Happy Weekend Morning, my Friends!
It's chilly outside but warm inside as we commence our little weekly oasis.

And this is sure to warm the coldest heart:
Days to the Season: 291
Days to Christmas Day: 333

Still feeling a bit chilled?
Well then consider this:
We have now moved to within 17 days of completing the first QUARTER of our journey to Christmas Season 2019. Less than 2 1/2 weeks to go.
(Moving nicely down the tracks on the Season Express!)

Today begins here cold but dry, with an optimistic high of 52 degrees predicted.
For now, we have commenced this first day of the weekend under a brilliant sun at 29 degrees here in the middle part of North Carolina.

Have a Sensational Saturday, Everybody!
Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks Crown! Have a great last weekend of January!

Good Saturday midday! I am at work, day 2 of 6 days in-a-row before being off work for 10 days as David will have his shoulder surgery. I was so tired this morning, sitting up in bed sleepily watching the news, with Loki tucked in between David and me. Loki kept resting his head on my lap, it was so comforting, I really did not want to go to work.

Hope everyone will enjoy a great weekend ahead!

Good morning, my friends. Big day planned for us. Ballcoach is breaking back into the coaching ranks and coaching Bambina's Little Dribblers basketball team.

What did you say Ballcoach? Basketball practice?

In my years of being a baseball years...I won just over 200 games in 9 years....and none of them were basketball. None of them involved kids under 13. I don't know anything about basketball....heck, I barely know something about 5 year olds.

This could be ugly....

That is so exciting, Coach! You'll catch on quick and plus, you'll enjoy it so much more, because you'll be doing it will Bambina and vice versa. Enjoy every moment!

Good afternoon, MMC! I forgot to wish you all Happy Rudolph Day yesterday! The kids and I went with our best friends today for coffee and scones, then came back and spent this am at out house. DH got overtime today, worked last night and was already scheduled to work tonight, so is working until tomorrow am. We will have church and Sunday school in the am, and DS has BB gun club in the afternoon, so we will very busy.

Not much actually planned here today. I want to go through some more boxes and clean. I would like to do a yard sale late spring/early summer and make some extra money for Disney. I am waiting on an order of holiday decorations to come from LTD and Jim Shore that were to arrive yesterday, but I got notice that they didn't due to weather or a "emergency" and still aren't here today and it surely wasn't weather. I had a notice originally, saying they had been out on the truck, so I am going to call and see what is going on.

Dinner tonight will be easy - grilled cheese and tomato soup. Hope you're all having a great day!

Good Afternoon/Evening MMC friends...Hope everyone is having a Merry weekend so far...Had a lovely time away with the family but glad to be back home too though...My girls had a fab time doing what they wanted...Took the girls to an ice-hockey game,Then we went bowling and after that we went to the cinema and watched Mary Poppins Returns...managed to fit loadsa fun in on the 2 days away....My girls will be 8yrs old tomorrow so we have family and friends coming over for drinks, snacks and birthday cake..Enjoy your evening ahead MMC friends:)

Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

It rained a few inches last night, and I didn't even know it. They yard was underwater this morning, but it's supposed to clear up this afternoon.

We're meeting with a Hospice worker this morning for Nancy's mom. I'm trying to convince them that calling in Hospice to help doesn't necessarily mean her health is completely gone, but the whole family is upset. Nancy said I didn't have to go to the meeting, but I think I better be available to her.

Elizabeth's competition didn't go well yesterday. We burned a CD with the music she planned to use, but the song failed during her performance, and she had to finishing dancing and singing with no music. Bless her heart. I should have listened to the entire recording after I burned the CD. I just assumed it would work. I'll take the blame. :(

Anyway, enough of my complaints. I really do hope y'all have a great day! :D

When I was in the Miss Burke's Playground Talent Show, I came in second. The girl that won continued to sing when a power outage occurred due to overloading the electrical system with all the extras used to feed us and keep us warm like hot chocolate, chili, etc. My mom said she won because she was a good sport and kept on performing despite the lights going out.
Truth be told, her eyes were closed while she was singing so she didn't even notice the lights were out.
Sore loser here, I suppose - remembering that after 48 years or more.
Elizabeth sounds like a true talent though.

