Hello everyone! We just returned from a week in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. My husband and I went with my mom and her best friend (my Godmother.) They are both 75 and have been friends since the 5th grade! The four of us went there in 2016 before my Dad got sick. When he passed earlier this year, my mom said it was the one place she wanted to return to, so off we went! The weather was absolutely beautiful all week, the ocean was great, I filled up on lots of seafood; however, the mosquitos were the WORST I have ever seen them! Silly us, out first night we had our lights on (of course) and were going in and out off the balcony, and when we went to bed we found 24 on our ceiling! Needless to say I couldn't sleep until my husband could show me their dead little carcasses. Despite those crazy bugs, I love the outer banks and was very happy to make the trip but I am also happy to be back home. That is, until I saw our weather. 92 on Tuesday and 64 on Friday? Welcome back to Ohio I guess! Hope everyone is doing well!

Glad to hear you had a wonderful time! The weather is crazy, isn't it?

Good Morning, MMC!! Well yesterday we set a record for the hottest October day in Indy ever at 92. Today, we may break that. It should be our last 90 degree day of the year though thankfully. Then 80’s tomorrow and 60’s on Friday. So hopefully the AC will be done with soon. I hope everyone has a great day!!!
What a temp change we have coming!!!

Hi everyone,

I'm just getting in a quick post. It's been a busy week thus far. I was super busy yesterday after school and didn't get out of work until about 6 pm. Staying at work for more than 10 hours isn't a good day!

On top of all the prepping for classes, I'm running about 85-100 KMs per week for training purposes. Thankfully, my race is coming up in just over two weeks. It will be very nice to have a few weeks off after the race!

The calendar keeps turning. It's crazy to think we're in October. I get a real kick of discussing October with my students. My students are mostly all adults over the age of 20 and a lot haven't been in Ottawa for a winter... Sure, the weather may seem relaxed right now, but they're in for a real treat over the next few months.

Have a great Wednesday, everyone!

Good Monday afternoon, Christmas friends!

Nancy and I just returned from our quick weekend in the mountains. We worked like dogs, cleaning and pressure-washing the house, but we had a great time together. I think Lulu was happy so see Bellville, though. that 5 hours road trip is more than she wants LOL.

And we bought some Smoky Mountain Fall decorations, so our house will be particularly festive this year.

I hope y'all have a great evening! :D

Glad to hear you guys had a great getaway and a nice time together. That was well deserved!

I'll grumble for the rest of the year because the temps will be higher than I want in SoCal for the holiday season. We're decorated for Autumn, but we're not huge fans of Halloween. Or at least the Trick-Or-Treaters part. *ugh**.

We don't do too much exterior decorating for Christmas, but do quite a bit inside including having four trees. The decor will be moved from the Christmas Shed (nick named the North Pole) Saturday November 2.
We haven't seen a trick or treater on our doorstep in years. Maybe they'll be old enough to venture from the side street this year to collect a treat.:)

October is a special month for me, Solice with several birthdays, the Canadian Thanksgiving, my wedding anniversary and Halloween; this year it will also pave way to an amazing jazz/reggae-ish night of entertainment and the Elton John Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert.

My dad and I are planning a short trip together so that Thanksgiving and my wedding anniversary (without my husband) becomes a special weekend instead of a sad one; we'll make new memories.

I had a dream about a blue, purple and black dragonfly and all of a sudden my husband was coming through a doorway with a tremendous light behind him and then when I saw his face and him walking without too much trouble, I realized it wasn't right. His face was a mix of his and Ian McKellen's (he didn't resemble Ian).

In the dream, I was catching the injured dragonfly to mend a damaged wing and my husband had come to congratulate me on healing it and returning it to it's family.

Too bad my husband's face was more wrinkly and his hair was longer and grayer than normal because that's what woke me up. I found myself looking toward the bedroom doorway when I woke up with a jump in my heart. He wasn't there.

That was at 2:22 a.m. and O'Malley heard me stirring and came along to see if it was time to rise and shine. It wasn't. I managed to get back to sleep and this time my dream took me to my old neighbourhood. I was running in the air and flying a bit through the schoolyard toward the back view of my old house where I celebrated my first Christmas when I was barely a year old.

I woke up with a smile on my face.

Keep a merry thought in your head. +f

I am not sure how any of this passes as restful....Hang in there.

