I'm about 25 mins away from Cwmbran. You probably wouldn't have heard of the town I'm from so it's just easier to say that it takes me about 25 mins to get to cwmbran from where I live lol Unless you don't know cwmbran, then I'm back to where I started LOL. Woooow, that was jumbled!

Lol - yes i know Cwmbran.

we have friends in Bettws and Newport

Lol - Im over in Neath port Talbot.

Plus boyfriend works for a courtesy car delivery company in Bridgend and frequents that area regularly.

....and Kelly Ann STILL lives in Swansea (coz I think you missed that one!!)

:))

sorry for the question....but how do You say Cwmbran and Bettws. Welsh is an interessting language...but if I had to tell a Taxi Driver one of those two names...I wouldn´t know how

Welcome to the forums. I love your creativity with words in your post. I look forward to more.

Cwmbran is pronounced Cum Bran.

Bettws is pronounced Bedwas

(in our household anyway)

a lot of people tend to have problems pronouncing names in my area because we have Cwmavon, Duffryn, Nantyfyllon, Blaengwnfi and Glyncorrwg as our surrounding areas.

I always use to joke that the welsh peopel forgot to add vowels in their words but now Im understanding it more im loving it.

Kelly Ann - oh we can have our own little Christmas meet up for a coffee. x

thx for clearin that up...:D....I was even on the right path with it.....I find Welsh kinda funny....but very, very interessting...I had a french teacher in school who was of scottish origin....she studied all types of English-based languages and french too.....and once she wrote a Welsh word on the chalkboard that was three lines long....I don´t remember it....but it was very long...and a tonguebreaker, too

It wasnt

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

was it????

Thats the longest welsh villages name.

Wow, thats going to be difficult to write phonetically, as in welsh a double L like at the start of the word, (ll) is pronounced as lchh (lol I know the sound I mean - not ch as in chips, the sound the lchh makes always reminds me of a cat hissing) and a double D (dd) is pronounced as th.

I would say the phonetic would be:

LCHH-AN-FAIR-PULCH-GWIN-GILCHH-GOGRY-KWEEND-DROB-WULCHH-ANT-E-SILLY-O-GO-GO-GOKH

I think....lol. Hope you get what I mean by LCHH being pronounced as a cat hiss lol

That took ages LOL
