Over here in the UK kids dont celebrate Halloween at school, well mine dont. There is no disco or fancy dress for them at all. Im wondering, do kids in American schools celebrate it or at least acknowledge it?

In our school district they do. I can remember dressing up in elementary school and doing a parade thru the halls for Halloween. My oldest daughter is in her 2nd year of preschool and they get to wear their Halloween costumes to school and have a Halloween party during the week before Halloween.

I asked the teacher last year at my daughters school if they did anything for Halloween and she said 'no'...its really disappointing.

I did that in elementay school also.we would go throgh the halls and get candy from teachers but Idk if they still do that.I know they have hallowe3n parties.

Yep they do here :) In fact, the small town school my kids go to still have Christmas trees in the school at Christmas time.

When I was in elementary school we always had a Halloween carnival.

The school my kids went to had carnivals as well.

Now I take my grandkids to the Halloween carnivals at the same school I use to attend. I love them as much as they do!

depends on the school. i did growing up in the 70s and 80s every year. but at my oldest child's school where my wife teaches as well - they allow FALL decorations and FALL parties but not Halloween. the reason - religion - yes i i said religion...no Christmas - so no Halloween....goofy huh?

We took our costumes to school through 6th grade and dressed up for our party about 30 minutes before school was out. My mom was always one of the ones who came with cupcakes & Kool-aid.

I don't think the public schools here do it now because teacher's just don't want to deal with it; that's according to my mom, who has worked at the primary school here for 25 years.

For Christmas, through 8th grade, we would either draw names or numbers every years for gift exchange. I'm pretty sure that's not done anymore either.

DD is in kindergarten and I don't see Halloween celebrations on the school's October newsletter. DD did have a Halloween party every year in the Christian daycare center she attended & they dressed up and had a Halloween parade in the church gym.

When I was younger in elementry school we allways would dress up and parade around the halls. However over the years its become less and less alowed due to people thinking it is not PC. I really hate when people try to think everything is so bad.

At my kids school they are allowed to bring in their costumes and change into them right before they have a parade on the street in front of the schools. Then after the parade each class has a party. I'm glad the schools here still celebrate the holidays. :)

My kids school doesnt do anything either. I went to the same school they do and Im sure I remember going in dressed up. Its a shame really!!
