is that I’m not allowed to send one back to that person or any other single females here. Truthfully, I don’t know of any single females here. She believes that a married man should not be receiving Christmas cards from any single woman, signed “Love .....”! It’s not proper to do so.

Oh man, talk about something completely out of your control, that without watching where I was going, I stepped on a yellow jackets nest!!!

Boy, she must really love me.

So Jeff, Brad and Mark, please don’t sign your Christmas card to me with “Love”!

Nice to see you are treating it with a touch of humour at the end.
My husband grew jealous when RJD phoned me once, but when I told him what I was doing for him and Cindy this year he commented on how long our friendship has lasted without us ever meeting in person.
Jealousy usually has to do with the person's insecurity in the relationship. I can sign a card to men or woman with "love, luck and laughter" without raising any eyebrows these days; nothing has changed, but my husband realizes I'm loyal to our marriage vows. It's sad that she doesn't understand that when we say, "love" we don't mean it the same way couples do, we mean as merry members of the same family of Christmas nuts.

I hope she'll come around soon and trust your relationship is strong and that heartfelt greetings from friends shouldn't be tossed in the trash. I'm sure she loves you; she just has to realize that "LOVE" has different meanings; we're friends here.

I really think this is related to the issue of getting texts from your ex during your ex-MIL's illness ... ANY other single women are a sore point with her just now. She's feeling vulnerable because it looks to her like "other women" are popping out of the woodwork. She wants to make sure she's really your Number One. Reassure her and, if it's at all possible, have a date evening and lavish attention on her.

(And yeah, I wouldn't sign "love" to a card to a stranger!)

Good morning MMC!! Merry Tuesday!! Same ol, same ol here - old job this morning, new job later. It's so dreary again outside. Looks like it should be snowing - wish it would!

I saw this book at the grocery store last night & I just had to buy it. It's super cute! (Yep, I'm a big kid at heart! ) Made me smile!

Thanks Holiday. So far she has shown up on the kitchen table, holding Baby Jesus and in the napkin holder

Maybe she needs to have a "snowball fight" (marshmallows) with Santa!! Our friends did that, but they had a really ornery elf!! They had the elf & a Santa on their island with marshmallows all over their island & the floor. HA!

Good Tuesday morning! The weather forecast is annoying to say the least. It's currently -12°C/10°F with the windchill factor and it will remain cold tomorrow, then Wednesday it should be above freezing, then back to cold for a few days, then above freezing again until December 18th. I know you can't trust long-range forecast, but above/near freezing temps at this time of year = more chance of freezing rain and I find that annoying.

I have the day off and for now I'm just relaxing, trying to fully wake up. Other than the usual errands and chores, I have to do more baking and shop for gifts, because I'm really late on both fronts. I'll also get in my "one Christmas movie/special per day". Last night I was exhausted after supper so we kept it short by watching Shrek the Halls.

Morning MMC! Monday was hectic but expected at work. Now on to Tuesday which will be busy also. Right up till our Christmas party at work next Thursday we're pretty much nonstop busy. Other than that, trying to enjoy a few Christmas shows each evening to relax to. The joys of coming home from work during the month of December. Have a great Tuesday!

We do love it! Any time it storms or there is fireworks, we try to be home with her, but can't always be, so it works great for her. I'm sure I'll have to purchase one for Sidney to eventually. All of my dogs have been scared.

We have a thunder shirt from Gracie. So far (knocking on wood) Lucy is fearless. Ha ha!!

Merry Tuesday!
It’s going to be sunny today with a high of 40 degrees. Just a typical day of errands and chores. My youngest is coming over to visit as well, we’re going to grab Chipotle for lunch and do some online shopping. I’m hoping she can help me pick out some Christmas gifts for a couple of people. I guess that’s about it. Hope everyone has a nice day!!!

Good morning, MMC! I slept better today - got up a little after 5 am. I'm hoping to get a nap in at some point - I work tonight at 7. I've been talking with one of my best friends, who is also the nurse practitioner I see - I've been having a lot of issues with my sleep and various other medical issues, which could be sleep deprivation related. She thinks I could have shift work sleep disorder. I've never heard to it before until I did some research, but this could be very well what is going on. I'm to have some blood work done to help diagnosis. I'm praying once I eventually go daylight, that will help.

Not much planned for today. We have our niece again and DH is off, so we plan on trying to get some wrapping done. I want to start baking later this week, so I've gotta get some wrapping done too. We got our Christmas pictures done on Saturday, so I soon as I have them back, I can order Christmas cards and get them sent out.

I hope you all have a great Tuesday! I'm thinking of all you, especially SFM, Holiday, and Xmastidings. Praying that you get good results today, SFM.

I hope you can get it figured out & get some sleep soon. That would be so hard for me to sleep when everyone else is out & about. xx
