Good Sunday morning, Christmas friends!

I've been away from here for a few days, so please forgive me if I've missed any big happenings. I was out of town on Friday, and yesterday was spent shopping, and at Nancy's family's home.

As I mentioned on Thursday, we were supposed to get Nancy's mom's test results that afternoon. We didn't get the results we were hoping for, though. Her cancer is back, and is, apparently, untreatable. Mrs. Hilda is a wonderful lady, who took me in as family as soon as Nancy and I started dating. I'd give anything if she didn't have to suffer through this. As always, prayers and positive thoughts for Mrs. Hilda, Nancy and their family are coveted and appreciated.

Tonight, Nancy's boss (who also happens to be her older sister) is taking their office to see Harry Connick, Jr. in concert. I think all of those girls have a bit of crush on ol' Harry. This isn't the first such trip they've made to see him. Hmmm. The kids and I will be at the church Christmas Party tonight. So, I'll be at church, and my wife will be ogling another guy. Double-hmmm.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D
I am so sorry to hear this, Brad about Mrs. Hilda. I will keep you all in my prayers.

I have to tell you all what happened to me within a 6 hour timeframe on this past Friday. I received a phone call at the office from an equipment representative, (on the QT). He told me that another engineering firm was in desperate need of an engineer and that he felt it would be perfect for me.

I said sure, why not, I’ll send them a resume over. Now, I was not actively looking for another place of employment, but I figured nothing ventured, nothing gained!. So, I sent a resume over at 10:30. By 11:30, I got a reply back from them asking if I can come in for an interview at 4:00. Now here I am, unshaven, wearing a Ford motor ball cap, jeans, tee shirt and a flannel shirt, not prepared in the slightest way for a job interview.

I said ok and went over there. It was a very good interview, I sat and talked with the three principals there for about an hour and then left. Get this, within 30 minutes, the president there texted me, and I had a job offer, for more money, more paid time off, full benifits, and more. I was blown away.

I accepted.
Im still trying to get a grasp of what all just exactly happened. I don’t think it has fully sunken in yet and the first thing I did was to thank the Lord for all of it and talk to my wife. She was thrilled for me.

So, now I have to break the news to my employer that I will be leaving. I’ll give them a proper notice, but I know it will be a shock to them.

I was not thinking about what was best for me, but I was thinking about what will be best for my family. I will be working closer to home, shaving about 20 minutes off my commute from the current 60 minutes it takes me now.

Im still stunned.
Wow!! I love stories like this...it was just meant to be. Congrats! That is great you are taking 20 mins off your commute.

Merry Monday! Another chilly day today but it is so nice to see the sun out there. Typical work day for me and I making a spiral ham for dinner with roasted potatoes and green beans. My youngest has basketball practice tonight and I need to catch up on folding some laundry. Hope you all have a great day!

Good Monday morning! We're having to deal with cold temperatures until Friday but at least the sun will be out. Right now I'm cuddled up with Loki on the couch under some blankets. I am feeling quite tired after waking up at 3am the last two nights. I'm really struggling to catch up on my Christmas to-do list. I think the stress is getting to me and hindering my sleep.

On Friday and Saturday at work I had to console two employees who learned of the unexpected deaths of members of their families. One's father in China passed away. He had been hospitalized and they were running tests, she was to go visit him this week, when suddenly her brother called her at work letting her know that he had passed away. She called herself a "daddy's girl" so it was quite a shock to her. And then on Saturday one of my employees who had the day off came to see me and was sobbing uncontrollably. Her 22-year-old nephew, only child of her twin sister, died from heart failure. He was healthy, they have no idea what happened. She was leaving for Iraq last night to help support her sister. It was heartbreaking to see in both cases, especially since their beloved families are so far away.

So hug the ones you love each and every day, there is nothing more important. Have a great day everyone.

Love this!!! ♥ Happy Monday Solice!

KD is Kraft Dinner; one of those things you might have as a child and then continue to enjoy off and on as an adult even if it is not as good as making your own macaroni and cheese.
I didn't know what KD was, either!
I was spoiled, I guess. Mom never made mac 'n' cheese from a box; she always made it from scratch and baked it in the oven. Oh, that golden-brown cheese on top! I've never been able to duplicate her mac 'n' cheese, even though I have her recipe.

Good morning MMC!!! Merry Monday!?!? I am exhausted today! Actually I was exhausted all weekend, after our shopping trip Friday, burying moms ashes Saturday morning, family pictures in front of mom/dads house after, neighborhood house hopping Sat. night, hosting candy day yesterday, then meeting friends/family at the local watering hole last night...now work. I needed to take today off! LOL! All in all it was a great weekend, just tiring! ;)

I hope all is well with all of you & you all had a fun, Christmassy weekend!!!

Have a good Monday!!!

Happy New Week!

