Mall of America to be closed on Thanksgiving

Interesting news story ... after being open on Thanksgiving since 2012, the Mall of America---the largest mall in the U.S.---announces that this year it will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

I hope mores stores follow them. I love Black Friday shopping but on Friday.

It's so nice to see stores closed on major holidays, giving it's employees a chance to celebrate the holiday with their families. I think too, it ads to the excitement of Black Friday

Retailers are finally realizing that starting Black Friday on Thanksgiving is a terrible idea

Retailers have officially lost the so-called "war on Thanksgiving."

An increasing number of retailers are closing on Thanksgiving Day this year in response to backlash against the trend of starting Black Friday sales a day early.

CBL & Associates, the operator of 89 regional malls and shopping centers, announced it would close 73 of its locations on Thanksgiving Day and not open until 6 a.m. on Black Friday, CNBC reported. Last year, the mall operator opened at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

The Mall of America, which has opened on Thanksgiving for the last four years, will be closed on the holiday this year.

However, running counter to this "trend" ... some Macy's locations have announced they will be opening earlier than ever on Thanksgiving---at 5 p.m.
