Day 4 Special Post
There are only three things that we truly have in life: Our possessions, our time, and our emotions. Our possessions, which we sadly so often chase in an ever ending desire, can be easily taken from us in an instant. Our time, while precious, is easily manipulated. Does anyone ever feel like they truly have enough time? It is taken from us in endless meetings, events, and observances that limits us to the places and people we would rather be enjoying. Our emotions however, belong exclusively to us. And while they can be triggered by events, people, and tragedy, they belong only to us. In this frame, it is why this forum and community exists. We have jobs, families, and demands on us. Our time is limited, yet we allow the emotion of the season to make us stop and revel in a community that loves what the holidays mean. We remember what the season is about- the enjoyment and excitement. It’s not about the possessions we get and give at the holidays. And, in a world truly gone mad, our emotions that are triggered by the holidays allows Us to remember that We only truly keep that which we share. And here, this family, share the feelings which make us unique in a world of cynics and dysfunction.

And so it has come to this

4 days until the season

Thank you for the reminder and the warmness that come from here.

Missed most of the workweek this week, home sick with a cold or virus or something that hit hard and just won't let go. Tried going back to work on Wednesday and only lasted an hour and a half before they sent me home. Hoping to be in shape for Monday, as the workdays are long and hard. I want to kick off this virus so I can start thoroughly enjoying the season!

Hope you feel better soon Merry. But listen to your body and give it the rest that it needs.

Wish we had a LOVE button - thank you for your awesome post. It was double YABBA!

Here you go, Auntie!

Yes you do - VIRUS GET GONE! :wagfinger

This morning, I got ready to venture out and then saw the snowstorm and the pile of snow on the car and changed my mind. Called my dad, we chatted on the phone. Should connect tomorrow in person if the weather isn't too bad.

I was thankful for FB today because I thought the hockey tournament my youngest granddaughter was involved with in my merry neck of the woods was next weekend. Whew! I saw a post from last night at the hotel. I made it in time to watch her first hour, they lost to that team by one point and are playing again now. And have one more game in the morning before heading back to Ottawa. I met my new grandpuppy, Stella. She's a Yorkie and so tiny that she was sleeping curled up in a plaid winter hat while the hockey game was underway.

Went out for lunch with #1 son and his wife and we made plans for our Christmas visit. Wound up having breakfast instead of lunch at the 50's Diner. Short visit, but a good one. The snow stopped when I headed to the arena and started again when I left the restaurant.

I went to the mall and bought about $100.00 worth of personal care and hygiene products for youth and adults as well as some character shampoo, body wash and hair accessories for children. I will snap a photo of the assortment to add to #1 & #2 grands Christmas cards once I pick up a few seasonal stuffed toys to with it for the Crisis Centre.

Now I'm ready to relax and get cozy with my festive fleece throw and watch some TV.

Enjoy the rest of your day. :blinky:

Sounds like you had a busy day despite the snow. I love your description of tiny Stella sleeping in a hat ❤️

Merry Saturday!

Working on projects all weekend, but I'm done for today. Going to browse the forums and do a quick check of my email and then I'm going to watch a movie or two.

Wonderfully said, Binger. I don't know how I can follow that. 4 days until the Season!!

Special Post: Day 3.

We all joined My Merry Christmas to discuss something that is near and dear to our hearts. In this forum, although I may not post as much as I have in previous years, I always feel home. This will always be my online home and I think I speak for everyone when I say that we are so lucky to have each other.

We are now only three days away from our yearly tradition of gathering around our computers and counting down the minutes to the Christmas Season in realtime. Most of us have never met, yet we consider ourselves family. Christmas has not only provided us with a place to discuss our favourite Season, but it has provided us with a place to gather, talk, laugh, and love like one big family.

While we have our traditions at MMC, we also have our family traditions at home. These traditions can often bring us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Today, I had the opportunity to pull out some old musical lights that were a staple to visiting my grandparents' home at Christmas. I don't think anything makes me reflect more than the twinkling and slightly faded instrumental sounds of the 1970s era lights. My grandmother past away two years ago, four days before Christmas - on the darkest day of the year. When my grandfather past, it was easily the darkest day of my life. I've never met two more caring and loving people in my life.

My grandmother (and grandfather) loved Christmas. They are the true reason I am here today sharing my love for our Season with you all. And, now, the more I think about it, it seems fitting that I will forever have their musical lights to help me light my way even through the darkest of times.

As Binger said, "this family shares the feelings which make us unique in a world of cynics and dysfunction." These times are dark for many, but we must remember to always have an open mind and love one another. We all always have each other to light up our days. And, soon, the entire world will have Christmas to light up itself, once again. Soon, we will hear the magical sounds and feel the most ultimate joy we can feel throughout the year. Soon, we will, once again, do our best to make the rest of the world's hearts become filled with love and hope. Soon, we will join together and be able to say those two magical words.

There are only three days remaining. The Christmas Season is almost upon us.

Happy Double Digits November MMC! It's still cold out there but not quite as bad as Saturday. It should warm up a bit today. And we should see some sunshine. Nice to see on a weekend of course. Only 2 weeks to go till Thanksgiving Week. Wow. Have a great Double Digits November!

Excellent post, Brent; I related to all of it, but especially having a merry keepsake from Christmases past to keep me company and stir up memories of family traditions. I have my moms mirrored glass beads and Fabric Angel tree topper to cherish as well as a few of my God-Mothers Christmas music boxes so I can remember them fondly.

:snowhappyMerry Sunday :snowball

The snow plows woke me up at 2:00 a.m. I couldn't get back to sleep until 3:30; well the cat let me sleep until nearly 7:00. WOW. It was actually my dream that woke me up; not the cat. He heard me stirring and started his wake up call and I said," Yeah, I'm getting up; thanks for letting me sleep in."

When I was walking down the hallway toward the kitchen to start the Keurig, I saw big fluffy snowflakes floating down and blowing around outside the window.

The fluffy flakes reminded me of the old Christmas Caroling days when the weather would often be perfect - better than our singing.

Not much happening today, I'm making meatloaf, charging my MP3 player and doing a bit of housework. I'll be listening to Christmas music for motivation - haha, any excuse.

The snow was pretty steady yesterday with a mix of light flakes and fluffy stuff. The temperature has been warm so there isn't too much on my car, but I trust the windows will need some scraping and the roads are slushy. Looking forward to getting my snow tires put on next Friday. I have to fill the second feeder for the birds that have been visiting. The woodpecker feeder has brought a few visitors. I have a pigeon roosting on the window ledge of the guest bedroom right next to the robin nest that hasn't been occupied since that nasty raven scooped up my friend. I don't care for the mess they leave behind, but this one is kind of pretty and seems to be alone so I don't mind.

Have a super Sunday - special Day 3. :shakeit
