Sorry about the lighting, if I can get a better picture later I will replace this one but it felt great to get my Halloween Village out. One piece needs to be repaired again, but I am afraid it may not make it many more years.

P.S. The weedy looking patch in the background is actually horseradish, it looks good about one month a year.

That looks like home (Indiana). Melts my heart.

JOL Day #8 Official.jpg

Happy Monday Halloween Friends! And happy FINAL JOL DAY of our 2024 countdown season! I cannot believe that I'm writing those words and that TOMORROW, our wonderful month of October will be here!

Fear Fest on AMC started a few days early, and they were running marathons of "Halloween" over the weekend. So tonight, I'm going to enjoy 100% fully authentic "Halloween Grazing", as I relax on the couch and watch Halloween movies. I really haven't had an experience like that since Spooky Spring was here almost 5 months ago.

I'll probably pop back on tonight and post some thoughts as we enter the waning hours of September... Have a great day!

"Halloween Grazing". I really love that. I definitely relate to that.

The Halloween decor looks awsome @Rich.

My exterior is completely done. The interior has been done for a couple of weeks, but I have yet to take pictures of it.

My patch has been terribly neglected. It is hard work and no one seems to want it anymore so I have not harvested any in many years. At least once a year, someone, one of my brothers or a nephew mentions wanting to come over to dig it and learn how to grind it and prep it for jars but like so many things it is always "we should" and "someday". They say after two years of not being dug that it becomes woody.
I will have to research how to revitalize it and that can be a long term project for me.

Maybe that sounds fun and maybe it doesn't. When my dad harvested and processed his, he would always send my Dave a jar. One year, I tired to bring it in with my hands too full. I dropped the jar on the back porch and of course it broke. No matter how much I scrubbed and sprayed it with the hose, it smelled like horseradish for at least six weeks!
