Halloween 2023 Countdown!

Hello Halloween Fans!

The weather is sooo perfect today. Nice and cool, combination of clouds and sun. Just perfect!

I went out to the garden to check the remaining pumpkins and had 2 more nice sized pie pumpkins ready to go. A third it questionable in terms of ripeness, but I think it will be ok.
So all told I ended up with 12 usable pie pumpkins. I also have about 6 that are too small to use but make nice decorations. I call that a success!

I am planning on making some pumpkin bread today with one of my pumpkins!

If the weather allows I will sit out in my chair on Halloween and see if the Great Pumpkin at least makes an appearance. It is an honor just to be considered!

WEEKS TO HALLOWEEN: 3

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Monday! Day #3 of my three day weekend! If we're looking on the calendar just a little bit, everyone sees what is coming up on Friday. That's right, it's FRIDAY THE 13th. I always love Friday the 13th, but having one in October, it sort of feels like the special day is sort of "wasted". I used to always think of them as "extra" Jack O Lantern Days, or Halloween cheat days, whichever you prefer.

Next year there are two Friday the 13ths, one in September, and the other in DECEMBER. I'm not sure how I feel about one being in December. On one hand, I don't want to do anything that takes away from any of the Christmas time / Christmas Season vibe. On the other hand, it might be a unique opportunity to sneak in some Halloween feels that might have otherwise had to wait until the long January.

Back to business. It's cold outside right now. Last night skipped Fall and went right to winter. It's 40 degrees right now. We turned the furnace on at about 9 pm last night. I think a lot of it had to do with how windy it was. So I guess "heat season" is now officially here. We made it three days later than last year, but I knew we were on "borrowed time".

Good morning, all! Just checking in. We are now in autumn sweater weather to be sure. Time is flying! Bought our pumpkins, decorations are out, watching a Simpsons Treehouse every night until Halloween and getting my fill of seasonal beer. It's going fast! But then I remind myself that that's not a concern since we celebrate in here all year! Hope everyone is enjoying the season!
 
I'm 21 days away from carving my Jack-O-Lantern.

I think a December Friday the 13th is a perfect day to watch Nightmare Before Christmas and Gremlins. That way it is not quite such a waste.

I like this idea. I actually have "Nightmare before Christmas" as one of my Rudolph Day film choices, so I am almost checking off both boxes. Thank you for the idea!!
 
DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 21

Good Morning Halloween Friends! The long weekend is over with now, and it's back to work today. Will this week feel long or short because of not having to work on Monday? I suppose that either way, with one day already down, we are already on the way to another wonderful October weekend.

Folks, it's cold outside. 44 degrees right now. I echo Edge's sentiments that yesterday at times felt like it could be November. Novembers can also be very cold, last year when I ran the Half Marathon it was only 24 degrees that morning, and only got to a high in the low 30's. That was on November 4th. And I don't feel like I have enough pellets to be ready for the cold winter. I am about 30 bags away from where I want to be. Fortunately, so far this year I have seen all of my local shops have plenty of pellets. I should be fully stocked up before any shortages start happening.

I'm seeing more and more Halloween lights now of an evening. I wonder at what point this month they will "peak". I would think probably one day this week we will see as many houses around here decorate as we are going to get. My big Tree comes out of storage in 15 days!

Well, my kids have their Halloween costumes picked out. My youngest daughter is a dragon (specifically, she wanted to be the girl dragon from the "How to Train Your Dragon" movies), and my oldest daughter is a giant, inflatable Snoopy. One day when it's cool outside again, perhaps this weekend, I'm going to film her in her costume dancing to Vince Guaraldi's "Linus and Lucy."
 
Good evening Halloween fans!

Just got home from seeing Alice Cooper in concert! It was a FANTASTIC SHOW! He played at a small area here. Not the type of place I would think he would play, but I guess he has done that throughout his career from time to time. I think that is really cool that he plays the small venues too.

There was no opening act and he played for almost 2 and half hours. All the big hits, all of his theatrics, everything. For 75 years old, the man still rocks!

It was a great show to see in October, really fit the Halloween mood
