I would love to see a darker version of A Christmas Carol incorporating a lot of the narrator and Jacob Marley.
I feel they could "borrow" some the description of Marley from the book "Jacob T. Marley" by R. William Bennett. It was a very well written book, and the story of Marley was well thought out and the author intertwined the lives of Scrooge and Marley before they even worked together.

Re the darker aspects of the story---have you seen the UK trailer for the Sim version of Scrooge versus the US trailer? The UK trailer highlights the dark, Dickensian aspects of the story; the US trailer makes it look like a cheery, lighthearted holiday movie. Interesting (and enlightening!) how it was marketed so differently for the different countries!

I've got a great idea-take a slice from Baz Lhurmann and do a modern version of the Dickens classic-use the original dialogue, but put it in a modern setting. I'm working on such an adaptation right now, and it would be filmed right here in modern day New Englnad.
