DAYS TO HALLOWEEN : 157
DAYS TO OCTOBER 1ST: 127
DAYS TO JOL DAY: 4

Good Morning Halloween Friends! BIG Day today as we officially reached HALF WAY to Thanksgiving! Edge brings up a great point that the second half will be awesome because we have The Bers and Fall to lead us part of the way.

We're not doing too shabby here either with our counts. June is going to be here before we know it but before it is out, we will welcome in the 100 day milestone to October 1st.

Speaking of October, I made another Hobby Lobby run last night, and wasn't disappointed. More and more Fall stuff going out, but to be honest, the highlight of this trip is that Christmas stuff is finally going up in earnest. In addition to the clear plastic ornaments, I finally saw burlap rolls, wrapping paper, bows, and up top waiting to go down to the newly cleared off shelves, tubes and tubes of ornaments! Makes me happy. Now I am assured to go in there weekly and see new stuff!

Have a great Thursday folks!

Alright, fellow spooks, it's time for me to catch up on the Seasonal Candy of the Week for this week! To make up for the delay, I've got not one, but TWO selections for you today: One that you'll be able to find on shelves this Halloween season, and one other that will help us usher in the Bers!

First up: More candy corn!

This upcoming candy reveal comes courtesy of a user on Reddit who discovered that Brach's "Bello" Candy Corn will be available this season, because for some reason the Minions are still popular. These are banana, blue raspberry, and vanilla flavored, and I can't imagine any scenario where these actually taste good, but maybe they'll surprise me. There's no definitive timeframe for relief, but the Reddit guy who found these says you'll be able to find them "closer to Halloween."

However, you'll be able to snag this next pick a bit earlier - in September, actually! To celebrate the arrival of the Ber months, I'll be snacking on M&Ms White Chocolate Pretzel Snowballs!

This find comes courtesy of Instagram account "Chubster's Paradise." Now, obviously these are winter themed, but seeing as they're going to be available in September, I'd like to think someone at M&M/Mars Candy is just as huge a fan of the Bers as we are. What you see is what you get: A white chocolate M&M with a pretzel core. I'm a big fan of pretzel M&Ms, so I'm very much looking forward to these. Are you? Or does the Bello Candy Corn look more satisfying to your sweet tooth? Let's discuss!

That's it for this week. My apologies it took so long to get these out here, but like I said, I have a good reason for the delay: I'm an uncle now! My sister-in-law gave birth to a healthy baby boy after being rushed to the hospital early on Tuesday. He is a preemie (less than 4 pounds) and is in the NICU, but he is happy and healthy as are his mom and dad! So that's been very exciting.

Have a great day, and a great long Memorial Day weekend, fellow spooks!

Nice finds. It's all slowly ramping up! And congrats on the whole new nephew business!

DAYS TO OCTOBER 1ST: 126
DAYS TO JOL DAY: 3

Good Morning Halloween friends! The holiday weekend is FINALLY upon us! It is indeed the unofficial start of Summer, but those of us here in the Halloween / Thanksgiving / Bers thread know that it is officially the start of something else.

The weather is for sure going to try its best to make it feel like October this weekend. I've got a pretty good chance at having a rainy and gloomy "Dark Arts Sunday". I've got two nights over the weekend where it gets down into the 40's!

Memorial Day / Jack O Lantern Day #3, weather wise, is going to be about as close to a Bers day as we can get in May. 70 degrees, sunny, and that night 45!

I hope all enjoy this Friday, its not one of those lovely October Fridays leading into the October weekends that we all dream about, but I think this one is going to be pretty close, with everything going on and the weather!

Had to pop back in here for a rare mid-afternoon update, which isn't something I normally do unless something is on my mind!

I'm not sure if anybody has heard of the website Dinosaur Dracula, but it is Matt from the former website X-entertainment.com. Not as in "x rated" entertainment, but rather retro stuff from past years.

He had a feature today on his facebook where they are going to be previewing soon, Halloween 2021 products. Skittles "shriekers" were on there, which I believe @The_Escalation has posted about on here, as well as one of my other long-time favorites, Mountain Dew "Voo Doo" - the mystery flavor each year.

Matt speculated on what if "Pitch Black" was the mystery flavor for this year? It was my favorite Mountain Dew Ever, it debuted on Halloween season of 2004! I was a big fan of the soda and was overjoyed at first when it returned in 2016, before being discontinued again. I have always loved how "Voodoo" tastes, some people have likened it to orange dreamsicle, while other folks thought it tasted like if you put all of the skittles in your mouth at the same time lol. One day I might have to try and re-create those flavors. My cherry cider turned out perfect, so why not?

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge Dino Drac fan. Glad to see another in here! And Purple Stuff Podcast, of course!

Hey, I finally found some key lime pie Kit Kats. They are okay, but won't be buying again. As for the M&M with the pretzel core, I will be on the look out for that one now.

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN : 155
DAYS TO OCTOBER 1ST: 125
DAYS TO JOL DAY: 2

Happy Saturday Halloween Friends! Today is the beginning of the LONG weekend that will see us officially starting down the "final" road to The Bers!

