:ornarmentGood Morning - Merry Chums!:shakeit

My dad is joining me today for a road trip up the north hwy to the old Fire Tower to scatter the first of 4 destinations my husband requested his ashes to be scattered. He and I hiked there many times so I could take fall photos and the view was spectacular.

Then we're continuing further north to Kirkland Lake because he wants to get his photo taken by a few popular tourist spots of historical reference for friends of his who now live out on the west coast (one of them was born there - not sure if it was the husband or the wife).

We will be making a day of it, I suppose and get back around dinner time.

I picked up a new vacuum cleaner yesterday and WOW did it ever work well. I'm guessing my old Kenmore from Sears that was 28 years old wasn't working right the last few years - very little suction power. The Dirt Devil Featherlight upright did a remarkable job. I had to empty the canister three times and you wouldn't believe the amount of fur from O'Malley, sand, etc. that it picked up. I just have my bedroom left to do this morning and then I can walk barefoot if I so choose.

Got my floors done yesterday in the kitchen and bathroom, but didn't get to the windows on the balcony - it was still too hot outside. The work inside was made easier by the numerous fans keeping me cool.

I picked up some farm yum-yums consisting of fresh strawberries (delicious on their own - will likely enjoy them with cereal this morning) and yellow beans and medium sized garden cucumbers.

I had a lovely sandwich for dinner with double layers of cucumber, tomato and cheese followed by a small bowl of slice strawberries - they were so sweet it felt like I was eating something naughty.

Mmmm +j

Wish I had a huge vegetable garden and a field of a variety of berries.

Happy Sunday - Stay Jolly!

Happy Christmas In July MMC! This weekend I've been just not feeling like staying up late. Well I never do but especially this weekend. I'm just about to make some pancakes. Anyone want some? I'll be working 3 days coming up this week and then off for 4. I wish that I could keep that schedule going every week and all year. Have a great Christmas In July Sunday!

Good Morning, One-Week-To-Go Milestone Followers!

And, just as sure as the beard on Santa's chin, we are precisely ONE WEEK away from our next pending count marker.

Days to the Season: 129
Days to Christmas Day: 171

July 14. Mark your calendars.
Because on that date, we will arrive at the TWO-THIRDS point to our long-awaited and much-coveted Christmas Season!
Really.
I promise!

We reached 93 degrees for the high yesterday and the humidity remained elevated.
Today should see a slight decline to 90, with an even shot at rain.
Currently, this second half of our weekend has commenced here, already at 79 degrees.

Have a Super Sunday and enjoy the balance of your weekend, Everyone!

Good morning, Christmas friends. Yesterday was a blast as we cooked steaks on the grill, watched the girls play outside, and we played cards last night. I love, love, love to play cards...but my wife and mom have been playing a new game with me and we all kinda like it. Good times.

Chores are all done for the day. We have church...and then it is time to just relax before we enter the madness, again. Y'all have a great day.

Merry Sunday! Today we have my youngest daughter’s softball game. They move onto the sectionals so we’ll see how they do. Back to work for me tomorrow and I am off Thursday and Friday. Hope you have a great day!

Good luck to them!

Good morning ... just got done making a batch of stuffed shells and stuffed manicotti's. I am flash freezing them now so I can store them in freezer bags to use later when time is short but still need to a home cooked dinner. Picked up a few Christmas gifts yesterday and earlier this week. Definitely much further ahead in the gift buying then I have been the last couple years. May have to start wrapping soon as my hiding spots are filling up quickly LOL.

Thank you, Sugar. We didn't go all the way to Kirkland Lake afterall. There were quite a few people at the tower so I took a side trail to another landing and grand view and scattered Gary's ashes near the roots of some lovely evergreens. My dad waited on the bench at the tower for me to scatter them on my own.

My send off had a touch of humour in it. That's just the way I roll.

They won't all be as easy as this one. I watched Roadhouse last night and that was one of his favourite movies.

My dad and I enjoyed our time together, but there was just so much green that my dad didn't feel like adding an extra 4 hours to our trip since we'll be travelling together after next weekend. I don't think he enjoys the drive as much as he used to so we'll take turns. I love driving, but I like music when I drive, today it was conversation and silence and more conversation.

Then we stopped at a chip stand so I could get a cheese dog to eat in Gary's honour and a small fry for me.

Home relaxing with the O'cat and watching Stepmom while posting here and there.

Our family loves to play cards too! The only game we play is Hearts. We have so many sayings and rituals that we have made up over the years. As all of the grandkids got older, most of them watched and learned and started to play as well. It was so funny to see them pick up and mimic all of the sayings and moves we use! I'm sure we are obnoxiously annoying to anyone there who isn't playing with us (like my sister; she never learned, so she just sits and rolls her eyes and laughs at us) but the competition is great between our family members! So many good memories have been made playing cards over the years. I keep most of the score sheets and scrapbook them. Such a great time!

Good Monday morning! We are having a string of sunny days but with less humidity than last week, so it’s entirely enjoyable. I’ll be going into work late this afternoon and staying until 11pm or later due to our annual strip and wax. A manager has to be on site while they do the cash office and can’t be done until after closing time and takes an hour and a half or so. Thankfully I have the day off tomorrow.

This week I’ll be going shopping with my 77-year old father for a used car. The car he had was 24 years old but is now done. I’m also looking at an organization which will pick up his car in exchange for a credit on his income tax returns. Hopefully we find something quickly because my dad is not a patient man.

Enjoy your day everyone!
