DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 365

Good Evening Halloween Friends! Our 2025 Halloween Countdown thread is now up and running! You can see from the above that the main countdown is up and live! Over the next few days, I will add more and more countdowns daily as we begin the process of zeroing in to Autumn / Halloween Season 2025!

I started doing a Halloween Thread here in MMC in 2021, to compliment Edge's outstanding other group of threads that I feel really compliment the MMC experience. For the most part, we have experienced slow and steady growth over the past few years, although interestingly we didn't seem to have as many posts in 2024. Still though, we seem to have emphasized quality over quantity on this thread, and I really appreciate everyone who contributes. Here's a quick look at the post counts for the past few years:

2021- 1,915
2022- 2,045
2023- 2,182
2024- 1,950

For anyone new to the thread joining us this year, or new to MMC in general, we take counting down VERY seriously. In fact, at times, it seems like counting down might be just as much fun as the actual holiday itself!

And the strategy, which is tried and true, year after year, 365 days a year, is to countdown little chunks at a time, instead of having a giant slog for a countdown. Our main countdowns focus on Autumn and Halloween season. With "Full" Countdowns at the beginning of the new countdown season, we are counting down to these significant times of the year:

Spooky Spring
Halfoween
Fall Preseason
The Bers
Halloween Season
October
Halloween

And if we look through the entire year as a whole, we have a Halloween/Autumn milestone to celebrate every month of the year. Don't believe me? Take a look at the below!

Also, for any brand new followers to the thread, let me take a moment to plug our special days / times throughout the countdown season:

JACK O LANTERN DAYS:

Beginning in January, at the end of the month, we celebrate "Jack O Lantern Day". I get out the electric Jack O Lantern, burn some fall/ pumpkin wax warmers / candles, and listen to my "Halloween Playlist" that day, before settling in for a mini horror movie marathon to wrap up the day. Some days when the weather cooperates, I even have a small fire in my outside fire pit. This is just my way of adding a little bit of Fall / Halloween to my life, during times in the year where I am really missing Fall. And it really helps. I think some of us here keep the same routine. We do this from January to September before finishing up in "Halloween Season" in September, having safely reached our destination. We originally only did JOL Days on each month that had a 31st, from January - August, but we "expanded" JOL Days due to popular demand last February.

SPOOKY SPRING:

Folks - Spooky Spring came about organically in 2021, and in 2022 we decided to plan for it and make it an annual tradition. A great addition to our all year long spooky activities. April is essentially the mirror image of October, and Spooky Spring is celebrated the entire month of April. Basically it is October in April. Scary movie marathons, pumpkin spice everything - Halloween decorations. The cool weather really sets the tone for the month and it leads us right into Halfoween, the grand celebration of reaching the half way point to Halloween.

FALL PRESEASON:

Fall Preseason begins on August 1st. It just seems to be the time that Summer merchandise, etc., seems to be going out of the stores and Fall items start showing up. It helps us mentally start to prepare for the arrival of true Autumn in September. My decorating begins the second week in August, and I'm usually decked out for Autumn by the end of that month!

FRIDAY THE 13th:

We will experience TWO Friday the 13ths in this new countdown thread. The first one will be in 2024 on December 13th, and the second will be on June 13th, 2025. It is basically like a Jack O Lantern Day "cheat day", and I usually treat the day as an extra JOL Day and will exclusively watch the Friday the 13th movies! This coming December is special because I have never "observed" a Friday the 13th in December since I usually do not like anything to take away from Christmas Season.

HALLOWEEN SEASON

The first day of Fall this coming year is September 22nd, which happens to fall on a Monday. I think that is a fine date to serve as our "official" start to Halloween Season. I say "official" because some people, myself included, might already be mentally doing Halloween season by late August / early September.

And that's it! Halloween in 2025 will be on a Friday, so we will have a true "Halloweekend". Friday will also be the days that we post our "weeks" count. This place might be a little quiet the next few months as we soak into Christmas season, but we are making time here in the background, and before we all know it or want to admit it, we will be in a New Year and really begin the "hardcore" part of the chase / countdown.