Time is flying like a sleigh on ice. Things are getting ticked off the to-do list, but it's not empty yet. Cookie-baking, wrapping, a little shopping, a couple stops to make, a friend coming over. Some stuff didn't get done this year, like outdoor decorations and some of the indoor decorating, because of other Christmas demands this year, but it's all good. Christmas is coming, two beautiful trees are up and glowing in our house, the cards and packages are almost all out, and it's time to start slowing down a tad, when it's possible, to enjoy the season before it rushes off.

I am very sorry to hear that Mrs. Hilda and the family received such sad results. My ex-daughter-in-law was expected to be taken by her third bout with cancer (all three were different types). Number 1 son was ready to sign custody papers to accept her daughter (his boys half-sister) into his home should Dayna succomb to the cancer.
She is still alive and in good health now. I have learned that even when doctors say something is untreatable, miracles happen. Hope and prayers heading your way.

As for Harry ... I was watching an entertainment program and a band was performing and out of the corner of my eye, I caught my husband watching me watching one of the performers. I blushed when he caught me experiencing a little girl crush on the singer. He actually reminded me of an old boyfriend. Now that was awkward, but he knew as I am sure you do - that it is not that bad because she will come back to you with all her heart - celebrity mmms do not last for long. HaHa

Thanks for that, AMD! And you're right; we haven't given up on miracles yet. :)

And I ain't sweatin' Harry. ;)

Good Monday morning, Christmas friends!

First, thanks so much for the prayers and kind words for my mother-in-law!

The kids and I went to the church Christmas party last night, while Nancy was out with her office at a Harry Connick, Jr. concert. The party went great, and Santa visited! Last year he fell in the fountain out front, but this year he knew where it was LOL!

It's still cold and overcast around here, but they got more than a foot of snow at mom's place in the mountains (mom's not there). Wouldn't it just be terrible to be snowed-in in the mountains? ;) Of course, all we have is electric heat, and I hear the power's been out for a while, so it might have actually been terrible.
-shiver-
I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Good Morning, MMC!! Man this whole having to cancel my debit card is a pain!! I went to order something from kohl’s this morning and oh yeah, can’t do that. Stopped at McDonald’s and tried to pay with the app. Yeah, can’t do that either. I’m going have to sit down and make a list of everything that is going have to be switched over. I also found out Katie tested positive for the flu. So that explains why she wasn’t feeling good Friday night. Hopefully that flu shot I got does it’s job. Lol! I hope everyone has a great day!!!

I love homemade mac n cheese but the stovetop kind. I’m not a big fan of that crust you get from baking it. And KD is something that as an adult, I’ve come to accept that the memory of its taste is better than its actual taste. Though they now have
a 3-cheese variety that I do enjoy from time to time.

Enjoy the snow and safe travels to your brother!
Hope you are able to watch the movie...I know you will like it!
Have a good day!
I'm hoping to watch it this week sometime!! xx Hope you had a great weekend!

So, Mrs Bear helped me put up my little tree, of which I still need to decorate fully. She also surprised me with an amazing advent calendar, which has a meaningful little gift in each day(box).

Despite all of this yuletide gaiety, i'm still unable to flex my christmas muscles. Ok, strange year - but somehow feeling almost repelled by christmas! Gasp! a phase i'm sure, lest my MMC card be revoked :)

Work is pretty hectic, so that's probably it - usually by now i'd be playing nethack, listening to 80s chrimbo cheese, and madly looking forward to the xmas flights to the UK.

Anyone else sometimes feel a bit underwhelmed by it? Serious question - not trolling.
This year is a "bit off" for me with mom just passing. I don't even have my decorations up, other than my tree's. What the heck???

we have here a wonderful place called "The House of Blessing" It is a food bank, a place where those in need can get free clothing. They provide counselling, programs for parents and children, and so much more. They also have a Christmas toy drive which was well under way already.
Earlier this week they had a fire

The city and area is really rallying around and helping restock the food suppies and try to replace the lost toys and clothing.
Please pray for these folks who do so much to help others
Sending prayers!!!

Thank you for thea raters for my cousin. He was sent home tonight. All the tests came back inconclusive so the dr thinks it is viral as there are many viral things going around
Prayers for your cousin!!

Good Morning, People of the Season!

And our journey continues through Christmas Season 2018, right on to the big day itself, which is getting mighty close now.
The stat:
Days to Christmas Day: 16
Down now to TWO WEEKS from the DAY AFTER TOMORROW!
(Just starting to dwindle down into a bedpost, Folks.)

Well, sir. The snow began falling overnight last night and there is about 3 inches on the ground right now, with more still coming down.
It could be worse this afternoon with the chance of sleet or freezing rain but fortunately, the temps are supposed to rise into the mid 30's by this afternoon.
We have had a power flicker this morning. So far we are holding on, but our fingers remain crossed. It will likely depend on how much wind we get.
Currently, we stand at 32 degrees, here.

Have a Super Sunday, Everyone (whether or not you are snowed in!)
My niece/hubby just moved to NC. She Facetimed/sent pics of the snow yesterday. Sure looked pretty. I hope you keep your power & stay safe & warm!!! They are probably the reason it is snowing there - the weather seems to follow them wherever they move too. Ha ha!!!
