Christmas Countdown - 2018

Good evening everyone! I have spent the day watching playoff football...a great way to spend a Sunday! Some great games on today. We are supposed to get more snow tomorrow. My poor husband just finished clearing all the walkways from Friday's snow! We are having breakfast for dinner tonight...eggs, sausage, hash browns. I just ordered some wintery looking decorations on clearance for the house. Now that all the Christmas stuff is packed away it looks so empty and I just can't bring myself to put up my cheery flowery spring-like everyday decorations. I still want to celebrate winter! I hope everyone has a great week. I have been staying in for fear of getting around anyone with the flu. According to the news the flu is rampant in my area and I have health problems as it is; I definitely don't need the flu!

Hello all,

Another relaxing day. Expecting some light snow to roll into the area tonight and through tomorrow. We should pick up a couple of inches, nothing major. Then back to the really cold temps.

The wife and I are looking to get new carpet in the living room and entry way/hallway. We went to Lowes and looked at their offerings. They are offering a deal of free installation right now. We did not make a decision yet, but brought home some samples to look at. It is crazy how many different options there are. It is a bit overwhelming.

I was happy to see the Steelers lose today. As a Browns fan I really do not like the Steelers. Plus, Big Ben is one of my least favorite players in the NFL. I know too many people who went to school with him at Miami Univ. (Ohio) Outside of the football team he was considered to be a complete jerk. I am hoping the Jaguars can take down the Patriots next week.

Well, our hunch had finally played out. We decided to get a small tree this year because we have a new kitten. Well, can you see our new Christmas ornament? Look near the top! Here's a close-up also, she is soooooo, darn cute, she has this look on her face, "I didn't do anything wrong"!!

Good Morning. Chilly one this morning around these parts. I looked at the weather forecast on my phone first thing this morning and I see they have snow indicated for Tuesday and Wednesday. Hey, It's January, and speaking for myself, I love it when I'm on the inside of the house, watching the snow falling on the outside, while I still have the Christmas tree up. It looks so beautiful all lit up during the snow falling, I just want to make some hot coco and put a Christmas movie in!!!! I think I'm going to keep it up till like February sometime.

I never made the road trip down to Pa/ MD this weekend, my Mrs. was not feeling 100% and I didn't want to put her thru that 5 hour ride, and nor did I want to leave her alone either, so I'll wait and do it another weekend.

You know, this would be a great time of the year for QVC to have an after, after, after, Christmas sale, during the middle Of January. I would be all into that, So instead, I'll guess I'll head over to Amazon and see if they have any good Christmas sales on-line today.

Does anyone know of some other good on-line stores that has some good after Christmas things/ left over stock sales?

Try oldies.com for music and movies. Try whatonearthcatalog.com for random stuff. I have had good luck searching regional department store websites for leftover deals.

Just a lazy day here, didn't even watch TV until AFV came on, not much of a football fan, didn't watch any of the 4 games this weekend, but I did watch one of the best hockey games of the season last night. The Bruins won 4-3 in a shootout.

Well it's a nice crisp 21 degrees here ..... And more snow coming. I shopped today - hitting end of season sales for next year. I'd say about 30 percent of my list is done. Yabba!

Morning MMC! Happy MLK Day! If you're off enjoy it. It's a cold day here and I'm off on my way to work. Looks like we may see a little snow this week but nothing major. And it looks to be a cold week before a January thaw hits. That's the long range forecasts at least and I'm all for that. Plenty of houses still lit and the stores still have 70%+ off on Christmas items. Pretty cool here in Mid-January to see that still going and hanging on. Have a great Monday!

Did you ever have one of those mornings, where, while your sitting here in the early morning, it's quiet, cold outside, the coffee is tasting mighty good and hot, the blanket and couch is feeling mighty good, and you just think to yourself; ummmm, I want to go to Work.... NOT!!!

I'm about as motivated as tree moss to go to work this morning!!!!!

Yup, I used to be a big time football fan, not any more. I gave it up when it started becoming too much of a side show with all the antics, protests, and the politics. If I watch anything now-a-days, it will be a hockey game as well, bull riding or something like that. Something to where the only time they are on their knees is when they are praying.....

