Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's a cool rainy Sunday, and the pellet stove is going here as it dipped down into the 40's overnight. It's a shame that Spooky Spring has ended, today would be an absolutely perfect April/"October" day. I kind of wonder if this will be the last time using heat, especially as we approach the second week of May.
Our next milestone in here will be a big one, that one being the 100 DAYS TO THE BERS, which arrives on Memorial Day weekend when "The Road" opens up. What a day it will be.
Folks, I like seeing these counts move all year, but one count I do NOT want to go fast is that "Days to Halloween" count. It's nice and full-ish at the moment. I wish that the "Days to October" could sort of just go slow somehow, especially now that we have broken the 150 Day seal, but you know how that goes. It's why we must enjoy each day!

Hello Halloween friends!
Normal Sunday at my house.
Looking at the countdown I am joyed to see those numbers. I too do not want time to move too quickly, but I will admit that I am ready to get the next 3 weeks over and get to summer break. As a teacher, the last month of school is like driving a bus that is falling apart. LOL
I want to make sure that JOL day this month is good. I have no certain plans but I want to make sure it has all of the feels.
June will be a month of enjoying summer and not thinking about school at all, except for high school football which begins to consume my life in June. The June JOL day will be important as well because once I get to July I dive into Christmas in July pretty hard. But then... it is ALL Halloween!

There are no milestones this week, so we have a nice and relaxing week, or "stress free" as our friend Edge would say. But next week? It's the week leading to the weekend before Memorial Day Weekend. Nobody needs told what Memorial Day weekend signifies. And it's coming our way, and FAST. That's why we need to enjoy each day as much as we can while we are still in the relaxing, stress-free time.
Because when that 100 Day marker to The Bers is here, believe me when I tell you things will "feel" fast at that point. The time just seems to move differently altogether when the seal is broken on 100 days to something.
I hope everyone enjoys their Monday, we'll take it one day at a time as we crawl towards the weekend! Have a great day!

My personal “goalposts” seem like they move up every year, and with the 100 Days to the Bers milestone falling on the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend this year, I’m fairly sure that’s when everything will change for me this year, and the threat of any PCBs or seasonal depression will be gone for good at that point. I know we’ll still have the Sweatfest to contend with, and that’s no fun at all, but it seems like every stop we have after Memorial Day Weekend is huge:
June - Summer Solstice, Leon Day
July - Independence Day, 50 Day Preview
August - Fall Preseason
It is shortly around or after that 50 Day Preview that Fall and Halloween items will start showing up en masse, and from there the hype train cannot be derailed.

The big milestone to keep an eye on this month is 100 DAYS TO THE BERS. After that, we will only have three counts still in the hundreds! When we get to the latter parts of July, we will have no more counts at all in the 100's! Thank goodness we still have some time between now and then!

I had mentioned that I was going to check in each Tuesday at Oriental Trading to see if this year's Halloween swag was available, but some of the items I have been waiting for are available at Amazon for a similar price so I did order some Halloween toys, the kind that have suction cups and jump. They should be here by the weekend. It kinda feels like I cheated but there are some things that are only at OT, so my watch continues.
OTC has some great Halloween egg stuffers for sure. Current had a great sale going on so I stocked up on non-holiday wrapping paper (I have five family birthdays in May so that motivated me to get it ordered.).

Um, what, Texas? Ferrero-Rocher Hazelnut Chocolates? For Halloween? Are you kidding me? How is the rest of my state letting me down so hard? Those things are NOT Halloween candies! Heck, they aren’t even normal candies. Who has a craving for Halloween candy and thinks, “Gee, I’ll pick up a container of Ferrero-Rocher.” NO ONE. Who puts these in Halloween candy dishes aside from rich people?

EDIT: It could be worse, I guess. All of the states bordering us seem to have an obsession with Tootsie Rolls and/or Tootsie Pops, and those things are a travesty.
