Special Post of the countdown to the Christmas Season

As the days of the calendar fall away, we approach that most wonderful time of the year. Aisles once filled with Halloween candy, pumpkins and costumes have given way to Christmas Candy, trees and bows. Thoughts of carving pumpkins and trick or treating are now thoughts of carving a turkey and decorating a Christmas tree.

While some are excited for what is yet to come some cannot help but to remember of what used to be. New place at the table or a new ornament yet to be hung signals for a new memory yet to be made . While a recipe handed down or an old ornament with a special place on the tree remind us of loved ones on longer here while their memories fill our hearts.

The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer. Children are making their Christmas wish list in a letter Santa. Christmas Cards are being signed sealed and stamped with love and care. Lights abound from house to house, inside and out let the world know that the Christmas Cheer is here. Cookies in the oven, gifts under the tree, laughter and love that fill the air are some of the best presents the season can offer.

So as we go to sleep tonight and dream of Christmas another change will occur, the countdown to the season will be no more. When we awake let us welcome the season with open arms and a open heart like we are welcoming a long lost friend.

As others have posted, this brought a smile to my face! Lovely post, Minta! ♥ ♥ ♥

Good Monday morning, Christmas friends!

It's an overcast morning in the 50's, and it's supposed to rain most of the work week. Yucky, but I still love the cooler temps!

We hired a photographer to take Elizabeth's pictures Saturday for her senior year at school. She met us in a nearby town and we walked all over town, taking pictures in different spots that were very pretty. Jacob even met us to take a few pictures with his sister. After the pictures, we went to dinner and a little shopping...as a whole family! Since Jacob moved out and Elizabeth is spending more time with her friends, it's been forever since we did anything like that together. I really loved it!

I'm supposed to meet with an insurance adjuster this week about roof damage on our house from Hurricane Michael.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Merry Monday, Bradmac! I'm so glad you were able to have a family day together!!

I too am praying she finds a happy home - before Thanksgiving!! She's so cute, but Gah... my girl Lucy I think likes being the only girl for now!! ♥ We'll see what happens. But as of now, Kassi still hasn't been adopted. I told my friend over the weekend - if we do end up getting her, we're changing her name to Ethel! :D (Lucy & Ethel) :p :D

Ravelry is so interesting, addicting & very informative! I love looking at all the projects!

Hope you had a great weekend friend!

Merry Monday, Holiday!

Aw, it's hard to believe that such a cute dog is still not adopted. Keeping the her in my prayers!
The name change had me giggling. :)

Thank you, I had a nice weekend. It went by too fast, though!

Have a merry week, Holiday!
xx

Beautiful post!! What a great way to celebrate/remember those who we have lost at such a special time of the year. This hits home as I'm not sure mom will be with us at Christmas - or even Thanksgiving! But if something does happen, I don't want to let it spoil my love of the holidays!! She has lived a good long life & her life isn't easy anymore. :( We need to continue the traditions!

. . .

It's the kinship formed here that feels warm and snuggly; some of us half a world away from each other and still we come here to our Christmas home away from home and feel the richness and worth of the good friends and chosen family we have unwrapped over the years.

I will always remain grateful for the small Christmas pleasures and treasures found right here at our merry forums.

Stay Jolly! -mistletoe-

Merry Monday, Auntie!
Well said!

I used to work a lot of overtime, for many many years. I even did a bunch as I was dating Jill. But, she had laid the ground rules down with me earlier before we got married. So, I try my best now to only work between 40-45 hours a week, no more. But unlike your hubbies, I don’t get paid for it. It’s like, “oh yea, your salary and if you work any overtime, we will compensate you at the end of the year with a bonus!” Yea, right, and I’m a millionaire too!

Lol, can’t blame her there! I can relate - that is why I tell them I don’t want a supervisor job. They are paid salary and I make out better by being paid by the hour and getting occasional overtime.

Merry Monday!

Saved my work for this evening as I am going to try and stay up to countdown to the Season. I hope I make it!

I kind of wish I crate trained Rocky. It’s hard to not cave in when they’re so teeny tiny and start crying. We’re thinking about having a trainer come to the house to help us deal with his behavior. I barely decorated for Fall because he tried to attack everything I took out. I’m sure he’ll do the same with my Christmas decor.

It is so hard! Sidney did really well so far today - only one small accident, but she is gonna be a chewer, that’s for sure! We’ll have to keep her busy!

Beautiful, Minta!

Merry Monday! Our weekend was good, despite having to attend a funeral but it was nice to see family I have not seen in a while. Today I am working a 1/2 day and then I am taking my daughters to the outlets shopping and then we are going out to lunch. Hope you all have a great day!

Hope you’re enjoying your day with the girls!

Good Morning, Folks.
Almost there.
And I REALLY do mean almost there!

Our count info tells the exciting tale:
Days to the Season: 1 (TOMORROW!!)
Days to Thanksgiving: 10 (SINGLE DIGITS from tomorrow!)
Days to Christmas Day: 43 (SIX weeks from tomorrow!)
And Folks, this evening is the one we wait all year for, as we count down together in real time to the beginning of Christmas Season 2018 precisely at 12:00 midnight tonight, eastern standard time.

One final special post today:
Today (Day 1 before the Season) = Minta (proudly posted above)
And our THANKS! to all five of our Special Posters, Made582, Binger, Sugar142286, Ballcoach and Minta for their wonderful, thoughtful and so seasonal messages this year. We have such talented and holiday-dedicated folks here at MMC!

The weather has become "Christmas seasonal" with noticeably cooler highs and rather cold overnight lows.
This last morning before the Season, has commenced here in the capital city at 43 degrees and we will only reach the low 50's for the high with a near 100 percent chance of rain.

But regardless, nothing will dampen our spirits this evening as we complete our Season count in style and with as many of our dear members here as we can gather.
So until we see you then, have a Marvelous Monday, Everybody!

So exciting - thanks Crown! Can’t wait to celebrate with you all!

It was so much fun; wish we had more time on our own, but I had to get my beauty sleep. My dad had been to the previous Salon Party and highly recommended that I attend because the best of the jazz, swing and blues scene in Toronto show up regularly to sing just one song and enjoy listening to others. There's no cost, but a tip jar to cover the rental of the rooftop and the security guard generally gets filled by donation.

I've had my moments; for the most part I remain strong and determined to keep things merry. Thanks for asking.
I do hope to make at least weekly visits as the excitement mounts.
Festive Regards,
Auntie M.

Glad to hear your enjoyed!

I love when you visit - hoping to see you more and glad all is well!