I hope everyone who got the snowstorm is safe and warm at home.

We were expecting rain into yesterday afternoon, then a sharp temperature drop that would turn it all to ice. But we got off lucky. The rain stopped earlier than expected, and the wind came up and dried the streets before the hard freeze set in. Today it's sunny and very cold, a real January day.

I took down the front-room Christmas tree and decorations last week; we got the outdoor lights and decorations down yesterday before the hard freeze; and this morning I took the ornaments off our small TV room tree and draped a string of white lights on it. This is the first year I've done that. I'm looking forward to seeing the white lights while it's still cold and dark in the evening when I get home from work.

Well, how do you like the white lights look on the tree? I few years ago, I started getting into having the little "North Woods Trees" (little skinny trees, bout 2-4' tall, with just white lights on them, that I can plug in all year round) and I love the look. And it gives me that Christmas feeling all year round.

Greetings Sugarmuffin. Yes, a great way to spend a Sunday. Unfortunately for me, I was so sleep deprived for this last week that I did the 13 hour thing yesterday and woke up around 8PM (got to bed just after 7AM). Luckily the NFL channel shows replays of the games, so I did get a chance to watch them. Very exciting. I can appreciate what your husband goes through, I had just finally shoveled and scraped the last of our previous winter coating and then here came another light dusting. Oh well, still another 65 days of winter to go.

Morning Iteach. I'll jump on the Jaguars bandwagon with you and I hope they face the Vikings for a Super Bowl 1st... home team playing. I'll be doing the same with reference to carpeting in my basement after things change here come Spring. Since it will be on concrete, I'm thinking a Berber style will be the best way to go.

Howdy Xmastidings. Very cute indeed. We had a puppy that would always walk over to the tree and swat the bell on the bottom. Never tried to "eat" it, but I guess enjoyed the sound.
Almost time for the decor to come down inside this abode, in fact it is scheduled for next weekend.

Good Morning, Folks.

Another new week is here.
And can you believe we are nearly half way through January already?
Wow. Seems like just yesterday we were watching that ball drop.

But there are other things of immediate significance to us that are also hard to believe:
Days to the Season: 302
Days to Christmas Day: 344

And the hardest thing about that to believe is the fact that we are now only TWO days away from the 300-Day Season Milestone marker and the start of a 200's level Season count number.
(So far, so fast!)


We did not get out of the mid 30's all day yesterday.
Starting out cold here again today, at 21 degrees. Possible frozen precipitation for Wednesday and temperatures below 20.
BRRRR!

Good Saturday evening! The snowstorm has passed and left 36cm of snow. It was a nightmare this morning getting to work. Our parking lot had not been cleared so David had to help/push/clear a path for me to just get to the street. But then my small street had been cleared just once during the night and the car got stuck when I tried to turn into another street. This time I was just about to call a tow truck to get me un-stuck but a pick-up truck which had driven by backed up and two guys came out and brought their shovels and helped David get me out. There are still good people in this world. David gave them money and thanked them for their help.

My troubles weren't over though, there were areas on the highway where we could barely see. And once at work, the parking lot had not been cleared and I almost got stuck but backed up just in time and basically just parked there. The cleaning company people who were coming in at the same time as me also had tons of troubles and one of them did get stuck in the parking lot. We grabbed the shovels from the store and 2 of them got him out. I was relieved getting home that the worst was over but David had warned me that they hadn't plowed our parking lot, so I was dreading having to find a spot on the street in between the mountains of snow, but as luck would have it, just as I turned onto my street, I saw the plow guy leaving our parking lot. The one good thing about today.

I hope everyone is safe at home and enjoying a a nice evening.

Wow, I can't imagine that kind a snow! It's always good to be reminded that not everyone has given up on being good neighbors!

Good Monday morning, Christmas friends!

We finally took down our Christmas decorations on Saturday, and it took almost all day. It sure doesn't take that long to put it up LOL.

It's been cold, with lows in the 20's (a big deal around here), but really nice in the afternoons. I plan to go hunting this afternoon, since it's the last day of the season, so I'll be taking a half-day off. Bernie is going with me, so it should be a good afternoon.
