My pumpkins are sure enjoying the heat, I'm glad somebody is, but it has become apparent that I planted the Big Max seeds in the the small container and the Jack B'Littles in the big container. Oh well, they look good right now.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's a big day! HALFWAY TO CHRISTMAS aka LEON DAY is here at long last! I'm a little bit emotional this morning. Christmas was my first love and will always be #1 to me - even as I live the life of a Fall / Halloween junkie. There's just something about Christmas that I think no other holiday can duplicate.

Back on the Halloween side - We are now just FIVE days away from JOL Day #5! We continue to enjoy seeing a 30's count on our "Fall Preseason" countdown, and I might be a little early mentioning it, but in 9 days from now we will "finally" break into a 50's count in our Bers Count. Let me just tell you, our friend @Edge612 is no doubt hard at work preparing himself for another awesome edition of the 50 DAY PREVIEW OF THE BERS. I can't wait!

Have a great day, friends! It's almost Wednesday now and another edition of our Halloween Fact / Discussion day!

Leon Day, Tom Turkey Day, and JOL Day are making me forget how fast June has gone by, and soon the 4th of July will usher in July which I think will go by just as fast.

July always goes too fast for me. It feels like the 4th of July hits and then two days later it is August. It is just crazy how quick it goes. As much as I want Fall weather and all of the things that go with Fall, I really want to be able to enjoy summer break; or at least what I get of it. LOL

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's finally Wednesday, and with the arrival of Wednesday, those weekend vibes start slowly rolling in! Almost everybody has a day off next week, that's exciting! And we continue to move along in our counts now - just 4 days to go now until JOL Day #5, our Fall Pre-Season count is about to hit the mid 30's (!!!), and next week we will see our beloved Bers Count enter the 50's!!! Even though it has been a long hot summer, it seems like it is picking up speed. July 4th is right around the corner.

Our Wednesday round table discussion today centers around what I think is one of the pinnacles of reaching October - the 24/7 non stop Halloween movie marathons. And I don't mean THE Halloween, as in Michael Myers - although seeing him on TV during Halloween season is just iconic. If there's a Michael Myers marathon, I almost can't get anything done. I'm glued to the screen. I have long stated that I think the opening to Halloween 4 is maybe the most "perfect" opening for any movie that is set during Halloween / Autumn, as far as getting you in the "feel" of October / Halloween.

So what say you - Do you look forward to seeing certain movies on TV during October / Halloween season? Do you prefer one channel over another? I split my time equally between SyFy and AMC, although the past few years AMC's have really rolled out the "Halloween Duds". I even included my own "Halloween Duds" this year during Spooky Spring - for sake of authenticity.

Have a great day!

Good morning Halloween Fans!

I am sitting outside in some cooler air with a nice breeze. Storms will move in later today.

As for the questions of movies on TV: I rarely watch actual TV channels anymore. It happens in rare occasions, but simply not my norm. So, I miss any movie marathons that play. Instead I just create my own; however, rarely are they marathons because I never have time in the Fall to just sit and watch several movies. I have a list of movies that I try to make sure I watch every year, and then another group of movies that I what if I can. My Halloween movie watching begins in August. Almost always the first movie I watch is Clue. Not truly a Halloween movie, or scary; but it gets me in the mood and it is such a great movie.

The SyFy Channel is the one I watch the most. The Harry Potter marathons always felt like a mini-holiday and a couple of times coincided with my staycation or a long weekend. "Halloween Duds" sounds fun, I will have to look and see if i can stream from AMC. Like @Iteachpercussion, I create my own marathon and I also start watching Halloween shows in August or September. I watched John Carpenter's The Thing recently so I might plan a John Carpenter weekend for the Fall.

I hardly ever watch regular cable TV anymore unless it is news or sports. So most of my Halloween shows/movies are watched through a streaming service.

There is still nothing like the joy of waiting for something to come on actual TV as when I was a kid. Our local paper used to release the Christmas show list on Black Friday. I always got my scissors and cut it out and hung it on the fridge. It was always more challenging when waiting for It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. I just had to wait for it to be advertised to know when it was on. We did not get a TV guide at my house. Lol.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Mini Friday is here! It rained almost all night last night, we really needed the rain and could use some more. The grass looks a little greener this morning.

Tomorrow we enter into a 70's count on our way to Halloween Season! The big change next week will be seeing just 30 days to FALL PRESEASON, and obviously beginning a 50's count on our way back to The Bers. The FINAL FIFTY for that will be here in just 16 days. Wow. I am really starting to get excited for the 50 day preview. And it's going to be here soon.

Have a great Thursday! It's almost the weekend now!

Hello Halloween Fans!

We never really got our garden going much this year. However, we finally got the raised beds cleared out and can actually plant something. So we were trying to decide what to plant this late. We decided to plant mostly pumpkins! We are going to plant the pie pumpkins like last years; but, we are also going to try to grow some monster pumpkins and regular jack o lantern pumpkins. We will see how they do. I know it is a bit later than normal, but the timing should be about right for the pumpkins to just be finished growing at Halloween. So, if all goes right I will have a nice little pumpkin patch for Halloween. Perhaps the Great Pumpkin will pay me a visit!

"Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see."

I planted mine just about a month ago and they are coming along nicely, I think you will be very pleased that you will have all the greenery and vines later in the season. I think the Great Pumpkin likes the healthy looking leaves!

Happy Friday, folks! TGIF, for sure! Today it's time once again to get into our month end review after a quick check of the counts. Just TWO days now until JOL Day #5, and the low 30's count jumps out to me for Fall Pre-Season. The other numbers can be viewed with your trained eyes, those are just the two that really stood out this morning.

I mentioned it earlier when we started June that I felt like it could have been a contender, if not the champion, of the month that had the most milestones. Let's recap them really quick!

  • 150 Days to Halloween
  • 150 Days to November
  • 100 Days to Halloween Season
  • 200 Days to Christmas
  • 150 Days to Christmas Season
  • Summer Solstice
  • 100 days to October
  • Leon Day
  • Tom Turkey Day #7
  • Jack O Lantern Day #5 (upcoming)
Now folks I realize that not all of those were "observed" here in this thread, but they were happening across MMC and in our daily lives!

So what do you think? How was your June? We'll get into the July preview tomorrow, because JOL Day is on Sunday and that's always my focus! Have a great Friday!
