Looks like we're getting a double-milestone Saturday this weekend: The Final 50 to Halloween and Final 50 to November in the Thanksgiving thread. There will be some excitement in the air for sure.

We continue to march towards the super snazzy, and totally awesome FINAL 50 milestone on our Halloween Countdown. What a Saturday it will be! Also arriving Saturday? The dawning / realization that from that point, we will be UNDER three weeks away from October! Almost a little alarmed here at how fast it is going by!

I actually saw someone in our neighborhood with Halloween decor already up on their front door and porch. Black cats and Jack o' Lanterns. I'll try to drive by and snap a picture if they aren't in their front yard and don't end up calling the police on me.
Our town started a Halloween yard decorating contest last year as a way of helping people forget Covid. They are doing it again this year and I was driving down one of the main drags earlier today and one of the houses was totally decked out including a 12 FOOT (you read that right) skeleton. It was truly amazing. I was at the grocery store and they had these:

I was in Dollar General today and I bought some Reese's Pumpkins and I was miffed when the cashier complained that the earlier people buy Halloween items the sooner the company will ship it out next year. I just wanted a Reese's Pumpkin. And with the way the shelves have been looking, I am not taking the chance that the items that I want will be in stock.
I've been buying Halloween candy for the last few weeks! It's amazing! I think we got our first bag of Reese's pumpkins around the 2nd week of August!

Today something returns that for many of us is the "final" fact that we need, to make it official, that we are back in the Fall. And that's opening day of the NFL season.
There won't be anything finer tonight than turning on the game tonight. Even if I fall asleep, I fall asleep comfortable, just like one of the nights that we have for so long dreamed about. Cool air and football on TV. I've felt "home" ever since we woke up on September 1st, but today reaffirms that fact.

These people are the "Halloween Grinches." I would've told the cashier that I hope they do ship earlier next year! Finding Halloween candy in August would go a long way in helping me forget about summer!

I gotta say, it's kind of underwhelming, but I'll be watching that Muppets Haunted Mansion special for sure.
Walking my dogs this morning….. I found that one of my neighbors has their property all decked out for Halloween already. Including a couple of 10 foot skeletons, a giant spider, and Michael Meyers standing guard over the grave of his sister Judith. Pretty impressive! So much so that one of my dogs started growling and barking.
(I am eating the candy I bought, so I will need to buy more. No regrets!)
I am surprised that I didn't have something to sassy to say to her, but I think I was so excited to have those Reese's Pumpkins that I didn't even care. Who doesn't like Halloween? Or at least the candy? I don't understand.
I think I may put out my Halloween decor this weekend, except for my Peanuts Halloween Village, I think I may have to save that for a weekend all of its own.
