Good morning all!

Football camp last night was fun. The high school football team runs the drills for the young attendees and they did a great job. I am lucky to teach in a school district and small town that has such good kids. They were all great with the younger kids and made the whole experience fun. Camp again this evening and tomorrow.

Happy Tuesday...busy work day ahead but I am off on Thursday and Friday. Tonight my daughter has another softball game but if they lose tonight then they are done but a win means we play tomorrow night too. Hope you all have a great day!
good luck to your daughters team !

Good morning MMC!
Last night my wife and I became empty nesters. Three kids raised, educated, employed and paying taxes. One lives 750 miles away, another 500 miles, and the last one to move out lives here in town. It's kind of a weird feeling not having any of them here. Christmas morning will be very different for sure. Have a wonderful and blessed day!
yes, the house seems so empty at first. My first Christmas without them home was so strange, not have the excitement until they all arrived later in the morning and then having them leave for the inlaws later in the day. Big adjustment.

Good Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

I installed a SimpliSafe alarm system in my father-in-law's house last night, and I hope it gives him some peace of mind. He's been restless and "skittish" since Mrs. Hilda's passing, being all alone for the first time. Maybe this will help.

My mom said our cousin whose husband recently passed also wants me to install one in her house. I'm turning into a regular salesman for SimpliSafe! LOL

Elizabeth is being interviewed on the radio for Mary Poppins this morning!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

I have never heard of this, I will look into this for my mom as she is becoming increasinly anxious these days, this may help her too.

It has cooled here and so much more comfortable.
Working 12:15 to 4:15 today then have Wednesday and Thursday off. Taking mom to an appointment tomorrow.
Until then, not much to do as work around here is done until it gets messed up again.
It would be great to meet any of you when we are on our adventure to Greensboro NC in 2 weeks. Does anyone live near the I79? Or Greensboro and would you like to meet for coffee or lunch? Also planning to go to Washington and Philadelphia and way home. Son wants to go to New York city but I am not sure am brave enough to go there.

Have a great day everyone !!!

UGH, these hosts on HSN just dont have the same pizazz as QVC. Its hard to watch, but its Christmas so i have to keep watching :sway

I agree and I too continue to watch but I am fast-forwarding a lot more than I did last weekend.

Hello all. Hope the beginning of the week is going well for all. It's another sweltering hot day here with no rain in sight for a least a couple more days. Fingers crossed we'll get something by the end of the week.

Fun news. I did a Christmas cookie swap with a nearby-ish Christmas fan. I'm part of another Facebook group and they did a Christmas in July cookie swap, but only for the continental US. So, a couple of us Canucks said we would do our own and post on the FB page anyway. So, I did a little drive and we swapped. It was great to meet another Christmas enthusiast in person, and I get some cookies too! Plus on the way I get to listen to some great holiday podcasts.

Of course I stopped by the local bookstore to see if I could add to my collection. Needless to say I may have overdid it a bit.

Hope the rest of your week is going well and there's only five more days until vacay time. Woohoo!

My oldest brother headed out west and a year later my other brother moved out of town before he finished high school, then two years later, I moved in with him and just when my parents had the place to themselves, the oldest brother returned.
Hope you aren't too lonely.

I remember as a child when our home was broken into and I didn't feel safe. I guess it was more frightening for my parents who were supposed to protect us, but they slept through it too. We didn't hear a sound. They didn't get much, but made off with my mom's wedding ring because she took it off to do the dishes and forgot to put it back on her finger, our stockings that were out for Christmas in July and a few things from behind the bar. Our barking dog may have scared them off. All my dad had to do to help me feel safe was to put a double chain on the door leading downstairs to the family/rec room and the lower level to the basement. Back in those days, we kept the front door locked, but not the back door so that had to change too.

We got our stockings back - they tossed them in the back yard near the ditch that separated our property from the school yard.

It's good that you're helping them feel safe so they can remain independent.

Elizabeth must be so excited; just like her parents.

Congrats to you raising successful adults! I'm sure it will be hard at first, but know they can always come back, visit, and make more memories.

Happy Pines Day!

CamelCloseUp-2-1.jpg

This will be the last Shispering Pines visit for two weeks for O'Malley cat and I and I'm sure it will be memorable as Carl cooks up another Christmas in July treat for us.

Hump Day - feels like a very long week, but I have lots to do before I can go on vacation for two weeks without worrying about tasks left undone.

Going out for dinner with a friend tonight and will stop by the Pines later.

Stay jolly! -lights-

Happy Pines Day All

Sorry I have been slightly AWOL the last few days enjoying the hot weather, hiding from the sun, sorting the garden and preparing for birthdays.

My daughter turns 9 on the 14th and I turn 35 on the 17th so I am busy planning her birthday cake at the minute for her which I will bake on Saturday and assemble for her on Saturday night. So that is taking some planning - she must be the only girl I know who wants a unicorn and skull themed bedroom!

Anyway we have also decided on the 17th to go away camping for the night with the 3 dogs to a pretty little campsite over in west wales. Theres a nice little harbour and a lovely little town called St Davids just down the road so it will make for some nice walks I hope. Fingers crossed the weather stays nice.

Im also having quite an educational week as well. So far this week I have learnt ......
1. Sunscreen in the eye hurts like hell
2. It doesn’t taste any better
3. My garden is uneven - you will roll your ankle if you are not paying attention
4. Never leave the puppy unattended with toilet roll within said puppy’s reach whilst in garden.
5. Whilst retrieving toilet roll from puppy, bear in mind other 2 dogs will see this as a fun game and join in.
6. It’s sometimes easier to admit defeat. Clean toilet roll up later.
7. Putting up a 6 man tent by yourself is not an easy task - there’s a reason it says two are needed to put it up
8. If you check the tent bag before hand you won’t have a wonky tent because you missed one piece of pole!
9. Trying to do anything in the garden at 11.30 on a sweltering day when you hate sunshine was never going to be a good idea to begin with!

Thankfully today is cooler and I am not melting as much.

I have also decided this year that me and the kids will do some link to hope boxes. It is very much like the operation Christmas child shoe boxes but with these you fill them with small gifts for a family so everyone gets a present or you can fill it for an elderly person. I think the spirit of giving will be nice in itself but also a nice way to remember my grandad at Christmas too by helping out an elderly gent who needs it.

Good news on the family front too
FIL had his next bout of chemo and despite being a little sick has managed to go back to work
Zac my sons friend with Leukaemia is home and was just gifted a small wooden shed so he is able to sit out in the garden and enjoy the summer (he needs the shade as he has become intolerant to direct sunlight)
Chris my friend with the same leukaemia who was put into a coma is home! He is doing well, learning to walk again well and taking it easy but if youd of told me that this time last month Id of been shocked. I was preparing myself for the worst! Just goes to show God knows what hes doing.

So all in all its been a good week. Also set up my own little side project / business etc selling imported goods and have already had two orders so thats going well too :-)

Happy days!

Hope your all having a great day , enjoying sunshine, relaxing or whatever your doing! I will catch up on the thread for the few days I missed but if I did miss any birthdays /anniversaries /celebrations/ achievements etc - well done! Congrats! Good Job! Happy Birthday / Anniversary!

And hugs to all or any who need them :-)
