HI there and MERRY CHRISTMAS IN JULY

:Hello! a little snow to help cool things off here. My name is Dahart <screen name> . I live in CO. I have two teens (14 and 17) and a Hubby, who's been out of work since OCT. I love LOVE LOVE Christmas. Our Christmases have been simple for our 18 years. But This year I am hoping that I can do things a little more elaborate, doubtful but there is always hope. last year my Kids and hubby got socks and undies. Kinda sad actually. I know Christ is the Reason for the Season but still It would be nice If I could give my children something besides that for Christmas.

Anyway, I have been a homemaker and homeschooler for 18 years been married 19.

I love everything about Christmas, the carols, the lights, the trees, the shopping (just being out in the stores not the actual spending) and just being with family. I get kinda like Buddy the elf at that time of year when he finds out that Santa is coming to the dept store

I had an intro post already typed up but it disappeared... oh well.

Welcome!

Don't let it get you down about the gift giving. We had a couple of Christmases when my children were little that the gift giving was small. We had the best time ever! We decided to exchange notes to each other and write something special about one another. We wrapped each one up real pretty, we opened one at a time and read them aloud. It was really nice!

Also spend lots of time with us. We stay in the spirit year round! cheesy

Thank you. I had thought of that with the exchanging of notes and it isn't the kiddos who what the big things as gifts, they are SOOO understanding, It is me that feels extremely bad that they got socks and undies last year.. They were actually Thrilled to get them as they had been needing them

I grew up when there was "plenty" now not being able to give to my children the way I was given to just makes me feel terrible.

But having done it for about 10 years now the kiddos seem to be kinda used to it.

BUT This year I actually have a plan. I figured out what I am going to do for my Daughter this year. I am going to make her a quilt. I had been promising her one for a little while ( 5 years) and I figure if I am not working while she is in school, Yes I will be sending her to public school this year for the first time (another sad moment in my life) I can make it for her and she will be so suprised.

I will be making in hot pink, purple, lime green (all neon shades) and black. that is what I came up with while a friend was over here last night. and I will be making her a beanie from crochet as well. Daughter is taken care of for Christmas.

Now for my Son Who will be going off to college in January, hopefully. He will be geting his GED this fall and then going to college in January. SO am trying to figure out what to do for him. It will come to me im sure.