Typical work day for me and then looks like we are getting some fall weather! There was another person that died from Equine Encephalitis from a darn mosquito in the next town over. And someone in my town is in the hospital with it. Very scary!! Never before have I been hoping for a colder weather and a frost. We are definitely staying inside during dusk..
Hope you all have a great day!

You can't be too careful when it comes to EEE. We've been doing the same thing - going in before the 'skeeters' come out. Between the skeeters and all the ticks that has definitely curtailed walks in the woods too. Come on frost!

Happy October everybody! We are battling what I hope is the final hot day / heatwave for my area. We are suppose to see 94 degrees today, but so far we have been spared because of a heavy cloud cover. My Iphone says it is 88 degrees, and by 5 PM the temps here should be falling. Tomorrow it is only supposed to be 82, but by Friday we have low 60's as the high, and down in the 40's at night!

And October is a great month because I get to put up my "big" Christmas Tree in Just 29 more days!

I am sure I'll have some down time between things, I already had to decline a few work things because I'm taking several scattered vacation days this month.

If that dream happened closer to Halloween, my mind would have got all crazy with imagination and I never would have fallen back to sleep.

I like being busy so the rest part will come from driving with my tunes and winding down with the O'cat at night.

Speaking of O'Malley; he's ready to roll in the repaired car and head for the Pines.

I thought you were teaching high school for some reason.

I have a few co-workers who have just started long-distance and marathon runs and they are totally hooked on them now.

Another friend, a minister, who moved away with his wife and children has been trekking, hiking and running across the Bruce Peninsula Trail. He did a 10k run in an hour and then went on a walk with his wife and they only did 4.6 k and it took them the same amount of time (strolling is much different).

I remember you sharing your birthday work out contest with your buddies years ago. Healthy living is good for you. I'm sure you'll enjoy race.

Good Afternoon/Evening MMC friends....Hope everyone is having a Merry day so far...Dont panic but its only 12 weeks till Christmas-gift--lights--list-

PANIC @tongue

I have to start my cards soon.
And my merry exchange shopping.

Everything else is close to done already.

Merry Pines Day!
It’s going to be cloudy & warm today, we’re expecting showers and temperatures in the mid 80’s. It’s supposed to be much cooler tomorrow which will be nice. Not too much going on here. I have another chiropractor appointment later this morning and I’m going to visit my parents as well. Other than that I will be working on some chores around the house. Dinner will be spaghetti & meatballs. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!
xx

I read that too fast and thought you were working on SMORES around the house; that would be more fun than chores. HaHa

Good Wednesday morning, Christmas friends!

Another large limb broke from the pecan tree behind our house. This one didn't do any damage (thank You, Lord!), but it was partially inside the carport and too big to manhandle. I got the saw out yesterday afternoon and cut it up into manageable pieces. A small branch poked me in the eye, and it's still sore, but if that's the extent of the damage, I can live with it.

Last week, the contractor who is building our new office hired a subcontractor to spray expanding foam insulation in the walls. My truck was parked nearby and the wind was really blowing, so I wound up with a light coating of foam insulation on it. Now I have to take it to a paint shop (at the contractor's expense) to see if it can be cleaned, or if I have to have a new paint job. I don't want to be without my truck for so long, but they are also renting one for me, so I can't complain too much.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

I was parked outside a school once and there was a crew preparing to do some tarring touch ups (who paves a whole road anymore) and although I was smart enough to move my vehicle. I suggested they go into the school and let the secretary know so the other three vehicles could be moved. Imagine if that tar got on the cars? They'd wind up where you are. At least they are covering the costs. You get a rental so you don't have to run around town in the golf cart.

Oh dear.

I am teaching high school, Auntie! I used to teach at a traditional high school, then I was offered a contract at a high school that has a population of adult students. It's the same curriculum and classes as a regular teenage high school, just with a different population. It's not bad!

That sounds like it would be a very fun run. I'm sure the Bruce Peninsula is beautiful this time of year! It's funny how much faster running is than walking.

Yes, that was a lot of fun. Believe it or not, we're coming up on the 10 year anniversary of that next year. And, it's actually that friend's 39th birthday today - thanks for reminding me that I need to message him!

I'll do my best to enjoy the race. My run today was far too long and I'm ready t pass out because of it. I really enjoy healthy living. I need to always be pushing myself with something.

Nothin' beats October-style fired twinkies. Well, maybe Canadian-style Thanksgiving fired twinkies next week?

The weekend is so close. Happy that we can all gather to celebrate tonight at the 'Pines!
