Christmas Countdown - 2018

Good morning ~
We have frigid temperatures here as well. Thankfully I got my food shopping over with yesterday so I’m in for the day. I plan on taking some decorations down, cleaning and decluttering. We’ll just be catching up on some shows later this evening, should be a relaxing one. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!
 
Good Morning, First Weekenders.

And indeed, this is the first weekend of the new year (and of course, the first weekend of the rest of our count).
But just where does that leave us?

Here:
Days to the Season: 311
Days to Christmas Day: 353

It also leaves us just ELEVEN days away from the first Milestone marker of 2018, the 300-day Season Window.
SINGLE DIGITS from the day after tomorrow.
Then, a 200's level Season count commences.
(See how fast things are already moving toward Christmas Season 2018, Folks?)


Frigid (for NC) weather will be persisting for another two days, and we have commenced it at a bone cold (again, for NC) 14 degrees here in the central part of the state.


But regardless of your weather, you try your best to have a Sensational Saturday, OK?
(And a Wondrous Weekend, too!)

Christmasstar, I am so sorry for the lost of your friend and mentor. Rest assured, she is happy and in a more glorious place; with our Lord.
 
Good morning dear friends. As freezing cold as it is outside, I think it makes a hot cup of coffee, taste even so much more better first thing in the morning. Weather report for New Haven, Connecticut, 10 degrees F, wind chill, -5 degree F. Yup, it's cold. I read the posts above and some people have it even colder with wind chills like -40 degrees F. Wow, I cannot even imagine how cold that feels, but crazy as it seems, I would like to experience it once just to say I did.

Saturday, what to do on a brutally cold day, Hmmmmmm....SHOP Maybe???? I ordered a whole bunch of Christmas Specials (Perry Como, Bing Crosby, John Denver and the Muppets, Little House on the Prairie Christmas specials and The Walton's Christmas Homecoming DVD's during the after Christmas sales on Amazon, I hope they get here soon, today would be a good day to watch them.

Merry Saturday!

As most everyone else has posted, it is cold out! I had to coax Salem out from under the bench on the porch where he was sitting in the shade and on an icy patch. He doesn't like to be touched or held, so it was quite a task to get him out. He finally let me hold him and I carried him over to the big cat house which is stuffed with straw and several more cats, and is currently in the sunshine. He looked so shocked! Last time I checked, he was sitting outside the house on a pile of straw in the sunshine.

The temperature outside is going to warm up starting tonight as the wind chill will be in the single digits instead of below zero. Yay! It could rain on Thursday.

Good evening,
It was rough getting up at 2:50am to be at work for 4, but the day went by fast. I came home and took a nap after I had my lunch. I watched my Bruins beat the Carolina Hurricanes 7 - 1, so a good night leads to a day off tomorrow. It is bitter cold out, supposed to drop to -17f tonight with wind chill at -40f, the wind chill is already at -20f, it was painful just opening the door to let the dog out, he was out for 3 minutes and he came back in trying to warm up his paws. At least we aren't at Mt. Washington the wind chill there today were -89f, I can't imagine that..

I know, isn’t this crazy, I cannot remember temperatures as cold as this around these parts in a very very long time. Here 0 degrees tonight with a -18 wind chill. We accidentally left a pizza on the back seat of the car, I just said leave it out there, (I was already for bed) it’s being deep frozen tonight so it’s perfectly fine.

I threw an extra blanket on the bed tonight, and got it all nice and cozy for the kitties too!!
Tonight is definitely a 5 cover night!!!!

Im telling you, there are going to be people freezing pipes tonight that’s for sure. I remember when I was a boy, my grandfather would always leave the spigot on at the sink a bit, just so the water would be constantly running through the pipes and not freeze at nights.
I remember one time when it did and he was down in the cellar with heaters and a torch, trying to get it thawed.

It’s so hard to believe with all of the insulation that homes are built with now a days, that my grandparents house had no insulation, but it was always warm and toasty in there!!!!
 
Morning MMC! 1 week into the new year! Already huh? It has been such a COLD 2 weeks for many of us. And the temp is 0 here but the wind is slowing down now so it's warming up! Ha...well at least less frigid. Just going to do a few more errands today and take it easy. Watch some football games. I hope you all have a great Sunday! Hard to believe Christmas Eve was 2 weeks ago!
 
Good morning...it is frigid out there for sure. Not up too much today. My daughter has a basketball game and then we will be relaxing and gearing up for the week. At least it will be warming up! Enjoy the day!

Merry Sunday!
It’s going to be sunny and cold today with a high of 19, we’re currently at 4 degrees. Not too much going on here, I’ll just be working on my daily chores and I need to organize some Christmas bins. I would love to make a pot of chicken soup, I’ve been craving it ever since I got sick. I’d need to pick up a couple of things at the supermarket though and I’m not sure I want to go out in this weather. If not, it will be spaghetti & meatballs for dinner. I guess that’s about it for me. Oh there’s a hockey game on this afternoon, hoping the Islanders can break this awful losing streak!
I hope everyone is well and has a great day!!!

And you will note that as of tomorrow, we will be down to SINGLE DIGITS to our first Milestone marker of the 2018 countdown, the three-hundred-day Season Window.
(Moving right along, Folks.)


Still no break from the very chilly temperatures and we did not reach the 30 degree mark all day yesterday.
Today will be more of the same before warmer weather arrives for Monday.
Right now, we have commenced the second half of the weekend at 9 degrees, the coldest reading yet. At least it's sunny and calm.


Have a Super Sunday.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Panthers can survive the Saints and advance in the NFL playoffs!
 
Morning, friends! It is gonna be a cold, dreary day here. Rain is expected to move in after lunch and it is going to stay just above freezing for next 48 hours. Bad news is rain, good news is no freezing! At this point, I will take it.

About to go get ready for church. Y'all have a good day.
