Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's finally Thursday which as you all know means the weekend is finally in sight. It is truly a unique feeling each week on Wednesday late afternoon / Wednesday evening when you realize that Thursday / the weekend is finally on the way.
Today we are exactly TWO WEEKS until JOL Day #7. And just 15 days until The Bers. Wow. I remember the very first JOL Day that I ever "observed" in August, it was August of 2020 and I remember how magical it felt that night basically counting down the hours until The Bers were back. Those magic JOL Day feelings I have still not lost yet, even as I "worried" earlier this year that they might lose some of their luster by adding additional JOL Days to the calendar. I think I didn't realize how much I really needed them.
My heart is full and happy this morning thinking about where we are in the month, and how close we are to being back to everything that we have missed. Have a great day!
Over in the Daily Holiday Hangout, I talked about a little known Halloween special and "prequel" to How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The special is titled Halloween is Grinch Night.
Well, there's a YouTube channel that is streaming the entire 1979 broadcast right now as part of an ongoing fundraiser. It even includes the classic commercials and everything:
Like I said in the Hangout, I wouldn't expect Boris Karloff/Thurl Ravenscroft levels of greatness from this special, but it's a very fun pre-Halloween watch.
Definitely check Marshalls for joffreys. That's where I get mine every year. The next Code Orange thing I gotta look for is my Joffrey's coffee. I need the Not-So-Scary Pumpkin Blend. HomeGoods is running late this year with getting it out there.
Also going to World Market next week, and will pick up their newest coffee while I'm there.
This has nothing really to do with Halloween, but I consider these to be "Halloween coffees," so I am justified in posting about them here.![]()
We don't have a lot of cornfields around us. But the ones we do have have been losing their green color for the past two weeks. Our next sign of Fall in the fields will be the cotton starting to bloom. The corn around my house is just starting to turn, less vibrant green and starting to get yellow/gold. So many good scares in movies come from cornfields! LOL!
I have hit the wall for Summer weather too. This week is in the 90s with Thursday topping out at 102.Why does Halloween weather seem further away than Halloween? I feel like we will never cool down. I know it's not true, but it sure feels like it sometimes.
Once it is over about 92, it is just plain hot regardless of the temperature reading. But for me there is something psychological about those temps over 100 that makes me silently scream NO.I have hit the wall for Summer weather too. This week is in the 90s with Thursday topping out at 102.
