I've been a lurker for a while and even joined a while back and didn't post. I live in East Tennessee with my DH & DD, who is 3 years old.
We put the tree up on Thanksgiving weekend and it comes down (if I'm feeling up to it) on New Years Day. I've put up different numbers, sizes, and themes of trees over the years, depending on the circumstances of the year, but I've never been without a tree. Had just a two foot tree on the dining table the year we were selling our house!
I also have a Precious Moments nativity scene and a collection of Possible Dreams Santas. I don't add to the collections anymore because I'm out of room. DH has a small village set.
My mom and I are the Christmas lovers in the family. We celebrate Christmas in July together and I take a vacation day from work for it!
Growing up, I lived next door to my maternal grandmother. In summer I would go to her house and we would listen to her two Christmas records. She was the biggest kid at Christmas!
I like to celebrate Christmas all year because it can be overwhelming once December actually gets here. DH & I try to slow down and only do the things we really enjoy instead of trying to cram it all in like we used to. DD loves Christmas and we watch any holiday themed movie any time of the year. We've already watched Peter Cottontail a couple of times and Christmas dvds are watched at least once a week and usually more!
Glad to be here with others who share my enjoyment of the season.
