Thank you! It did. I am off now until Wednesday since everything for my cousin is Monday and Tuesday

You're welcome! I'm glad it went by fast for you. :)
I'll be keeping you and your family in my prayers, nmc.
I hope you have a good weekend!
xx

Good Morning, First Weekenders.
Yep.
It's the opening weekend of the brand new year.
First in a series of 51.

But there are not quite that many weekends separating us from Christmas Season 2019.
That number is only 44.

And speaking of numbers:
Days to the Season: 312
Days to Christmas Day: 354
Notice that first number, if you will. And marvel at the fact that we are already practically down to SINGLE DIGITS to the 300-day Season Window and the start of a 200's level Season count sequence!
<< So soon, Crown? >>
So soon, little voice.

Still more rain fell yesterday, but a nice weekend is predicted and it has commenced here in central North Carolina at a dry and sunny 50 degrees.

Have a Sensational Saturday, Everyone.
And don't forget the start of the NFL playoff games this afternoon!
Colts/Texans and Seahawks/Cowboys.
Thanks Crown. Have a great Saturday and enjoy the temps.

Good morning, friends. Hope you all are having a wonderful start to your weekend. Mine is off to a nice start.

We made a decision to "cut the cord" to our cable TV yesterday and start streaming. After all of the expenses of start up, we could save almost $120 a month. We have really been debating it for a few months and thought we might as well take the plunge. With a trip to Disney coming in November, we will need all the extra cash we can get. We don't watch too much TV. Usually, it is just there for background noise or on a cartoon. Doc and I sit down after the kids go to bed and we might watch 30 minutes to an hour a day. Now, football is different. I will watch sports...but that isn't just watching TV, right?

Looks like a wedding is in my future today.........................

On the inside, I'm screaming no!! However, the outside appears jovial. I'm just goig to ride this one out and let it play itself out. If my Cowboys weren't playing in the playoffs, it would be completely different. After all, after you have been to one wedding....haven't you been to them all? Give him this ring, give her this ring, say I do, kiss...go party. Isn't that how it goes?

Coach, I don't even have a TV anymore! There was a severe storm here this past summer and one extremely scary lightning strike close by that burned the phone lines going to and from the phone box, split a pine tree in two, and killed the TV. I only had local channels as cable and WI-FI aren't available out here, so if I wanted anything it had to be via satellite. The package that had TCM and Hallmark, the two channels I watched the most, was the premiere one and way out of my price range as being an antique dealer I do not have a guaranteed income every month and really have to budget. Since I can watch DVDs on my laptop, that is what I do and I've found out that I really don't miss the TV! :)

My wife has me going to a wedding.

A wedding.

(Just know, brother, that I am trying to use my wisdom in this situation...knowing that you shouldn't "poke the bear." A lot more of times, I do a really good job of picking my battles. I'm trying real hard to decide if this is one of them. My judgement is cloudy on this one...any advice?)

Very simple Coach, just don’t poke the Bear!!!!

Thats been on my mind also. Once I’m done with this contract, I think I’m going to look into the very same thing to what your doing and see if I can stream everything that we currently watch now.

You’ve peaked my interest Coach!

Just went to my bank and opened a Christmas club account.. I didn’t realize they still had these ,of course I’m 13 weeks behind but who cares I will stash money until October and be thinking Christmas every week when I make a deposit so it’s really a win win ....

We have one. I’ve had one for many years, Let me tell you, it’s one of the smartest moves you will ever do. It is fantastic!! My wife never had a Christmas Club account, ever. And after we got married, I told her about them, and how they worked and all, she was ok, let’s see what happens. When that nice check came in the mail in the Fall of the year, she was like, “that was a pretty smart thing to do!”

Christmas, Weddings, babies, new jobs, new families, new cars, new homes, joy and sorrow; we gather here to celebrate Christmas and wind up celebrating so much more with each other.

Time for an Auntie original ...

Yule Oral Ability … by AuntieMistletoeDear

After nearly fifteen years of observations, participation and chat experience, I have concluded that there are a large number of individuals suffering (or not) from the same Yule Oral Ability that I have discovered in myself.