When I was in grade 9, my brother who was in grade 10 directed and starred in a series of sketches. He asked me to record it on cassette. I never heard the tape recorder click so it stopped recording and I missed half of the first part before the break when I realized I had not turned it over. He was pretty disappointed, but he got over it.
What a difference in the technology of today vs. the way it was when I was using a two-sided tape recorder with clunky buttons.

My mom had a hard time accepting help in the beginning, but then enjoyed it because the people who came to care for her were attentive to her conversation as well as her health issues.
I hope it goes well.

The window next to my desk is leaking water onto the sill from the rain and wind ... trying to keep it mopped up.

I would worry about electronics and my paper work if that was happening so close to my desk.
I had to go over to work really early one morning due to a leak and some flooding in the lower level. They called me because I lived the closest. Maintenance laughed at the sight of me in my shorts and rubber boots teasing me about where I had left my hip waders.
The leak was caused by a pipe belonging to the city so while they paid to repair the damage, they didn't cover the cost of a rotted piece of furniture.
Guess we got off lucky in that case 'cause it could have been far worse.
The roof leaked for several years in a few spots, I got so tired seeing buckets and slippery floor signs in the halls in two different sections; took them 6 years to have the funds to fully repair that roof.

Good evening all.

It is turning nice and cold here. Single digits by morning with windchill around -10 or -15. Snowing outside too. Just snow showers, nothing big.

We had a two hour delay this morning for some ice and snow. Tomorrow might be another delay. Next week we might be delayed or closed quite a bit with a combination of several small snows and very cold temperatures. We shall see.

Not much going on. Henry finally gets his birthday celebration this weekend. He is having some friends over Saturday and they are going to a place called "Get Air" It is a jumping place. Henry really enjoys it. Then they are having a sleep over Saturday night. He is really looking forward to it.

Well, everyone have a great night!

I miss our birthday slumber parties. Gosh, they were fun especially when it was all night horror movies. Whomever fell asleep first became the object of a practical spooky joke. Mom always made lots of tasty snacks.
As we got older, we would take 4 friends out for dinner and a movie or however we chose to celebrate.

This must be the week of bad sleep for everyone. I worked 1 pm to 10 pm Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday I did a double and then worked 9 to 2 today. Yesterday and today I found myself dozing on the couch before I had to be at work so I know I've been exhausted.
I am off tomorrow so I am raking my cousin to get new sneakers. I will catch up on laundry too. I hope everyone had a to great day

I had a bad case of insomnia on Monday and Tuesday, but on Wednesday and Thursday I only woke up once during the night and had a great sleep except my dreams were really bizarre. I had a wee nap today so I guess I'll stay up a bit later than usual.

I need to start paying better attention to our forecast again. I didn't realize it was supposed to be so cold. Our schools were closed today. Weather has been crazy!

We had some warmer temps on Thursday, but then it got really cold again and today I should have stayed in at -36 without the windchill, but I had too many errands to run and I wanted to get my haircut so I went out anyway. Not as many vehicles out there to slow me down. I'm always so pleased when my car starts in this type of weather.

Thursday evening I heard a moose; never saw it, but it was such a wonderful sound.

I'm one of those drivers who has to remove every speck of snow from my car before I can get moving and it irks me when I see other drivers out there with snow on the roof and sometimes they barely wipe their windows clear.

I had to haul up 3 huge totes full of groceries from the car and I did it all in one trip 'cause it was so cold, but my arms felt like they were stretched down to my feet by the time I climbed the stairs and got inside.

I'm glad the sun is shining, I was kidding with a few strangers who were shopping 'cause everyone seems to be getting exercise walking so briskly to and from the shops and vehicles.

I ran into someone I haven't seen in about 8 years; she's a grandma now. We were never friends that "hung together", but always liked each other; we just traveled in different circles so we didn't become close. I haven't seen her husband at the fitness centre for awhile so I teased him about how the workouts were going; he had a mild heart attack so he's been taking it easy and will go back at it slowly. Woops - you never know when you're teasing that someone could be going through something like that.

How did this post get so long simply by starting out talking about the weather?

Thank you nmc! I'm sure it will be fine - it's just so overwhelming at the moment! Thankfully my co-workers started from the beginning too, so they understand the learning process! It's just so different ...