Thank you again for everyone who joined us and who keeps coming back, and happy counting!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! It's Full Count Friday. All seven of our main counts have now returned and are replenished, and we will have an eighth count joining us on January 1.

The "Halloween Afterglow" begins today. When work is over I'm coming home and taking down the Halloween decorations outside and switching over to Christmas . I'm also hoping to have all of the lights outside totally done by Saturday.

Have a great day!

Let the fun begin again! I love keeping Halloween in the forefront of my mind year-round.

Oof! Such large numbers. Lol. But there is so much to enjoy in our next two "free months" the count will be way down once January hits.
I was thinking the same thing when I looked at the top of the list and saw 91 days. I thought, “Aww, you mean I have to wait THAT long?” But then the realization that it is the Christmas season hit me pretty fast, and I bet we’ll be plenty busy the next 61 days, at least, to where we won’t even notice.

Fifteen percent of my brain is always Halloween. Fifteen percent is Thanksgiving. Five percent each for Valentine's, Easter, 4th of July. Other holidays get about 1 percent each (for a total of 5 percent) . Christmas gets 40 percent. That leaves only twenty percent of brain real estate for everything else I need to do in life. Pretty much, the inside of my head is all celebrations all the time.

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Saturday! Happy 1st weekend of November! And welcome to the very first milestone day of the new thread! 150 Days to Spooky Spring!

150 Days to Spooky Spring.jpg

Two of the "counts" that I really try and keep my eye on during this time of year, is our Jack O Lantern Day count, and of course Spooky Spring. Our first Jack O Lantern Day of 2025 is 90 days away, and I think it comes at a perfect time - we are in the darkest part of January by that point. Christmas decorations and Christmas lights are down and unfortunately a memory. Jack O Lanterns and Halloween have been sleeping since this weekend, essentially.

And it just feels like the perfect time because before JOL Day, there is Tom Turkey Day, and Rudolph Day, that start "refilling" our holiday meters. And by the time we are approaching the special days in January, my meter is empty. It's like pulling into the gas station when you are just about to run out of gas. It's a good feeling. And it's coming our way in 90 Days!

Christmas decorating continues this weekend! Have a great day!

Evening Halloween Fans! The big hour long (13 houses) trail I just did last Sunday for the 3rd year in a row already posted on their site they are working on 2025 and making some "new additions." Bigger? And better? And it says "Details to come in the spring"...sounds big and exciting. Happy Halloween!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Today I am hoping to finish up the Christmas decorating outside. I got all the icicle lights up, but one strand had 3 sections of blown out lights. So I have to get up there and change them out when the sun comes up. I'll never understand how you can take something down and it is still 100% working and then when you put it up again, it doesn't work.

I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!

I need to pack up my Halloween decorations today and clean as I go. It is rainy and windy here so I know I am going to especially miss the lights from my Halloween Village but my Christmas Village will probably go up on the 26th this year so it won't be too long!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Monday! I hope this week doesn't feel like a long week, because I've got a three day weekend coming up because the offices are closed on Veterans' Day. I also sort of can't believe that by the time we get to Veterans' Day, we are staring at the HALF WAY point of November. If October started going fast at the end, then November already feels like it could be flying.

Nice and Full Counts this morning. They are going to look/feel full for a long time. We are in the bonus months / aka "free time" right now since everybody is on board with getting decorated for Christmas. And by the time we get back to really digging into these numbers every day, they will have changed by a lot! That's why we call them the "bonus months" because everybody is enjoying Christmas time so much that by the time all of that is over, we don't even realize how much of a dent we put into all of those counts! A big difference from when we are toiling away through the dark days of January and early February!

Have a great day, friends!

I’m in a weird place right now. I’ve moved on to Thanksgiving and Christmas and am happily basking in the glow of a new season, but I also am beginning to miss Halloween even though it just ended. It hasn’t even been gone a week yet! Last night I watched the movie Coco (which is themed around Dia de los Muertos) to help me process my feelings.

So yes, my heart is full of different and competing emotions, but I’m too excited about what’s ahead to let it get me down. And truthfully, I’m excited about the journey back!