The symptoms include:
~Reading Christmas books, novels, comics, letters, cards, etc. after January 31st and prior to Nov.1st.
~Re-reading those same books (etc.) year after year or month after month.
~Keeping a festive journal of plans, gift & decorating ideas along with recipes.
~Counting down the days until Christmas Day arrives (this includes, for many, a new countdown on Boxing Day).
~Talking about Christmas all year long.
~Thinking about Christmas in your head (dwelling in that Christmas closet afraid to tell those around you what you are thinking).
~Recalling Christmases of the past - brought about by someone else’s words, sounds or smells you encounter during the day.
~Music - of a Yule nature - plays in your head or emits from your CD, MP3, iPod, turntable, bluetooth, etc. in the “off season”.
~Others see a pine tree - you see a tree transformed into a Christmas display of lights, ornaments, beads, garland, tinsel or cranberry and popcorn strings.
~ You create scrapbooks, pictoral journals, elaborate yard and/or indoor displays.
~You dream of a white Christmas in June and again in December (even if you live in a climate that never receives snow).
~You nod your head knowingly when you hear a child in a school yard yell “ouch!” after freeing his/her tongue from the frosty flagpole, fence or railing.
~You wear Christmas socks or bells that jingle on your shoes - just because.
~You crave eggnog, hot cocoa and wish you had a fire nearby to roast marshmallows or chestnuts (even if they don’t taste good - bleh).
~You start your letter to Santa early to avoid the Christmas rush.
~The Merry jargon you use is not understood by your family, the general public, and co-workers.
~You have difficulty finding the humour in a joke if it isn’t followed by a jolly HoHoHo.
~You make up festive operas and perform at the Shispering Pines Playhouse where you are served by a three-humped camel that carries eggnog (during the season) or special coffee/tea blends in that middle hump (during the off season).
~You dream of going to the North Pole, meeting Santa, Mrs. Claus, the Elves and Reindeer or helping Santa deliver presents all around the world.

If you have checked off more than five of the above criteria, face it - you are a Christmas Wacko and have Yule Oral Ability. Oh sure, there are those who might call it a Yule Oral Disability, but as long as it’s keeping you jolly all year long, why would you want to look for a cure. So, that’s why this is called Yule Oral Ability rather than Yule Oral Disability.

Feel free to join me in my Yule Oral Ability Support Group - and share your Festive Yulable Moments here anytime.

Have yourself a cool yule-ish kinda day! -surprise-

Keep Merry All Day Long! -reindeer-

I can check off 13 of those. -sing-

We have done a christmas club almost every year for the past 16 years and it does make Christmas shopping so much easier and less stressful.

My wife and I have been debating to cut the cord or not. My problem is if we cut the cord i lose the channel that carries the Boston Bruins, and that is where we stop talking about it because that is really the only thing I completely enjoy to watch. I hope it goes well for you.
I hope you enjoyed the wedding.

Good evening all,

I meant to visit the last 2 days but I forgot until it was too late. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit.
I had today off because we were supposed to go to my family's Christmas party, but my aunt had to cancel last moment because she was sick. It doesn't look like it will be rescheduled. So today we just hung out at home, I blasted Christmas music for hours, and now sitting in the warm glow of my tree and lights.
I made sure to come in today because it is my 9th anniversary of joining MMC. I joined because of a really bad case of PCB's, and even though I haven't been here much the last 2 years I still love this place and how the Christmas spirit is always here.
I was told back in December by a friend, that I restored her Christmas spirit for the first time in years. She had lost it due to family issues. She told me because of my love for Christmas, wearing Christmas sweaters, socks, and shirts and talking about my love of all things Christmas it made her happy Christmas was around again, she tearfully thanked me for restoring her Christmas spirit. She said she couldn't wait until next Christmas to decorate the outside of her house with her husband and kids. We are already talking about competing against each other on whose house looks better.
I want to thank the MMC community for keeping my Christmas spirit strong, that's what Christmas is all about to me. helping others in ways you dont know.
Have a good night

Half an hour left of Twelfth Night ... we watched some festive things this evening to see the old season off. Tomorrow I’ll start packing away the tree ornaments. I didn’t get enough Christmas this year to suit me, somehow. I’m already thinking about the next Christmas season.
