Good Morning Halloween Friends! We're standing on the doorstep of a major milestone today. Less than 24 hours out now from hitting 50 DAYS TO FALL PRESEASON. I think this one has came roaring up on us somehow. And when looking at the NFL schedules I realized that the very first pre-season game will actually be on August 1st, which is the earliest I can ever remember the pre-season starting. No complaints here.
We continue along this week with another cool day only getting to the low 70s, but by the time we hit late week, we will be up in the upper 80's again for a little while. The Sweat Fest is truly here now. And our peak hottest day is usually around July 19th, so I wonder if that will be the case this year as well.
But you can't get back to Fall without going through the sweatfest. That's what makes this part of the year enjoyable.

Good morning Halloween Fans!
Yesterday was a really cool day for June. It was cloudy and barely hit 65 degrees. Was very Fall like and I loved it! However, starting Thursday we will be in the 90s.
Since football lifting and practice is ramping up now, I can easily tell that Fall is so close.

The one thing that discouraged me from playing football in high school was having to practice during the summer. I heard stories of other kids throwing up, passing out, etc. and decided I wanted none of it. It's a shame; I think I missed out and prevented myself from doing something I would have ultimately enjoyed. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.
Ahem...anyway, on to Halloween news: If you want to see if your town will be getting a Spirit Halloween location this year, their job listings are officially posted, so you can do a search for your location and see if it's listed. Per usual, my town is not listed, but the next city over is getting a location which is close enough for me not to complain.

Those kind of things used to happen a lot more in the past than today. While we are in the heat sometimes, there are rules and regulations that keep practices out of the intense heat and humidity. Also, so much has changed in terms of conditioning. I, along with many coaches I know, no longer do the old school style of conditioning for football. The running, running, and more running has all been proven to be largely ineffective in preparing to play football. All of the conditioning that I have players due is through football specific drills and an up tempo practice. There are still some old-school coaches that still do all of the running and everything, but that mentality is dying out, as it should.The one thing that discouraged me from playing football in high school was having to practice during the summer. I have a couple of kids I am trying to convince to play right now. They are on the fence and basically don't want to because they want to just be lazy all summer, but they want to play the games in the Fall. I keep trying to tell them that this is the only chance they really have to play football and how they will likely always wish they would have played.
I remember when I was in high school, they used to rig up these pvc pipes in like a big arch, drill tiny holes in them, and hook them up to water hoses. They would have the boys run through them to help keep cool. I actually felt sorry for them out there practicing their butts off in the heat of the deep south summer. I guess it was worth it, we were a state championship school. Football was life there, lol.

Did you know that when Vincent Price was contracted to provide the dialogue in Michael Jackson's "Thriller", he was given a choice between a flat fee of $20,000.00, or taking a percentage of the album sales. He chose the $20k!
He felt like his career was already well established, he was wealthy, and so making a lot of money at his age at that point wasn't a huge issue. I wonder if he regretted agreeing to "only" take the 20k!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's finally Thursday! We can almost kick our feet up and relax - from this point the rest of the work week goes by almost on auto-pilot.
That Fall Preseason count looks great this morning! And we're closing in on being two weeks until our next JOL Day. I have to mention for a moment how different the summer JOL Days feel - there's a yearning feeling that is mixed in there with the general happiness and fun of our little Halloween cheat day. It might be the hot weather, it might be in the back of our minds that we are now "so close" to reaching Autumn, with only one season standing in our way. And think about how differently it feels than when we have JOL Days in January and February.
Today is going to hit 90 degrees. It will be a great test for my new air conditioner. And the hotter it gets, the more I miss Autumn lol. Have a great day, friends! Try and stay cool if you can, I believe the SweatFest(tm) is now here in my neck of the woods!

They had this cute Halloween stacking plate with holder thingee on clearance at QVC and they were offering free shipping so I ordered it and it came today. It is so cute. It is a shame to have to put it away, but i will leave it out and admire it for until tomorrow.

We're moving right along now and have entered single digits on our way down to the 100 DAYS TO OCTOBER milestone! That next milestone is in 9 days. After that, we will have only ONE count still in triple digits. That just seems amazing to me how fast they seem to be moving now.
I'm pulling off this weekend energy and it will be my source of strength as I ride through this Friday. I'm looking forward to another Hobby Lobby trip this weekend, I need to get my weekly Autumn dose now that we're this far along.