And it feels like that magic time of the year right now. A cool 50 degrees outside, and overcast. We had a lot of rain last night, but the ground here was so dry, it took it all in. We have no puddles or water laying anywhere of any kind. Today's high is going to be only 55, and tonight it gets into the 40's!

Just 2 days away now from JOL Day #3. A reminder if anyone wants to watch along with me, I will be watching "Halloween 4", and "Dead Silence" on Monday night.

We're going to see the "Days to October 1st" count get down into the 110's next week. Holy Shnikes! I think another Hobby Lobby Run is in order for today since it will be raining off and on and my grass is too wet to mow!

Have a great Saturday!

DAYS TO JOL DAY: 1

Happy Sunday Halloween Friends! Today I'm going to try and tackle the grass mowing before evening rolls in, as I really want to enjoy "Dark Arts Sunday". My whole weekend was out of whack with the rain, usually Saturday is my heavy outside / lawn work day, but we were inside most of yesterday because of the storms. And Let's talk for just a minute about the weather! Yesterday was only 55 degrees, and I had to turn the furnace on again last night at around 4:00 because the house was getting chilly! I can't ever, ever, remember having to use the heat on Memorial Day weekend.

I'm ready to go for Jack O Lantern Day too. My Memorial Day morning / afternoon will be spent with my family for a cookout, then when I come home that night, the electric Jack O Lantern will be fired up, the pumpkin candles will light up, and I will settle in for "Halloween 4", and "Dead Silence". Kind of crazy to think that after tomorrow, there will be only two more JOL Days until we get back to The Bers. The last JOL Day of the year is always awesome because The Bers literally begin at midnight that night. Last year I got out my Halloween Ceramic tree in August, and set it on our dining room table, unlit. The night of JOL Day on August 31st, I turned on the tree to symbolize the Bers being back! It was awesome.

I hope you all have a great Sunday!

DAYS TO OCTOBER 1ST: 123

Good Morning, Happy Monday, and Happy Memorial Day to everyone. I'd first like to say thank you to all of the members of the armed forces.

Today is Memorial Day. When the Memorial Day festivities have concluded this evening, I am going to settle in for Jack O Lantern Day #3. I've got the fall incense and pumpkin candles going, as well as my Halloween playlist to keep me company until then.

Today will feel a lot more like a day in September, instead of the chilly October-November days that we have had the past few days. High of 70 degrees and Sunny. We're just missing the filter. I hope all enjoy their day!

Morning Halloween Fans! I hope you all are having a good holiday weekend. It was colder this weekend then I bet it will be on Halloween Weekend. Have a great day!
Rich and I had a similar conversation back about 3 weeks ago, we are thinking we might be in for a heat wave by the end of October!

Geez, I've missed so much this week. Happy to be back in time for JOL Day! After Memorial Day festivities are over tonight I'll crank up some Halloween goodness.

Guys, realistically we are going to start seeing Halloween candy on shelves here soon. It's exciting! I wonder how early we'll see Pumpkin Spice stuff this year. Could we see anything as early as June? I won't get my hopes up, but at the same time I'm hoping that we make up for Covid last year and see some stuff in the wild earlier than usual.

Morning Halloween Fans! What I said was try yesterday but I found it actually was warmer on Christmas Eve/Day than it was this weekend lol. Wow. But the warmth returns now and our dreams turn towards Autumn and Halloween. Have a great day!

WEEKS TO OCTOBER: 17
WEEKS TO HALLOWEEN: 21

Good Morning Halloween Friends! I totally forgot the "weeks" count yesterday, with everything going on. But I'm glad I remembered! The weeks to October count is the one that jumps out the most to me.

It was a good Jack O Lantern Day. They always are. I'm so glad that I've found a "formula" so to speak, to keep from missing Fall so bad.

Now with it being June 1st, I want to take just a minute to talk about something "special" that happens this month. And that is the Summer Solstice. This year, on Sunday, June 20th, we will have the longest day of the year. Obviously once the longest day is in the books, it is time to look towards the next day, when the days start getting shorter. This magical day will be on Monday, June 21st. Just 20 days from now. How does that day make you feel? For me, I get so happy knowing that Fall is coming back. I mean, it's been on its way the "whole time", but just knowing that the days are getting shorter, means that it's really coming. Just like the wonderful road to the Bers.

On June 21st, I always post my "weeks until" meme on the boards. You may remember seeing it. It basically gives from that point, how many weeks until leaves fall, how many weeks until crisp mornings, and how many weeks until lights glow (Christmas).

June 21st, is only 4 seconds shorter than June 20th, and we won't "see" the difference really until the sun starts setting sooner, which starts happening by the end of June - a matter of only seconds at first, but then upon reaching July, it begins to rapidly accelerate. June 30th the sunset is at 8:42PM. On July 31st, that's 8:24PM.

So that's why June 21st is such a special day. How do you feel about that day? Do you get stoked like me, or do you get sort of "sad" that the clock starts ticking on Summer? Have a great day!