I understand about dozing on the couch. That's not like me either but this week I could snooze at any given moment...except when I'm supposed to be sleeping. LOL! Enjoy your day off tomorrow!

On Thursday, I was watching Apollo 13 and O'Malley was next to me and all of a sudden, I caught myself snoring and snapped out of it and O'Malley was down on the floor, guess my arm on his side got too heavy. I asked him why he didn't wake me. HaHa.

Happy Final Friday of January MMC! And of course, Happy Rudolph Day #1 (here we go again)! Does Christmas feel a month ago already? Yes and no. It does seem like a while ago now but I feel like in a way I remember it like yesterday. Anyway, just looking forward to another winter weekend. Weather should be mostly dry and cold/normal. Nothing extreme again until Mid-Week next week. Have a great TGIF Everyone!

My Rudolph Day surprise to the gang at work and the lads at the fuel bar of a full service station were appreciated.
I thought of my merry friends here when I was stopped behind a school bus that still had a Santa and Snowman image stuck to both sides of the rear windows. I also observed decorated trees in the window display at the Urban Accents store and then today I noticed a Santa hat and beard affixed to a beam when I entered the butcher shop from the back door and I spotted a giant snowman that I imagine is quite sparkly at night.
Hard to believe Christmas is behind us and yet with these countdown offerings, we see how fast the next one is approaching.

Love it!

Mine went bonkers this year, between shortly before Thanksgiving to nearly Christmas, with more blooms than I ever saw on it at one time. Sometimes it'll put out a few blooms in early spring ... a few blossoms came out in 2013 right after the Boston Marathon bombing, which was a little eerie, as though it were memorializing those affected.

The Christmas Cactus on my dad's side bar bloomed. He said he thought it was dead and doesn't recall watering it or anything, but didn't have the heart to throw it out 'cause my mom liked it so much. A few times it bloomed a few days before Christmas and one year it didn't bloom until Easter. We figured it was a good sign although a bit odd since he wasn't taking care of it. The Easter that it bloomed was the a few weeks before the Boston Marathon. Wonder if it had anything to do with the temperatures in their home at the time?

Today was a productive day off even though I slept in. I got laundry done that had been piling up. I took my cousin out and bought him some new sneakers and some casual shoes. He desperately needed them as his old ones were really beat up.
Tonight my cousin who is getting married in February bought her wedding dress. Back in December she bought a navy blue dress and decided that was what she was going to wear. She asked me to order a white dress for Carolina to be the flower girl. Carolinas white dress showed up today and the only dress Evie could find at last minute was ivory. Luckily I was able to order an ivory dress from Kohls but now I have to find ivory shoes for Carolina

We just booked our room at a fancy lodge for our grandsons wedding in May. It's exciting; I like going to weddings especially when there is family involved.
I remember one time I was going to the wedding of my cousin's best friend and her husband was in charge of getting me there and approving of what I was going to wear. I showed up in a floral dress on white with mauve socks and gold sandals. HaHa. I don't recall any photos of that get-up. I surely didn't match much.

This could be ugly....

Number 2 son had to become a coach if he wanted his son to play because all the teams were full so he and a buddy from down the street became coaches so another team for the league could be formed and Sam could play.
Well, as a soccer coach, it was a good move on his part; of all the sports that Sam has participated in over the years, he continued with soccer and once he finishes High School, he may have an opportunity to go to the UK to coach the University Team; they already pitched the idea to him, but his parents won't let him go yet, he's too young, but has the talent for it.
I didn't even know 5 year olds could play basketball.
When Sam started in soccer, the boys would run after the ball and then run after the rabbits and then back at the ball.

Next year is his last in high school; hope his decision for the future turns out great and that you enjoy coaching a different sport.

I remembering watching these guys perform live when I was younger.

Hope you have fun.

333, you say - well, I saw 3:33 on the clock today - it's a merry sign - me thinks.

I love it when O'Malley wraps his tail around my arm like a boa constrictor without the big squeeze or when he's resting beside me and let's out a big sigh of contentment.
Pets sure are good medicine for us. Sometimes when I have trouble sleeping, I try and picture the way O'Malley sleeps in so many different positions and places - it's better than counting sheep.

Hm, maybe ... I think they are sensitive to temperature and light.
They’re also hardy survivors. Mine is the only house plant that has ever survived my care.
