Hello everyone,
I would like to start off by saying that I love Jesus Christ. I celebrate Christmas because I want to honor my lord and savior. I don't celebrate Christmas because of Santa Claus (but I still love watching the old cartoons like Rudolph and Santa Claus is coming to Town
).
I enjoy both the spiritual and secular part of Christmas and I don't see any harm in the traditions mixing (I know what I celebrate Christmas for and that makes all the difference). I have read a lot on the history of Christmas (and Santa Claus) and I understand why we have things such as Christmas trees in the Christmas celebration. I also understand why Jesus birth is a part of this joyous holiday.
I celebrate Christmas because of what Jesus Christ means to me. I've always viewed Jesus birth as a sign of hope. When the heavenly host of angels came down from heaven to celebrate the birth of Jesus, it was a sign of hope and peace, as Jesus was to be called the “Prince of Peace” (Luke 2:9-14, Isaiah 9:6-7). God was the greatest gift giver of all when he gave us his son. And of course as we all know, we celebrate Easter because Jesus died on the cross for our sins, he was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day. So he is a living God and he brought us salvation.
All I know is that Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love the season more than the day to be honest. Lol! I love, love, LOVE Christmas shopping, watching/helping with the Christmas program at my church, putting up Christmas decorations, wrapping the Christmas presents, listening/singing Christmas music/songs, and cooking Christmas dinner. Even though I’m usually exhausted once the holidays are over (the holidays really start with Halloween for me...and yes I celebrate Halloween but I don't do scary things, I take my little brothers trick or treating :boo
. Christmas to me is the only time of the year, where even non-Christians seem to have a smile. Everything just seems so merry and bright.
Jesus is the light of this world so I think that is the reason for why even non-believers can’t help but smile during the holidays. There is just something about Christ that brings joy to the season. Although, there will always be a few scrooges out there. LOL!
I hope I haven’t offended anyone. I was just posting my welcome message and why I love Christmas so much.
